We stayed at Level Los Angeles - Downtown South Olive for 3 nights in a 2-bedroom junior suite. The location in DTLA is excellent—close to several restaurants and easy to get around using Uber.
The suite was perfect for our family of four, offering all the amenities we needed. The Wi-Fi was fast but limited to only 5 devices, which can be a bit restrictive if you're traveling with a family and multiple gadgets.
Unfortunately, the elevator situation was a major drawback during our stay. On the day we arrived, only one of the four elevators was working, leading to long wait times and overcrowding. The following morning, even that single elevator stopped working, and we had to walk down 16 flights of stairs—only to find a terrible smell and human waste on the stairway exit. This was a huge inconvenience. Thankfully, the elevator issue was resolved by the afternoon, and things were smooth afterward.
Despite this, I would still recommend the hotel for its location, spacious suites, and amenities. Hopefully, the elevator maintenance is improved for future guests!

Located in the city center, it has a subway stop about 500 meters that connects you to Santa Monica, Hollywood and other areas we visit. The apartment very spacious and that was the smallest they have. It is very well equipped and very quiet, although as happened in San Francisco, there is usually excessive noise outside and that we were on the 18th floor. There is always someone at reception who speaks Spanish

The one bed two bath apartment with a balcony was well stocked with resources to cook and was laundry.it was very clean and we were provided with extra toiletries when requested. Bear in mind you get charged extra if you ask for room service. Water took at least 10mins to heat up. The first room we had was down a hallway that smelled of drugs even though this is advertised as a non smoking hotel. We did get moved very quickly. What let this hotel down was only 4 lifts for 33 floors you were always waiting for an empty lift. Many bars and restaurants close by. The Exchange had a really good roof top bar. Cafe was really good too.

Level Hotel at DTLA exceeded our expectations. The suite was reasonably priced, modern and beautiful with high end Sub-Zero and Bosch appliances. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The amenities were amazing, including a very cool rooftop outdoor movie theatre. It’s pet friendly, clean and very comfortable. Having an in-unit Maytag washer and dryer was the icing on the cake. We have found our new place to stay when visiting our son in DTLA.

First time staying at this property was a great experience. We stayed in a 2bd 2ba sky tower and the decor was modern and sleek. The views were beautiful and our balcony was furnished. The bathrooms were large and I loved that we had a full size tub to soak in. The kitchen was fully functional and was impressed with the subzero fridge that provided filtered water.
This hotel has a full court basketball, pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, foosball and ping pong tables. There’s also a great space to chill and bbq on gas grills that they provide. I really love the cleanliness of the recreation area. It’s definitely well kept. My family and I had a great time playing all the games provided.
The staffing is amazing. They’re very friendly, attentive, informative and will help you with any of your needs. Level is a definite place to stay if you need a place in the heart of LA!

We were actually there for 3 nights, but we were delayed for 1 night because of the flight. The man at the reception with black and red fingernails was very unfriendly and said our room was no longer available, even though we had informed him of the delay by email the day before (he claimed that he hadn't received an email 🙈), and then gave us another dirty room! I was very upset and his colleague finally gave us a great room at night. Then the vacation could begin, great location, downtown, supermarket nearby, Starbucks too, great valet parking, Genius member free instead of $49 The pool is also nice You can get to everything in LA very quickly

The facilities are gorgeous, the rooms looks just like the pictures. The staff on the other hand was completely rude. From the second we pulled into the valet driveway, no one greeted us, so I parked and began to get off to go check in, then they acknowledged me and told me to park somewhere else. Check in staff wasn’t bad, but one thing they don’t open list on their website is all the rules. * BE ADVISED - at check in they cover and make you initial for all these rules. Some standard (noise) some not so standard (you can not at any point have more than 4 people in your room at any time, the other was agreeing to let security come in at anytime, and breaking any of the rules would be an automatic eviction with no refund), I really thought that some were extreme but figured it was just a precaution for them.
Once we got into our room, as mentioned above, it was gorgeous, but there was a huge white stain on the couch and we were missing a shower curtain. After calling guest services they sent one up and just handed it to us at the door for us to put up. It wasn’t even big enough to cover half the shower. An hour later, the toilet ended up plugged. We called guest services and requested a plunger, they said they would send one up. Fast forward 45 mins and we had to call again to check in and learned the first request had never been input. This time when they showed up instead of coming in to repair, said “I’ll wait for it until it’s done.” This was not a great first impression of this hotel
Because we went with friends for a concert, we had two separate rooms, 4 in one and 3 in the other. After the concert we went up to the room, poured a drink and we’re sitting around talking about how great the show was, we weren’t being loud, but heard a bang on the door. We answered and there was two guys in black suits. They told us, we were watching the cameras and saw all of you come in here. So no complaints from neighbors had been called in, again we were just sitting around talking. One stayed at the door the other came and literally went into every room looking for people, even went on to the patio, we all stayed where we were in the living/dining room in complete shock while this happened. We told security that we were all guest of the hotel and had another room and we weren’t all staying in one room. He replied “you can either ask them to go back to their room or I can ask you all to leave the premises” to avoid issues, we went to our room but were in complete shock that they had done this.
For the amount of money we paid and for not being loud or being a problem like that, we should have never been treated in this way. We will NEVER stay here again!

The level is an interesting place to stay from the beginning; the concierge/receptionist male treated me like I was not wanted there. I reiterated to him for the third time after I called twice letting previous recipients know that I was a platinum VIP member with Orbitz and that Orbitz screen asks me to let the hotel know that I can get an upgrade if available and that I should get wine or champagne for each day I plan to stay. The concierge said we provide champagne or wine and said it would be delivered later that night. After a few hours I called again to the concierge and was told again someone will bring it to the room. It got late we went to bed and I called the concierge in the morning and I told them what happen and now got told that they did not have wine nor champagne to give me but that they can offer to comp me the valet parking. I never got an apology for stringing me along and not letting me know as soon as they knew. Next, I am happy with the service the maintenance worker provided to us. When he came to fix the TV controls he was nice nd showed that he cared and likes his job. The following issue we encountered was the three beds for the level being a four star living hotel were terrible. I had elderly people in one room where the bed squeaked, and it was hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. The sofa bed was thin and uncomfortable for my sister. The bed I stayed at with my daughter was squeaky, lumpy and hard. After giving 24 years to the Air Force and been away from my family for years my back cannot handle discomfort of this type and I did not ever believe that I would experience it at a four star hotel. I loved the kitchen the laundry room and machine. The room was spacious and beautiful with a nice balcony. Overall, it was an amazing experience in the end. Thank you for all you do.

We appreciate your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. Firstly, we sincerely apologize for the less than welcoming experience you had with our concierge/receptionist. This does not align with our standards, and we are committed to ensuring that every guest feels valued and appreciated. Regarding your Platinum VIP membership with Orbitz, we regret any confusion or inconvenience caused by the miscommunication regarding the champagne or wine. We would like to investigate this matter further to ensure it doesn't happen in the future. Additionally, we are glad to hear about the positive experience with our maintenance worker and your overall satisfaction with the room amenities. However, we are genuinely sorry to hear about the discomfort with the beds. Your feedback is crucial, and we would appreciate more details about your reservation so that we can address these issues and ensure a more seamless experience for future stays. Kindly provide additional details to agonzales@stayinglevel.com. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to welcome you back for an improved experience in the future.

I should have researched before checking into this place. Although there are a few good things about this place like being a newer building furnished with a kitchen & washer/dryer, having good amenities (pool, jacuzzi, steam, sauna, basketball court, fitness center, ping-pong table, bbq grills, gas fire pits, and great views of Downtown Los Angeles), all attributes which can be found online, being close to LA Live, other restaurants, bars & grocery stores, there are many cons that aren't mentioned unless one has experience staying here. After the newness wore off about a week or so, I found out this particular furnished hotel is known as the party drug hotel and I guess that's great for those coming here to party, get wasted and/or high on marijuana (strong smell), and pull pranks like pulling the fire alarm in the middle of the night, throwing liquids off the balcony onto guests walking by, or more disgusting like tossing used condoms onto other's balconies below as well as trash. That is the kind of trashiness that occurs here due to the majority of the crowds that stay here. Also, the area outside seems dangerous most of the time and especially at night. I heard gunshots, protesting fireworks, and many homeless laying all around this building. Worst was having guests over when we witnessed a person fall to his death off the neighboring building at 825 S Hill. Other annoying things about this place is that they use DISH which is horrible and the internet is so spotty or not working in certain suites or floors. Forget about taking a good shower or washing your hands with the bad plumbing fixtures or hot water that can't be adjusted so it's either super hot or super cold. Had the AC go out several times especially when it's warmer weather and/or it can't handle the number of occupants. The bed and pillows are not comfortable and even after supposedly cleaning, found previous guests hair all over the floor. Few exceptional staff members but the others seem disinterested in helping and I unfortunately witnessed the front desk personnel being rude to guests many times. All in all, if you're only interested in partying and getting wasted with other partiers, I guess this is the place to stay. If you're a family, couple, business professional, etc who cares about safety, cleanliness, comfort, customer service, reliable internet, and rest, I would suggest you consider other staying options.

I spoke with the hotel directly to ask the same question and they indicated that the policy is 4 adults, to avoid parties and such. If any of the five guests are children, you’re fine. I have a family of five myself.

Yes, the hotel doesn't allow guests if there are four of you (you can read my review). Also note that soon after I posted a negative review, someone posted a positive review -- but that person is from *Pasadena*! Who lives in Pasadena but books a room a few miles away in DTLA? So that review seems fake.
