The best part about Caples Lake Resort is the close proximity to Kirkwood ski resort. It's a decent value for the <5-min drive, coming in with rates much lower than staying on-site at the resort. Parking is free, and the cabins (stayed in cabin 9) have all the basic amenities you would need. The resort is by no means luxurious,...

Caples lake resort is an excellent value for your money if you are looking to stay near skiing and to spend some quality time with your family or spouse/significant other. However, keep in mind that this is an authentic Tahoe lodge, don't expect any frills. Highlights: -Watching the sun rise on the mountains and over the frozen lake from my...

Stayed both at the Lodge and Cabin 7. Caples Lake is such beautiful lake with gorgeous views of the mountains and steep granite rock. We can always count on the Ospreys flying over our boat as we troll around the lake for trout. What makes this lake even more special is it's a fisherman's lake -- no tubing, water skiing,...

The best part (in winter) is the quick 4-minute drive to Kirkwood. We stayed in cabin 6 and found it adequate. I guess the cabin is supposed to have a lake view, but it was snowing hard our entire stay so not much to see outside, still it was very scenic, you'll feel that you're in complete solitude. PROS: -close...

Super scenic place away from the crowds for fishing, skiing, snoeshowing and no distractions! By myself, with friends - or the family - I'll look forward to visiting Caples Lake Resort for all that it has winter and summer.

The cabins are nice, clean and feel very cozy. They have games there to play in the cabins or you can go to the main lodge to play. There is no Tv, but it is so beautiful and plenty to do that my teenagers not only survived, but loved it there. John is very friendly and helpful, whenever I needed...

The "Resort" has exposed wiring, blocked exits, fire extinguishers out of service, dangerous exterior stairs, poor lighting and we needed pain pills after sleeping on the mattress. The resort is not customer oriented. The lake is beautiful. Save your money and pitch a tent at the nearby campground. You'll be much happier.

The resort is in major disrepair. The cabin we were in, the outside deck had no bottom railing. We had to put chairs and icechests to stop our two year old from topple over the edge. Inside the cabin, we found two set mousetrips under our BED!! We informed the staff and we received no response but a blank stare...
