I was in a disastrous Airbnb and had to get out and find a reasonably priced hotel in downtown LA near my son. Loved it! Luxurious? No - but the bed was great, the TV was large, the wakeup calls were in time and the shower had great hot water (after a few minutes) Also down the block from Grand...

Disappointed from the moment we walked in! We had 3 twin rooms booked for 6 adults - the rooms were tiny and very basic. There was enough room for 1 suitcase on the floor not two and the beds were to small and had inadequate bedding. The bathroom was very small, water pressure and temperature was erratic and in one...

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Staff are extremely rude, including General manager. I tried to resolve a dispute over a room charge, and could not reach the manager for 4 days. When he finally called me back, he was rude saying it was my mistake..yelled at me. Don't change your reservation by one...

Very small rooms - a king-size bed would not fit in one. Small TV, cheap furniture. Hardly anywhere to put a suitcase. Small shower. Very strong pot smell during the night like a party was going on. Not recommended

Hotel staff, kind. Walls, floor, ceiling, very very NOT sound proof. You hear everything. Thankful for two pillows, so we can place them on our ears. I got very little sleep. Our room very small, limited space for luggage. Beautiful entrance to the hotel, room is clean, hallways slanted

For litigators this is a cherished find. A 3 minute walk away from the Stanley Mosk Superior Court, no traffic worries, no anxiety and a comfie solution that won't break the budget. Their remodel was well conceived. Large new beds, pillows, soft towels and a compact tech center with crisp free wifi. The flooring was new, the place was clean...

4 stars because Kawada was almost everything I needed it to be .. reasonably priced, perfect location ( Colburn School) - clean + comfortable w/ very accommodating staff. No food over weekend - but Central Market very close... would stay again

We're generally good with budget, especially if the location is right, but this was just a bit too budget for us. Smaller than expected, with the bathroom right at the foot of the bed (and the door didn't close fully). The deal breaker, though, was the hot-cold-hot shower, sometimes a dribble, sometimes more.

Very small room with a most peculiar odour that was at times overpowering. Maybe an option for one night but would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for longer stays. Located in Downtown LA close to good food court but long walk to places of interest.

The hotel somehow has an air of Japanese serenity, and though our room was small it had all the usual amenities. Best yet, it's a short walk to the Grand Central Market with its many ethnic food vendors, and only a slightly longer trek to the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the MOCA. The DASH bus stop is only a...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
