The rooms were clean and tidy. Excellent showers. The staff were great. Taught us new words each day. Although breakfast wasn't included it was a reasonable price. Our room faced straight onto the pool, which was also kept clean. This was a very friendly hotel and I would stay again. Walking distance to main street.

We had stayed at the Makara six years ago and it had been good then so we decided to try them again . When I was searching for more recent reviews I saw some that weren't very positive and I was a bit concerned that we would be disappointed , but we weren't . The staff were friendly , any... More

Stayed there yesterday with my boyfriend. We arrived and the hotel looked nice overall, the pool looked ok and so was the restaurant. We went to the room which was ok but small comparing to other hotel rooms near by with the same price. After that we were hungry so we made the mistake of our lives and decided to... More

Me and my girlfriend got food poisoning from the hotel restaurant There are much better hotel's around 1) Stay away from the restaurant 2) close the beach, far from the center 3) nice swimming pool 4) expensive laundry prices 5) small rooms It was OK as long as you're not eating their food, but in the same street there are... We have booked to stay here for 5 nights and are still here. The room is very nice, clean and has everything you need. However, I have to agree with Rowanpookie, on my return to the hotel this afternoon I too was 'directed' to wash my feet before entering the hotel. Admittedly I did have a small amount of dry... The rooms at this hotel are nice, reasonable size with air con, TV, fridge etc. There is a swimming pool which is reasonable. The location is ok, maybe a kilometre walk from the main area and near to the beach although the beach is not very nice. A tuk tuk would be recommended at night and will cost 2 dollars... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights in May 2015. Things we liked: 1. Value 2. A/C worked well Things we didn't like: 1. Location. It was very far from the edible restaurants in town. We had to rent a scooter because otherwise, it was about a 25 minute walk down a street you never want to... More

We stayed at Makara Bungalows for three nights in May. Our stay started off well - the rooms were cheap and clean. The pool was nice, and it was a short walk to the beach. They offered an inexpensive scooter rental. Overall, we were happy. However, after the first night, things went downhill quickly. On our second day at the... More
