The good: Valet is pricey ($54 per night) but very great service. In & out privileges. You can text the valet to have your car ready in advance, and the staff is super professional & attentive. Housekeeping was able to bring a microwave up to our room. This was very helpful. The bad and the ugly: Hotel staff, specifically the front desk, DID NOT ENFORCE THE MASK POLICY. Multiple people who weren’t wearing masks were able to check in without a hitch and then they — still unmasked — got into the elevators with us. I let the concierge know, but this situation happened again the next day. ROOMS ARE NOT SOUNDPROOF. We could hear the people in one of the rooms next door having fun, if you know what I mean. And we could even hear the iPhone dings (when one sends/receives texts) from the neighboring rooms. The SHOWER MAKES VERY LOUD SOUNDS when the hot water is on due to the pipe pressure. It’s very alarming, and it literally vibrates the entire shower. And the shower marble clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a long time because it was stained yellow. The HVAC system is old and fairly loud. One night THE HVAC WAS MAKING ANNOYING CLICKING NOISES and we had to call an engineer up to address the problem — not fun after a long day out. In the first room we were assigned, 2 OF THE LIGHTS WERE OUT — the main one in the bedroom and the backlight behind the bed. It was dark. The hotel sent an engineer up to confirm that the lights were out, and they switched our room — same type of room. This added about 45 minutes to our check-in.

Like you've guessed from the title, I have mixed feelings about this hotel. My family and I booked the wonderful guest room, 2 queen beds for one night. Quite honestly, I don't think I will be booking for any future nights as well. The hotel is situated in the middle of Hollywood. The walk of fame is its sidewalk. Within walking distance, you’ll find a CVS, Starbucks, and Shake Shack. Driving in to the valet lot, we were greeted by the valet attendant and the bellhop. The attendant thoroughly explained the 24 hour valet service and the incredibly steep valet price of $55/ night. I will say the lights that are strung above the parking are a nice touch, and maybe even nice enough to distract you from the price. We checked in and the receptionist was both friendly and helpful. She upgraded our room to the Fabulous 2 queen bedroom, which was a nice surprise. The lobby is impressive. It's not huge, but the tall ceilings and the sprawling staircase really make the place look grand. There are plenty of stylish sofas and chairs to lounge and a bar near as well. As for our room, it was quite average. We stayed on the 10th floor, which noted that each room was a suite, but it certainly didn't feel like one. The room was about average size with very low beds. Looking at the room from a far, it's also decorated stylishly. We liked the fact that many of the lights were dimmable, allowing us make it bright enough to do our makeup or dim enough for the evening. The bathroom, was modern, which had a marble scented shower and counter. But up close, the room shows how old this hotel is. The bed frame was chipped . The same is true for the lobby, with it's old, discolored, and tattered sofas. While, that's only one aspect of the hotel, I really disliked the housekeeping service. We asked for 2 sets of toiletries, 2 tissue boxes and 4 pairs of slippers at around 8:30. We were told that it would take about 15-20 minutes, which we were more than willing to wait. After 30 minutes, with none of the things I asked for at first, I realized I needed a dental kit and called in for one to be brought. After around 45 minutes, someone finally knocked on our door, but with only 1/2 of the things I requested, and a few incorrect items. He brought 2 tissue boxes, 2 rolls of toilet paper, and 2 pairs of slippers. I told the man that we were still missing 2 more pairs of slippers, the dental kit, and the toiletries. Then he left to get them. After about 30 more minutes, he came back, but still, with a few missing items and incorrect ones as well. This time, he brought 4 sets of bath towels and the toiletries. By this time, it was nearly 10 PM. We were supposed to be in bed by then, since we had a very early start the next morning, so you could imagine the frustration we felt. Eventually, after complaining to front desk, I finally got the dental kit! It took 2 hours to get everything that I asked. While we used Marriott Bonvoy points for the stay, I’ve seen the rooms go for $300-$400/ night. With the state of the furniture and the ridiculously long wait times, Points or cash, I don’t think we’ll be going back again.

Meh. The lobby looks amazing but the rooms are worn down, furniture is scuffed and worn looking. Carpet has stains. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned, had to wipe the bathroom counters and tons of dirt was on them. First night they cleaned our room, 2nd night they didn’t clean, didn’t replenish towels and when we called front desk they didn’t know why it wasn’t cleaned. Also we got a room facing Hollywood Blvd on the 9th floor and was awoken around 5am in the morning by screaming homeless people. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again. Last time I was in Hollywood I stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel and it was much cleaner and nicer for the same price.

Being Marriott Bonvoy members, I was familiar with the concept of the W hotels. Kind of modern, upscale, targeted to Millennials. Add to that this hotel was in the glitz and glamour capital of the U.S. and I had mixed feelings about using Marriott points to stay here. But it was right across the street from the Pantages Theater and we had tickets to Hamilton. As it turned out, it was perfect. Reception was pleasant both arriving and departing. It being early December, the hotel was not full plus it had good masking requirements. They gave us a high floor facing the hills, avoiding the hub-bub of Hollywood Boulevard. The rooms were well cleaned and in fairly good shape. I am not a fan of bathroom barn doors with opaque panels looking into the main room but while not my style, the bathroom was large, well lit with a nice shower. The king size bed was comfortable. We had complimentary breakfast and I did notice that they appeared to be a little short of help there. It wasn't too much of a problem for us since the hotel was not full and not a lot of people came to breakfast but I can see where that might be a problem. The valet service was prompt with our car when it came time to leave. The whole two night experience was positive.

U know, there r lots of things about Hollywood is fake but the genuinity of the staff of W hotel Hollywood is anything but. I was greeted at the front desk by Ms Mikayla, and I felt so welcomed. I really appreciate the sincerity and helpfulness of her. Hotel experiences encompasses not just the hotel amenities and appearance but also the guest relation with the staff. As a solo Traveller, I appreciate someone like mikayla greeted me and treated me like a friend/family, I instantly felt at home and can trust everyone that this is gonna be a great stay. Also to mention Mr Colton, from the lobby, he was very helpful and friendly as well. Thank you so much. The hotel is conveniently located above the train station and at the start of the busy section of Hollywood blvd. So guest can start from this hotel and walk a mile west and back easily. W hotel Hollywood, thank you for your genuine treatment. I am a Marriott titanium and have travel enough to tell what felt right and wrong. This hotel is definitely checking off all the right spots. I’ll highly recommend you to stay here.
