Great location for short tourist stay. Enjoyed the vibe and decor, as well as the excellent diner next door. Shame that the service was absolutely terrible and the room quite dirty (especially the carpet!). Without explicit request (in advance) you won’t receive enough toilet paper or clean towels and your room will NOT be cleaned. We requested more pillows (so we’d have two per person) and were told not enough pillows were available. Staff barely greet you when you enter the hotel. We asked when the only ice machine on the premises would be fixed and got a mere shrug of the shoulders. You’re told valet parking is obligatory (and quite expensive, by the way), but then you have to wait for the often-absent valet. We were told he’d start work at 7am, but at 7:15 there was nobody and we had to get the car ourselves. A cool place to stay, shame that they don’t bother hiring polite and competent staff. Having enough towels and toilet paper should be the basics! Would’ve liked to give feedback at check-out, but we weren’t asked whether we enjoyed our stay. We wouldn’t return.

Location is walking distance to the Original Famers Market which is good for supplies and food also walking distance to the Museum Miles. The hotel itself is fitted out in retro style and has a real charm to it. The pool is a welcome relief even if cold. If hungry there is a really cool diner in the complex called Swingers. The staff that we met were friendly and helpful. The toiletries were great as well. Downside is that they don’t service the rooms so if you are there for an extended time you have to ask for clean towels every day and you have to change your rubbish. The hanging area in the cupboard isn’t suitable for dresses as quite short. But all in all we really enjoyed our stay and can recommend it yo first time visitors to LA.

14 days in this hotel. Our first trip to LA. cosy hotel in the sense that it was cheap, though small rooms, was a little disappointed when we arrived. The reception was really nice, however there was a certain night guard who was really angry. There was a night when we woke up with 2 fire cars outside the hotel, my son went down and looked, and was thrown away by him from the reception. Of course we will check if there is a fire. Knowledge that there were forest fires near LA during that period. We rented a car, they parked the car for us, plus picked it up. it was luxury. located close to all the good sights, we also used Uber which seemed great. we wanted a hotel with pool, but we did not actually use the pool once. :-) There is so much to see in LA, so sunbathing was not something we used on this trip. Please use getyourguide for tours, super cheap after all a very expensive city. Beverly Center was a short walk away, where you ate fine. Farmers Market really cozy. good food, and culture experience. Wouldn't just take this hotel again, would probably lie just 5000kr DKK more in the hotel and get a bigger and better comfort. Used Easton Gym which is a retro gym, really nice place - though a bit sluggish but training was a must for me and the kid. We paid 1500 kr together for 1 week of training.

While I loved the retro look of the Beverly Laurel, it is "all hat and no knickers," as we say in the UK.
Swimming in the pool is gorgeous, but your feet get caked in gravel when you get out. Landline phones in the rooms - which I needed to use as I was having trouble with my UK mobile - don't phone out, and the receptionist just laughed it off when I raised this.
I've never stayed in a hotel where you have to actively request to get your room cleaned, but that's the case here. Lastly, when I got home to the UK I was horrified to realise that I had bed bug bites on my legs from my stay. (See photo). I contacted the hotel twice and just got tumbleweed. (I now see that I'm not the first guest to experience this).
On a positive note, Swingers diner next door does excellent food, and their team are all so friendly. I'd go back there next time in LA, but never to the Beverly Laurel!

My wife and I have stayed here several times in the past with no complaints. It had quickly become our go-to for Los Angeles travel (we tend to fly out to Los Angeles once or twice a year). We tend to like cool, little boutique places and this one checked all of the boxes. Unfortunately, this time was the last time we will be staying there. They suddenly implemented a $25/day valet charge for a service that is inconvenient (the attendant is oftentimes absent). We had to wait a bit for our room since it was being 'cleaned' only to find that the floors were filthy. Immediately after we checked in, I took my socks off and walked around a bit only to find that the bottoms of my feet were pitch black. My wife ended up with a pretty bad sinus infection as the trip went on. It was probably inevitable given we went to a couple concerts and we were screaming our heads off, but the amount of dust and dirt that was getting kicked around by our feet or by the windows being open certainly didn’t help. We stayed there for a week (non-refundable stay otherwise we would have left for somewhere/anywhere else) and didn't hear or see a single vacuum while the one or two maids on premises were going from room to room for turnover each day...and every room has carpeting. I'll leave it at that. Stay somewhere else in the area. The Fairfax area is an amazing and central area to stay if you're in town, but please look into some of the other up and coming lodging options around there that seem better suited for a vacation than the disappointing and frustrating stay we just had

The hotel had a cool 1940/50s style that was really great. Everything was in immaculate condition and very clean. We loved how the rooms were built around a totally enclosed quadrangle with a nice swimming pool and relaxation area. The room itself was large with a spacious shower. While the hotel itself didn't have a restaurant, next door was the very popular 'Swingers Diner' which had long opening hours as well as great food and drink. The location was good and well served by bus routes which were easy to use and very cheap. While it is LA and you always have to be careful walking around, especially at night, we did so sensibly and never felt unsafe. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. A special mention to the young handyman who greeted us in the parking area as he was very helpful; he's a great asset to the hotel.
Perhaps some form of eating area might be useful for guests as while 'The Swingers Diner' next door was really good it did get very busy. However, to be honest there is really nothing we could ask this hotel to improve. It was unique, comfortable, and provided exactly what we wanted.

Then the hotel is in a good location and the staff was very friendly and professional. Valet service and free parking great. BUT the cleaning especially of the stairs and common parts leaves something to be desired. The room was large, functional. The shower less with the shower head only in the top center so uncomfortable for those who shower without wanting to wet their hair. Let's say for the price I paid, I expected more. Surely the price affects the location. Comfortable Swinger under the hotel for breakfast

Stayed for three nights at the start of September in a Premium Suite. It was very spacious with a living area and the bathroom was pretty big. We had a pleasant stay and for the money we paid it was good value. The location was great, central and walking distance to the farmer's market.
However there was no floor length mirrors in such a spacious room with so much wall space. No convenient plugs for charging phones in bedroom. We also had a broken window (looked like a bird had flown into it), the TV didn't work in the bedroom, building work outside waking us up at the crack of dawn even on a weekend and also it did sound like elephants were upstairs. The front desk was friendly, had no issues - there only seemed to be one member of staff working at all times though.
We didn't use the pool but it didn't look to get much sunlight. However the area looked nice. We dined at the Swingers Diner next door which was convenient. Parking was $27 a night, however this is cheaper than a lot of other hotels I looked at.
It's not going to be a 5* star stay but it's not terrible if you're looking for something central and not too expensive.

What a perfect place in walking distance to shops, the Grove and quick drive to everything we wanted to do. Loved the room and the courtyard. The pool is not heated and you have to pay $27 US/night (worked out to about $40 CDN) valet parking if you want to park on site. The staff were wonderful and very friendly and helpful at check in. We would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip:Parking is $27 US/night. Street parking is available but is more of a hassle. Microwave didn’t work.

The front desk staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel has a lot of character and, despite its age, has undergone some trendy upgrades. It is ideally located and well priced, and the rooms are large and comfortable. The rooms are a bit dated and there is a slight grunge factor. We could’ve used an additional option to the rain shower head, but the bathroom was more than sufficient. Slick diner next-door was a definite bonus. We would definitely stay at the Beverly Laurel again.
