Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed in the Carriage House Saturday and Sunday night. It was a really wonderful experience. The garden between the carriage house and the Inn was a great place to sit and have enjoy a conversation with some local friends. The Carriage House is very well outfitted with plates, glasses, spices etc. It even has a full washer/dryer! We would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to our friends.
The location is great since it is a short walk to downtown Nevada City, and within walking or biking distance to local hiking and biking trails.

Lovely Nevada City inn, with caring innkeepers Julia and Ron. They are seasoned innkeepers, knowing how to include just the right amount of information and contact. All of the touches at the inn were well thought out- all items in the guest dining area are clearly labeled so that you don't have to worry if you are shaking cinnamon or chocolate onto your coffee. Just a lovely, lovely stay (two nights) and I'd be delighted to stay again.

This Inn is lovely - so well thought out and appointed. Our room was really nice and comfortable. There's a cute little sunroom with everything you could need as far as tea, coffee, ice maker, small fridge, microwave, fruit, homemade biscotti - even a little breakfast tray to take things down to the backyard, which is gorgeous, with many little comfortable seating areas. The owners made us feel so welcome and gave great recommendations for restaurants, local hikes, etc. The location is perfect - right at the start of downtown and close to a pretty little hike to the river & suspension bridge. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

Broad Street Inn is a lovely inn and a short walking distance to downtown Nevada City restaurants and shops. The inn and grounds are well maintained, clean and cozy and the hosts - Ron and Julie - are friendly and helpful. Each room is beautifully decorated. While no breakfast is served, there is fruit, oatmeal packages, and delicious biscotti available in the upstairs sun room. Coffee, tea, a refrigerator and microwave are also available for guests. I highly recommend!

The Broad Street Inn is a wonderful escape from city life! We have stayed here before and appreciate the fact that it is quiet, comfortable and within walking distance of downtown Nevada City. Ron and Julie are very receptive hosts and provide what one needs to start one's day in California history. I highly recommend the Broad Street Inn!

We visit Nevada CIty often, and commonly stay with friends who live there, but their son was home from college and the house seemed crowded, so we booked a room at the Broad Street. We were so pleased with that choice!
Very appealing from the outside, BSI has beautiful trees, flowers and a fountain out front, with a comfortable porch from which to watch the world go by. Out back there is a 2-level patio and courtyard, again very attractively landscaped. Keep your eyes open and look around, there are little statues and garden art everywhere. Coffee, tea, cocoa and goodies are served in the upstairs sunroom in the morning and can be enjoyed in the sunroom or out back.
Our room, the only one on the first floor, was cozy with decor I would describe as mostly early 20th century, although I am by no means a design expert. The bed was very comfortable and the bath well-appointed. The rooms are not spacious, but certainly comfortable for 2 people.
Ron and Julie are gracious hosts, and we enjoyed chatting with them on check-in and departure. We had just finally, after 15 years together, become officially married, and it turned out to also be Ron and Julie's anniversary week, so that was fun!
I would note that there is only one first floor room, and the stairs to the second floor are steep and narrow. If you have any mobility concerns, I would advise a phone call to verify availability of the one accessible room before booking.
Also, the single first floor room faces the street, and even with the drape closed we found the light from the street a bit intrusive until the street lights went off around 2a.m. We did mention this, and both Ron and Julie indicated they intended to put a black out curtain in that room.
Prices are really very reasonable for an Inn of such good quality.
As others have mentioned, BSI is a very short walk to "downtown" Nevada City, which is loaded with good restaurants, fun bars and interesting shops (if you like interesting world imports and world music, check out Yabobo! For ethnic clothing and jewelry see Aylum Down).
We will definitely stay at BSI again when we are back in Nevada City, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Spent the weekend in Nevada City for a wedding, and was beyond satisfied with our stay at Broad Street Inn! Julie and Ron were so thoughtful and accommodating with everything they offer at the inn. Our room was adorable, and had everything we needed. The sun room is also equipped with water, ice, coffee, a refrigerator, dishes, etc--everything you'd typically find at a BnB. The patio was cozy and peaceful for a night cap after an evening downtown. This place is also very affordable compared to other options in the area. Hands down, highly recommend!! Can't wait to stay here again in the future.

After attending a wedding in Grass Valley, we wanted to explore a bit in Nevada City and booked two rooms for an overnight stay at Broad Street Inn. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Everything about our visit was upscale; Cleanliness, Charm, Accommodations. The rooms are small, though very well appointed with attention to detail. There is even an iron and small ironing board. Other reviews detail all the perks, so I won't repeat. Ron and Julie are delightful hosts, keeping themselves available for questions and tips on where to go. Unfortunately, my daughter took ill and wasn't able to enjoy our adventure into town. Since we had to check out and the Inn was closing down for some contracted work, Julie suggested she rest up at the library near by. There was live music on that day and she would be out of the summer heat; Very thoughtful! Since it was Monday, some of the shops were closed, though still a nice browsing experience. The hat shop, (didn't catch the name) had a great selection. It's comforting to know where to stay, should I return to Nevada City.

Thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Broad Street Inn. Short walk to dowtown, yet on a quiet block. This Inn stands out because of the attention to detail in the rooms and throughout the property. It is quaint and historic, yest with modern amenities. Very clean. Friendly hosts full of local knowledge. We didn't expect breakfast but were pleasantly surprised with delcious coffee, home made biscotti and oatmeal in the shared kitchen/sitting area. That was a nice plus. The backyard courtyard is so pretty. We loved the fall colors and peaceful feel. We'll be back. Highly recommend.

Our Broad Street Inn experience was nothing short of sublime.
The Inn is situated at the top of the hill overlooking downtown, close enough to walk but far enough to find parking. The rooms are clean, cozy, and perfect for an individual or couple looking for a non-commercial experience.
The owners are friendly and knowledgeable of activities to do around Nevada City. They make the Inn feel like home, providing a spread of coffee and snacks (homemade biscotti) in the communal kitchen area. Moreover, they went the extra mile for us, adjusting our room reservation at the last minute to accommodate our needs and even save us money.

Thanks for your inquiry! Only Room #1 is on the ground floor. All of the rooms have a tub/shower combo.
We don’t serve wine, however wine glasses/ opener and refrigerator are available in the sun room. Our back yard is lovely to enjoy your beverages and perhaps a homemade biscotti!
Last several years there hasn't been much snow. The higher you go the better chance there is of snow. You would also have a better chance during the Christmas holidays. Snow or not it is a beautiful place for any holiday !
Hello Barbara,
Thank you for your interest in the Broad Street Inn. Unfortunately, all six of our rooms have 1 queen bed.
Cheers,
Valerie
