This is an old fashioned, run down motel on the edge of town. While the view over Kern river valley from the balcony is stunning, the motel and its manager need a serious makeover. It is not quaint! Pros: • reasonable daily rate • heated blankets • fantastic view of the valley Cons: • light bulb missing from lamp, manager...

I have never stayed in a more disgusting place than the McCambridge lodge. The railings that blocked the drop off down a steep cliff were broken. Broken down cars in the parking lot. Stained and broken down mattresses and box springs. Stained and burnt carpeting. Stained furniture. Spiders and webs behind bed. A spoon was dropped between stove and cabinet,...

I would have rated this a 4, but I was unable to stay in the room during the day because the AC was unable to cool the room to a reasonably comfortable temperature. Otherwise, the room was adequate and a good value. The people working there are extremely nice.

We reserved the hotel the same day I arrived at the Kern Valley for one night. The hotel is well situated, right at the skirts of a tiny town of Kernville. I got a room overlooking the lake, quite a nice view from the window. The room has two queen beds with cheap but firm and comfortable mattresses, which is...

We stayed in various standards and prices of accommodation during a 4-week tour of California. We really liked this place. Yes, outside the McCambridge is tired and in need of a lick of paint, and Yes, the staff aren't dressed up like the front desk at The Best Western, but everyone is very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable,...

If you need a place to sleep, we slept here but not a place I would recommend. The rooms are VERY outdated. The windows did not lock, the carpet was stained and the ultimate gross out...the bedspread was stained...eew. Our friends had the room next to us which was a bit nicer (no stains) but still was lacking. If you...

I love the McCambridge Lodge! I've stayed here at least 7 or 8 times. It's my favorite place to stay in Kernville. It's got a rustic cozy feel, and all the rooms I've stayed in have been very clean and comfortable. The owners are so nice, and always extremely accommodating. The icing on the cake is the amazing view of...

Nice clean little motel, Family run and very friendly we only stayed 1 night and i came here for the Kernville Brewery (which was great) but you are also very close to the 100 Sequoia worth a visit, This motel is in need for a update i agree but the views and location for a passing night makes it a...

Stayed here due to rafting trip with large group in mid July. We had called 3 or 4 months in advance so we were assured to get the rooms with bed arrangements specific to the specific groups/families. This hotel did not require the 2 night minimum some of them do for a Saturday night, so we went with it. Hey,...
