My wife and I booked this hotel for a short L.A. get away in June and for what we wanted it was perfect. Now we'd seen this place from the outside before when we had stayed at another hotel in Venice and were exploring the board walk so we knew where it was but for those of you wondering about...

This hotel is comfortable and really well located. We were on the ocean in the heart of Venice Beach. We enjoyed it with 2 twelve year olds, and if you want to feel Callifornia 'funky' this is the place. What fun. Both Santa Monica and Muscle Beach are a short walk away. Good restaurants are close too.

We stayed one night in Mayand paid $160 for the night and were so disappointed, I have stayed in better back packers, the carpets were stained, bedding grey and were not even advised that there were coffee and tea making facilities downstairs.

Scored a room directly overlooking the boardwalk and beachfront, so it was the full Venice Beach fantasy come true! It was noisy, of course, but that didn't matter - we were right in the heart of the place and the entertainment of just hanging out the window and watching the passing parade was brilliant. Great cafes nearby - crunchy fresh...

The hotel looks nice from the lobby but the elevator is tiny and filthy, all the carpets in the hotel are stained and smell. The doors have huge gaps so you can hear everything and flies can easy find access to your room. I felt very unsafe and dirty staying here. I couldn't sleep at all. The room was tiny,...

Try to find a better price for a better location in Venice or Santa Monica. Anyone who says this place is expensive hasn't looked at the price of other beach hotels in the area (though prices in the winter are a better deal than the summer.) You walk out the door and you're on the Venice boardwalk, with nothing but...

I first stayed in 1996 for 5 days it wasn't as modern as it is now but great value for money. 2010 quite a bit more modern and a bit too expensive for what you get BUT you're right in the thick of Venice beach. Venice beach is where it's at and the Cadillac is a perfect location it's clean,...

If you are looking for a budget minded boutique hotel in the Santa Monica/Venice beach area. This is a good one. Its located right on the beachwalk. I think the rooms were just redone when we visiting in June 2011. It has an art deco feeling. The desk people are rather friendly. Aside the location, this hotel has one of...

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
