We had an upper floor room with an amazing view of the bay.It was quiet when we were there so that was good and bad as it was a little sad to see the loss of trade with the coronavirus van coming into force for restaurant and bar.
Staff were friendly and the location great , beach is good for long walks and safe for children and others who can’t swim well as there is no surf.
The actual room is in need of refurbishment.
The shower door didn’t shut and looked like it needed a good renovation all round.
There was grass growing in the roof gutter below our balcony.
And the most disturbing thing was the automatic door closer to the front door to the room ( which is a fire door) had been removed.
This place could be five stars with a little investment.

I stayed at the Seahorse Inn as I was celebrating my birthday & had decided to spoil myself. I booked the deluxe suite and couldn’t have been more impressed.

From check-in to check-out, the staff effortlessly went above and beyond. I arrived in the suite to a lovely hand written card from the staff and a few minutes later the waitress arrived at our door with some bubbles and personally wished me a Happy Birthday.

The room was very comfortable with a large bed, lounge area that had views of the water and beautiful garden, spacious bathroom and was extremely clean, housekeeping is doing a fabulous job.

We dined in the bistro as the restaurant is closed due to covid but they have their formal meals available in there also. The food was amazing, we shared a seafood platter, scallops and crayfish to die for (highly recommend this).

Breakfast was served in our room and we opted to sit out on our balcony, the sound of the waves, the birds singing and delicious eggs, perfect way to start our day.

We look forward to a return visit.

This venue is absolutely stunning and a must to see, however the dining experience would suit a retiree for scones and tea.

The food is worded and priced as a 5 star establishment but arrives at your table as a cheap pub style meal.

The salad is dressed with a bulk buy kraft italian dressing and the service is appalling, the waitress made an error then raised her voice at me in front of other diners when she stated she had repeated the order to me which she had entered an entree as an entree then the same dish also as a main meal.

The food is very bland and basic, for the location they should be able to source top quality fresh seafood, yet most seemed to be previously frozen.

Such a shame that the restaurant lets down this beautiful establishment.

If I was rating just the food it would be a 1 star.

I want to start out by saying the front of house ladies were absolutely amazing so lovely and attentive so this review in no way reflects them, however to say that we were disappointed with our lunch is an understatement. I was expecting so much from the Seahorse Inn having booked weeks in advanced thinking that due to its appearance and location it would be buzzing and the food spectacular. However the menu is the most outdated and basic pub food you can imagine. My risotto was bland and tasteless with the gentleman on the table next to us finding a hair in his which is no surprise as none of the chefs were wearing hats. Id also like to add that my partners burger came served on a Tip Top grade bun.......
Having spent close to $100 on lunch we left dissatisfied and with a bad taste in our mouths. Its sad as this place has gigantic potential but the kitchen are letting it down. I dont think I have ever been so disappointed.

I was so looking forward to staying at the tourist park and being able to walk to the Seahorse Inn for a drink and something to eat.
1st time we were met by the barman wearing a sequin mask with no hello or how are you… but show me you have checked in otherwise you can’t be in here. I showed him that I had checked in no thank you but “what do you want to drink” I walked for a whiskey Sour and with a roll of the eyes he made it - the glass was only 1/2 full and for $18 I would have expected a full glass?? Check out the Byron Bay hotel same drink $16 full glass! I then asked to see the menu and I got “no food now” I said ok what time does lunch finish to which he said “1”…. It was 2 mins to 1.

Two days later we went back again and met by the same barman saying “show Le you have checked in otherwise you won’t be served” I showed him and I then got “where is your mask” I said oh no I have left it on my caravan, do you have spare ones here otherwise it’s quite a big walk up and back and was a hot day - I got “thanks ok we are not closing for hours”… I walked back got my mask then headed back and ordered the whiskey sour again and was amazed that for $18 you actually only get 1/2 glass!

He once again rolled his eyes when I asked for this.

The good thing was we meant some lovely people who camps there every year and they said the food and service has never been great….. at least it wasn’t just us!

Within sight of the sea, this interesting "out of the way" complex (hotel, restaurant, "pub") attests to an historical past. There is even a miniature "Boyd tower" at the front. It is not, however, kitsch or disney. Architecturally almost "gothic revival" the interior is pleasantly up to date without being ultramod. On entering there was a formal and reassuringly responsible covid plan implemented. The restaurant was spacious and pleasant with the option of eating (semi?) outside. No intrusive music. Much sea food on offer plus "turf" dishes, salads, pasta etc with mains around $25 to $ 35. Wine started at around $ 36 a bottle and a generous glass of very drinkable house red or white ran to $ 8 and up. Cold tap water happily provided. Plenty of parking and excellent loos. Service good but due to covid, ordering food and drinks were at different bars - but food delivered to the table. Happy to revisit.

While spending a few days in Eden we ventured out to the Seahorse Inn boydtown for dinner and we amazed by the beauty of the location and building. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the local Crayfish Mornay was Devine. By far the best place we ate during our visit to the coast.

These days it’s an elegant hotel and restaurant on sprawling grounds, adjacent to the beach and with uninterrupted views over the bay to Eden. It started as part of the failed 1840’s Boydtown dream, was abandoned but brought back to life in the 1930’s.
We arrived in the last half-hour of lunch service so not greeted as enthusiastically (I get it), the lunch menu seemed a bit pedestrian for the price, so we settled for drinks.
We were almost alone. It was May but the weather was stunning, the views sublime and it was just us and another table. Boydtown failed because it was too remote.
I was captivated by the place and will return. I could easily imagine the hotel packed to the rafters in the season and diners queuing for a table in the restaurant so I’ll book.

We were stranded due to recent bushfires and needed to find accommodation at short notice. So glad we dropped in. Staff were wonderful and our room had the most comfortable bed and lovely view of the beach. Rather than stress about where we should have been, we were able to relax in this wonderful location and enjoy a wine and walk along the beach. We enjoyed our dinner and Continental Breakfast. Please consider a trip to Eden and support a great Hotel. The impact of recent fires on local businesses has been hard, but they are doing a great job of supporting locals.

Hi coming for a wedding at the seahorses inn, what accommodation is available nearby the hotel please? (It's fully booked)

The trip advisor map will show you alternative accommodation: and the nearby caravan park has cabins I surmise. It's quite close on foot by a driveway to the Seahorse Inn, I think from memory.
