DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I used to live downtown LA, but have since moved a couple hours away. I still go back to get my hair done once in a while. Booked last Friday night hoping to have a nice evening at the rooftop bar (which HAD been one of my favorites) then wake up the next day for...

This hotel is gross. It felt like a themed hotel you'd find in Disney Land or Vegas, but instead of a pirate, circus or medieval theme, this place is all about having and encouraging meaningless sex with other guests. The room I stayed in smelled awful as well. Stay away from The Standard

Great Downtown Location, but really minimal rooms, staff not very friendly, worst house keeping ever (experience from over 50 hotel bookings in the USA) that each day you have to ask for things that they should be on their list, free "wifi" barely lets you check emails, poor heating (cold rooms in late October). Ask for extra blankets. Breakfast is...

First of all, I must say, the staff is great. Valet, reception and housekeeping are all top-notch. Everyone went out of their way to greet and resolve issues. And, if you are young (or not so young) and nimble, or have small children in tow, I would whole-heartedly recommend this place ( as long as you don't mind REALLY slow...

If you are looking for a different hotel experience then it is worth giving The Standard a try. It is a 10 minute walk to LA Live area and many restaurants, bars & attractions close by. Why is it not standard ? Bed is about 18 inches off the floor, no clock, 1 chair, sparse decorating and your shower having...

This hotel is definitely somewhere where you want to be. Located in downtown it has plenty to choose from. Staff is excellent and they keep smiling. The drinks are poored very well and the food is something you would come back for on its own. 5/5

Stayed there for 2 nights .. Had to wait until 4pm to check in.... We arrived at 1pm. We were shattered and jet lagged. There was no sense of urgency with girl on reception and she demonstrated zero flexibility even though it was a Monday check in. We hung around the lobby and she kept on giving rooms to other...

We read on the Internet that this rooftop bar was one of the best in downtown LA. The view is nice but the staff and customer service is the worst. Staff is rude and made us wait for a long time before we got some food menus. The waiter never came back to take our order, heat lamps didn't work...

From the retro-cool, diner-style first floor restaurant to the barbershop to the rooftop pool and bar, The Standard is an oasis in the great sea of sameness in hotels these days. Where else can you find a bottle of Mr. Bubble or Harry's shave kit or branded condoms in your room mini-bar to accompany the usual booze, snacks and candy?...

My college age daughter and I stayed at the Downtown LA Standard. It's a cool reuse of a building but could have some basic improvements. Bearing in mind that I am probably not the target demographic, I still think there's a few things to change. It needs more lights--there's no overhead in the "hall" where the big mirror is. So...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
