So, admittedly, the first day we got to the hotel a little late (approx. 10pm) - we were driving north from San Diego for a stint at Universal for a couple of days. This hotel looked adorable and charming on the website, and they had halfway decent reviews, and they were perfectly priced - I thought it would be a... More

Arriving late - in good faith - my daugther and I checked in at Highland Garden Hotel 7047 Franklin Avenue, Hollywood 17th of October 2016. Reception area looked OK and we were positive and optimistic. We got a studio which were beyond any description. A dirty and shabby room where no one could stay - even for a shorter time. Paint... We stayed 3 nights and it was the first hotel on our first trip to the US. The location was fantastic as we could easily walk to the main attractions. The gardens are nice. The reception staff did not seem to want to interact with guests. We are non-smokers and there always seemed to be people smoking along the main... More

When I booked the hotel, I read the reviews written by members here. What I'd retain is the issue of cleanliness, not that the rooms are not clean but they need refurbishing and you can find insects. However, the staff were quite pragmatic I have to say, with no hypocrisy, you know the style you see in other hotels "an... More

You get what you pay for - and as a traveller who just needs a clean bed, a decent shower and being in close proximity to key places - this hotel was great. Our room was clean. Air con was nice and cold (we arrived in LA to a heat wave). Breakfast was adequate - I work under the theory... More

Great location and really accessible. Only 5 min walking to Chinese theater Good wifi (fast) But Dirty!! Hair, stains, cigarett burns (in non smoking rooms) etc. Good enough when staying 1 night with low budget but I wont be back.

My husband and I were driving past this hotel and decided to stop for the night (on our recent trip across California). The hotel has a lovely pool area. The rooms overlooking the pool and the cabin rooms look very nice. Our room was room 201 and somewhat OK (perhaps we should have booked in advance) for the price. It... More

I can't remember ever staying in a more dirty run down neglected hotel in my life. The lobby looks great but both times we stayed here in July 2016 and September 2016 the hallway smelled like urine the rooms both smelled like mold and the linens and carpets were dirty.

Be prepared that it's not a Hilton , but it's not that bad as some people wrote here. At the end of the day you get what you paid for! Perfect location with free parking, swimming pool, and great staff, the only thing they need to do is to re-carpet that place There is a CVS pharmacy 3 min walk... More
