The Varden was a great place to stay while I was in LB for a convention. A beautifully restored historical hotel. My room on 2nd floor was very quiet. Loved all the historical features they kept in place, yet with modern furnishings. Sparkly clean. Nice amenities. Building entry/security was nice and secure, Great (included) wifi. Loved the 24 hour coffee/tea...

Room and the bathroom too small for me. Guess I didn't understand what a "boutique" hotel meant. No elavator, which is a problem when you are on the 3rd floor, with luggage. The staff was very helpful, but I won't be staying here again.

We stayed here for 5 nights and it is conveniently located to all the downtown action, restaurant's, Queen Mary, waterfront and the FREE bus is only 1/2 a block away. We didn't need a car. The rooms are small but super clean and we would stay here again in a flash just because the staff are amazing. Larry and all...

Arrived late 7pm. Area not very nice. Parking is 12$ in lot adjacent to this "boutique " hotel and on Main Street . A bit scary . Left NothIng in car. Orlando the front desk employee was nice and friendly, yet that does not make up for musty smell room. For is like paper and can hear each person walking...

Boutique style hotel in a perfect location super friendly and helpful staff ( thanks Larry Tracy Orlando and Norman!) all went out of their way to sure we got the most out of our visit. Funky side mural with ample parking - easy walk to transport and shopping - couldn't fault outlet stay and will definitely recommend🌟🌟🌟

I love staying here it is walking distance to all the downtown restaurants, aquarium, theaters and more. The rooms are small, but they are cozy as a boutique hotel should be. They have a wine tasting every night and the staff is very helpful and welcoming. This is the only place I stay in downtown Long Beach.

Agree with others that the staff were excellent. The size of the rooms though made a huge negative impact. The bed was up against the wall, the small wash basin which was in the bedroom had a shelf above it making teeth brushing and face washing extremely difficult. The fittings were lovely in their own right but generally impractical. If...

Very cute Hotel with a modern flair. The room was small but they use the space amazingly well to make it completely functional. Incredibly clean and fresh not only in the room but the Hotel overall. The staff was very pleasant. Super convenient parking adjacent to the Hotel. Tons of restaurants within walking distance. Overall great experience.

I discovered The Varden two years ago on a business trip & it is the only place I stay now when I come to Long Beach. It is a short walk to the convention center and the wonderful restaurants on Pine Street. Yes, the rooms are on the small side & the bathrooms are compact, but it has everything you'll...

I have to start this review by admitting my wife loved the place, and I feel a bit mean by being less than positive about the hotel. The truth is though, despite the superb hospitality and friendliness of the staff, the fact that this place advertises itself as 'a European style boutique hotel' tells you all you need to know....
