I have pretty much never written a poor review; I feel like everyone gets to have a bad day. But we rolled into Lone Pine last night tired and with a van that had broken down, something we shared with the desk person, and were...More
We took a stop here between Death Valley and Sequoia and intended to explore the Alabama Hills. We can totally recommend this motel even though we hadn‘t known that John Wayne once slept here. Great rooms in a very well kept and equipped historic motel....More
The room was really clean, the beds were excellent really soft and plush. It's located across from an amazing bbq place and a pizza factory which makes eating dinner easy. The only down side is the water pressure in the shower isn't the greatest. But...More

That really depends on what you are interested in lodging wise. One area is more modernized while the other really has that cowboy charm. Both sides are well maintained. The Dow Villa Motel is three diamond AAA rated and has all of the AAA amenities. This amenities include a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, free WiFi, and personal climate control. Lodging in the Dow Historic Hotel is based on the 1930's style and amenities are more lobby based. You have access to coffee, a microwave, refrigerator, and WiFi, but they are all accessed through the lobby or from the front desk staff. The heating and cooling are central units controlled by the front desk. Their is no individualized thermostat in the room. What it really boils down to is, who is Baconbutt, and what makes a stay great for him/her?
