We loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed for longer! It is really spacious and clean, the free/donation based breakfast was excellent and the overall vibe of the place is really calm but friendly. There is free parking and most of the places to see in Monterey are walkable. As everyone else has said, the showers are...

Our travel plans changed and we wanted to stay in Monterey - booked online that afternoon! Best thing was the social breakfast, free pancakes and cereal and a nice communal place to eat. We had a great chat which got us in a great mood for the day (vagabond, surfing sister you know who you are! - please get in...

Great hostel! Clean and organized with amazing communal areas. The beds are really nice, perfect for resting after a long day walking around. They have a 3,5 minutes shower policy, but the showers are great and it is enough. I only stayed for one night, but the hostel seemed ideal for a prolonged stay for someone looking to explore the...

I was on a backpack trip with a friend down the coast of California over the Christmas break. We stayed at this hostel on Christmas day and were greeted with a bunch of friendly faces of people from all over. There was even a big feast, giving opportunity to meet and talk to new people. We were told about all...

After a terrific experience at the two HI hostels in San Diego, I wanted to see if the experience could be replicated closer to home. Nice clean hostel in a quiet part of the town, friendly staff. HI staff hosted a Christmas dinner - good food & enjoyable conversations in a big, spacious living/dining room. Learned a lot more about...

I had one night on my own after visiting friends in San Jose. I took a shuttle from the San Jose airport that dropped me off at my hostel. Since I wanted my own room , I had to take one for five people at about $89.US/ night. Other rooms in the surrounding area were several hundred, so it was...

Such a great hostel. I've done a bit of traveling and stayed in every type of hostel, and this place is definitely doing it right. I Just moved to the Monterey area a few days before Christmas and I didn't know anyone in the area, so I decided to spend Christmas eve and day there. Great decision, as the staff...

I have stayed at many hostels around the world and this one is one of the best considering location , cost, amenities, etc. It is still a hostel and should be compared to other hostels. I have stayed here 3 times over many years and still rate it highly. Seeing how much other accommodations cost in the area makes this...

The motel/hotel rates all appear to be through the roof in Monterrey. That is why is was such a pleasant surprise to find this gem. The place was clean and comfortable, plus contained a large common space 'living room' to relax in. They provide you tokens for a shower (each token is worth 3.5 minutes) but they give you three...

I stayed here two nights on a cross country trip from TN so hostels are a must when I'm able to save money. Never did I ever think I was about to stay in something so beautiful and nice! I mean, any hostel international place holds up pretty good standards of what a hostel should be but this just blew...
