I brought my husband here for his birthday. From the moment you step onto the grounds you are amazed. The gardens are impeccable, the views are amazing! We checked in, and the front desk service was phenomenal. They upgraded us to the Robinson Suite and we could not have been happier. The room was huge with separate sitting, dining and...

Took the family to Torrey Pines for spring break in March. We stayed a full week and our party included an 11 year old. The hotel is gorgeous - comfortable beds, clean and well kept. Staff is helpful and courteous. Pro's: Well appointed room in what I call the 'Cali-craftsmen' style, unbelievable views, easy access to hiking, golfing, easy self-parking....

I had the pleasure of traveling with my wife on a business trip and staying here. To look out the balcony and see the golf course as well as the Pacific everyday was wonderful. The staff was awesome. I would recommend this to anyone. Family friendly environment as well. The food is off the chain here. If you are planning...

This was my fourth time at the Lodge. Every time I have come it's been on business, an average of three days per trip. We utilize the meeting facilities and the food/catering for nighttime receptions. It seems that they can simplify menus or can really do extraordinary and extravagant receptions. Service is always kind and friendly and respectful, but never...

Stayed at The Lodge from March 16-20, 2015 for a work related retreat. We had meetings at the resort but also some free time for Spa or Golf. Although the golf course looked gorgeous, I'm not the best golfer so I opted for the Spa and was not disappointed at all in my experience there. Checking into the hotel was...

The hospitality at The Lodge at Torrey Pines was beyond exceptional. My fiance was assisted in booking his reservation by the General Manager Bill Gross for our engagement this month. Bill made sure during the duration of our stay that everything was picture perfect! We were placed in a suite with a walk out balcony and breath-taking view; the golf...

Local friends suggested having pre-dinner drinks on the Lodge's veranda overlooking the pool to sit, sip & see the sunset, and it was great. The architecture of the lobby alone was beautiful, but the sunset was spectacular! Service was cordial and attentive and the drinks menu was distinctive, both for classics and the Lodge's own innovations; if you prefer a...

We stayed in a golf course view room for one night in April with our 18 month old toddler. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the service could not be beat; those were the two highlights for us. The room was very clean but could use some feminine touches. I loved the fireplace in the room and the balcony overlooking...

It's everything they say - the view, the charming craftsman lodge, the landscaping, fine dining on the verandah, the hot tub overlooking the lush course in front of the Pacific in front of the setting sun and the golf but given all those advantages something is amiss in paradise. Choking heavy stank of cigarettes into the hall from next door...

We recently spent a week at the Lodge at Torrey Pines and would recommend this hotel to both couples and families. The service is excellent, and every single hotel staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. We have two children (12 and 8), and they loved the pool. Another bonus is the close...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 14 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for six years in a row, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical- and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego. ... more   less
