For several years, my husband and I have stayed at this hotel to visit a family member who lives close by. There are many pros of staying this hotel and some cons but I believe the pros far outweigh the cons. The Pros: 1. The price is very reasonable for San Diego area. Downtown is 15 minutes away by car....

I had to attend my Annual two-week Training at the Navy base in San Diego. I chose this hotel because it is very close to the 28th street exit and gate I only stayed one night at the Clarion hotel. The parking was included but did not have security to patrol the parking lot. They did have surveillance cameras, no...

Fortunately we were only there for one night. My first impression was awful! The lobby looked messy but I had to admit that the lady who helped us with the check in was very nice. We went up to our floor and when elevator doors opened we weren't sure if we were in the attic or manteinance room, the walls...

We had free hotel points and trip advisor said this place had excellent reviews so we tried it out. First impressions are huge! There are signs everywhere regarding security and when we pull up, the security guy is smoking in the parking lot. No baggage guys to greet you or anything. We walk through what appears to be the back...

Pleasant staff. As choice members we were greeted with a welcome bag of bottled water and chips...a nice touch. The room, although very outdated, was sufficiently clean. The shower walls could use additional attention to the grout as mildew was present. The A/C was very loud when turning on/off, thus we kept the fan running at night to keep from...

This was our first stay at the Clarion Hotel. It is impressive looking from the outside and our Thursday evening late check in was pleasant in a nice lobby with complimentary 24 hour coffee and water both hot and iced with tea available. It also has two complimentary to use computers in the lobby. There were two elevators which led...

We stayed in National City after booking an impromptu weekend trip to San Diego. The Clarion is a great value but you are getting what you pay for, rooms overall are clean and staff are very helpful. Walk to the train is takes you through the underpass and can be scary especially at night. But it is easy to take...

Just an average hotel from the mid 60s in need of serious revamping. Good for a night's stay or two if you don't mind the much needed revamp. The city of San Diego is really nice, just some of the neighboring cities that are questionable. This hotel offers plenty of parking in their own underground lot, but suffers adequate lighting....

Overall you get what you pay for. It was a last minute weekend getaway away for us and it's good for a night or 2 max. We used Uber go to the Gaslamp District and downtown which wasn't too expensive. Staff was friendly, the building is dated but it is a step above a Motel 6.
