Hotel Normandie stands out for its cleanliness and historical charm, with many guests appreciating its well-kept rooms and elegant, vintage decor. The staff's friendly service, including complimentary wine and efficient text communication, often receives high praise. However, noise can be an issue due to thin walls, and some reviewers point out the hotel's signs of aging. While the central location in Koreatown is lauded for its convenience, the value perception is mixed, with some guests deterred by high parking fees and costly amenities.

It was well located with restaurants and grocery store at walking distance. Even though it was close to metro stations we only used Uber. Staff was friendly and helpful.

My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Normandie five times since June of 2022 for various trips to LA and it feels like it gets better every time!

The staff is incredibly attentive, friendly and helpful and their text concierge service is an added and appreciated bonus that makes communicating with the staff a breeze. We've seen so many familiar faces in our multiple stays and it is always nice to see our favorites again.

Parking is ample and conveniently located kitty corner from the hotel with a valet staff that goes above and beyond to get your car parked and make sure it is safe and secure for the length of your stay. HUGE peace of mind during a vacation or staycation.

The neighborhood is clean and quiet, while still giving you the energy that makes a big city feel alive. Coming back at night from concerts or dinners feels very comfortable and the hotel's overnight door policy provides an extra level of security to those late night returns.

The hotel itself is dripping with charm from all of the art and furniture in the lobby to the showstopping gigantic ornate fireplace and water feature, there's a lot to look at enjoy before you've even checked in. The social hour with multiple wine choices that happens nightly in the lobby is also a thoughtful and welcome amenity that we've enjoyed many times.

Once in your room, period appropriate furniture and decor is everywhere but you also have all of the modern creature comforts to boot. The usb port outlets in a couple of spots throughout our room was a great touch for charging all of our devices.

Clean bathrooms with SO much original salvaged tile and fixtures give you a great peek into how the Normandie must have looked when it opened and the provided toiletries are very high quality and smell great.

Clean, crisp bed linens, comfortable pillows and a very good mattress has given us great night's sleep on every stay at this property. Having slept on a lot of bad hotel beds in my day, this is probably my favorite amenity at the Normandie and it makes a huge difference when staying multiple nights.

If you're hungry, the entire neighborhood has a ton of great options in a variety of cuisines, but there is something special about Cassell's Restaurant, attached to the lobby and open 7 days a week. Fantastic burgers, breakfast all day and an array of freshly made pies. Highest recommendation for a slice of the banana/dulce de leche pie, you'll thank me later.

All in all, the Normandie is a true gem!

My first time at this hotel and I would say it's a solid place to sleep at. The room does give you more of an old school style vibe. They don't have smart TV but I'm ok with regular TV.

Checking in was easy but I came in at 12am. Kevin did an amazing helping me.
I love the face that they offer purified water in each floors and the of course they have ice right next to it.

Another thing I like about this hotel is they have staffs that will send you text msg to check up on my needs and also asked if I needed a wake up call or cab the day before I checked out the place. I ended up msging them to that I want to checkout by 1pm. It is just that easy to communicate with them. CJ and Frankie were very helpful.
Checking out is 12:00pm but they offered until 1pm free of charge.

I will definitely recommend this spot since the price is reasonable and it's in Koreatown. There's alot of things you can eat and do there.

Too bad I didn't think about taking pictures now that I’m checkout.

Another thing is that, I realized I left a few items at the hotel and now it’s in their lost and found. They can hold it for a month or send a friend to pick it up or they can send it to you for a fee.

Bed and very comfortable pillows.
Good food in the restaurant. You can eat it there or take it.
In front there is a shop (Donuts King) where there are quite good sweets.
You have to ask to clean the room (put a sign on the door) as otherwise, they do not.
At reception they have small water bottles at 1 dollar + fees. It is well priced when compared to other sites, shops,...

My friend and I made a stop through LA and stayed here. We loved it. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The room was super clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the daily wine reception and the restaurant (Cassell’s) was great too. The staff at the restaurant was super nice, and offered great service. (The burger, fries, and Moscow mule were all delicious.) The only things that would’ve made it perfect is a full length mirror in the room and a microwave.

The hotel is well located in Korea Town. We wanted to stay here having enjoyed several visits to Seoul and from here had easy access on foot to many Korean restaurants.

It is a beautiful old heritage building. Our room was nice and clean.

The staff were friendly.

We booked through Hotels.com and our booking email advised of a US$20 credit in the hotel. We weren’t given this credit, however there was free wine tasting in the evening and free coffee in the morning available.

We had requested a quiet room, and it was quiet overnight. However, some loud equipment next to our room in the building started around 7am each day so we could not sleep in. When raised this was not resolved by the hotel. We would have appreciated a sleep in as we were jet lagged, however this did make sure we were up early seeing the sights of LA.

The hash browns in the hotels restaurant “Cassells” are huge!

Hotel is walking distance from restaurants. Overnight parking is pricey $40/night. Hotel staff were very accomodating. Room does bot have a microwave but when we requested one, they provided one complimentary. Hotel looks vintage. They have water and ice dispensers in every floor. Bed were neat and comfortable. Telephone in room was not working but they have a cellphone number that always texted us if we needed something.

We took many efforts to assure an early check-in as we began our departure from the East Coast at 4AM. I called the day before and the morning of was assured by the manager Adam that our room was 223 on the inside for quiet and we could early check-in if the room was ready. We arrived at 1 pm were told the staff was on break and would have to wait until 3 pm. During that period Francisco at the front desk made no effort to request that maid staff see to Rm 223. Shame as I he'd better memories of the Normandie.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced during your recent visit, especially after such an early start to your day. We understand how important it is to have your room ready when arriving earlier than expected, and we're sorry we weren’t able to accommodate an early check-in this time. We appreciate your understanding that early check-in is subject to room availability, and while our team does their best to prepare rooms as quickly as possible, it sounds like we fell short in keeping you informed and comfortable during your wait. We're also sorry that this impacted your overall impression of our service, as this is not the level of hospitality we aim to provide. Your feedback will be shared with the team, including Francisco and our housekeeping staff, so we can improve communication and make the check-in process smoother for future guests. We hope you will give us another chance to offer the experience you had previously enjoyed at the Normandie. Thank you again for your feedback, and please feel free to reach out if you decide to return so we can ensure a more pleasant stay.

The hotel is very beautiful, and the front desk staff is very friendly. The rooms are neither too big nor too small; they are very comfortable. We had no issues with noise, and all of our nights were peaceful. They offer free coffee and wine at certain hours. If I could add something to the room, it would be a full-length mirror, as I believe it’s essential and is really missing from the room. I would stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Los Angeles, and I would recommend it to anyone who asks. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel is that at the beginning of the stay, you have to make a $200 deposit, which I find excessive. It takes up to 14 business days to get your money back, and even longer for international banks.

Thank you so much for your glowing review! We’re thrilled to hear that you found our hotel beautiful, our front desk staff friendly, and the rooms comfortable and peaceful. It’s great to know that you enjoyed our complimentary coffee and wine offerings—they’re a guest favorite! We appreciate your suggestion about adding a full-length mirror to the rooms. This is valuable feedback, and we’ll certainly take it into consideration as we continue to improve our guest experience. Regarding the deposit, we understand your concerns, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. The deposit is a standard practice to ensure the comfort and security of all our guests, but we will review our processes to see how we can make this smoother, especially for our international visitors. Thank you for recommending us, and we’re delighted to hear that you’d choose to stay with us again on your next visit to Los Angeles. We look forward to welcoming you back!

Clean revitalized historic hotel. The attention to detail is incredible, from the soft warm lighting in the room to the way they fold the toilet paper. The beautiful hardwood floors, unbelievably comfortable bed, and the antiques furniture all help make this place feel like its 1920s heyday. Service was also wonderful and attentive and the room was spotless.

Unfortunately the hotel’s best traits, its age and its historic beauty, are also it’s biggest detractors and the reasons why I don’t think this particular property could ever reach the point of five stars anymore. Rooms are small. Walls are thin. Bathroom is cramped. I would also note that the location is not really walkable. (If you want coffee in the morning definitely consider walking down a block to Alfred at The Line, but that’s really your only option). That said if you have a car this location really can’t be beat as you’ll be less than 20 minute drive from Hollywood and less than a 20 minute drive from downtown. there’s also a metro stop down the street which is relatively convenient albeit not always necessarily going to take you exactly where you want to be.

If you’re trying to stay in Koreatown at a relatively trendy place because of the quick drive to tourism sights to the northwest and east your only options are this and The Line. The Line is definitely a step up. It has trendier furnishings that feel more like contemporary art than historic conservation and a pool. But The Line is also about 30% more expensive with parking that is more than double the cost. If you’re hoping to hang out at your hotel then stay at The Line. If you’re looking for a comfy place to sleep at night while you’re otherwise out touring, stay at the Normandie.

I can't recall the daily service fee however can talk about the LAX airport-hotel Normandie transfer. I just booked online a return trip with Super Shuttle. It was efficient, comfortable and very economical. It even turned up right on time at 3.30 in the morning to take me back to the airport - and I had booked it weeks before. I also pre-paid the tips when I made the booking and both drivers assured me that they would receive them. You just need to allow extra travel time as they may have other passengers to pick up or drop off. And I suppose depending on how many of you there are, a cab might be cheaper.
