We stayed here after taking a trip through Death Valley from Las Vegas. We stayed in the motel. The room was lovely and comfortable and clean and there are lots of restaurants to choose from in Lone Pine for breakfast and dinner. The scenery is...More
Love this motel! Lots of history about the old western movies that were filmed in the region. They recently upgraded many of the rooms and the decor is very nice. I like that they include postcards and stationery in each motel room. A corner room...More
We've visited the Dow for over 30-years, but it had been a while since we'd stopped in and I'm certain the rooms in the Dow Hotel (the older original building, separate from the Dow Villa Motel), have been renovated. We stayed in Room 154 for...More
The Dow Villa is a quaint motel that felt reasonably clean and is located on the main drag, providing an easy walk to several restaurants. (This place seemed expensive after staying in the Eldorado (Reno) the night before for half the price, but it felt...More
We always stay in the "Historic Hotel" part, not the more updated Motel part. The historic rooms are comfortable and it's great to go into the lobby / main room with the grand fire place and all the mementos on the walls. There is so...More

That really depends on what you are interested in lodging wise. One area is more modernized while the other really has that cowboy charm. Both sides are well maintained. The Dow Villa Motel is three diamond AAA rated and has all of the AAA amenities. This amenities include a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, free WiFi, and personal climate control. Lodging in the Dow Historic Hotel is based on the 1930's style and amenities are more lobby based. You have access to coffee, a microwave, refrigerator, and WiFi, but they are all accessed through the lobby or from the front desk staff. The heating and cooling are central units controlled by the front desk. Their is no individualized thermostat in the room. What it really boils down to is, who is Baconbutt, and what makes a stay great for him/her?
