We generally stay at the Inn at Occidental, a charming and very expensive B&B nearby. But we were with a group this time, so opted for the Occidental Hotel. It wasn't a "special occasion" place (Stay at the Inn at Occidental for that special celebration), but a totally acceptable hotel with very good rates. It was off the main road,... More

My boyfriend and I wanted to get away for the weekend and we found this lovely hotel in Occidental, CA - The Occidental Hotel. We were charmed from the moment we spotted it. Upon checking in, Christy greeted us with a warm, inviting smile and was very friendly. She asked us if we wanted any recommendations for dining and to... More

My boyfriend and I drove to Occidental to enjoy a weekend away....I really enjoy the general vibe of Occidental...."granola", chill, and unique. We stayed at the Occidental Hotel....for two nights and loved the cozy and welcoming ambiance. Very clean, spacious, awesome vanity area for the women. The front desk guy was funny, and welcoming.......and also helped me track down a... More

We have stayed in quite a few places and this was probably our least favorite. We had a large group of people staying here for my nephew's wedding that was going to be at the Union Hotel's Bocce Ballroom (which was fabulous). We booked our rooms way in advance because there are not many options for this town. The price... More

We stayed here on April 17-19 2014. It's a nice hotel, decent price we got a rate for $118 for those stays. friendly staff, it's not bad at all unless you wanna drive all the way to Santa Rosa (med size town) and get a Marriott / courtyard. This is only for someone who appreciates the small town experience and... More

What a nice clean and reasonably priced hotel in a great central location. We used Occidental as our staging point for several trips out to Salmon Creek, Shell and Goat Rock beaches as well as trips to Fort Ross and Bodega Bay. The hotel is right in downtown Occidental and has access to several good eats places too. I had... More

We were attending a concert at the Occidental Arts Center and didn't want to drive back down winding roads in the dark. We didn't want to pay for luxury, and the Occidental Hotel was just what we needed. The staff was friendly, the room was large, clean, and well laid out. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of... More

I had trouble sleeping or even being in the room during my stay because of noise. I have traveled around the country and have never experienced walls like these that amplify the noise of other rooms (TV, people talking, etc). The noise was actually louder between rooms than outside the rooms when I walked the hallways to figure out where... More

This is a nice motel, clean and with all the standard features. The location is remote, beautiful and close to Alliance Redwoods and Sonoma Canopy Tours, a great place to zipline. But there is nothing outstanding about the property itself. If you're on a tight budget, I recommend staying in Santa Rosa and driving to your destination in the Occidental... More

Quaint little motel from the 60s is clean, with a very nice staff. Beds were very soft, toilet paper was like tissue paper, towels were thin, heater old. In room fridge was handy. Hundreds of TV channels. Location is the draw, as the tiny town of Occidental couldnt be any more charming. As I said, hotel staff was very down... More
