Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Safari Motor Inn is from an age when rooms were smaller. We stayed two nights, in June 2023. The room was clean. The sheets, pillowcases and towels were very clean. The bathroom and shower, likewise, were quite clean. Our stay was pleasant and more personal than at a large hotel. This Inn matches the tone and nature of the town of Joshua Tree. Our sleep was good, with the mattress medium firm: no back pain. Breakfasts and dinners were a couple of blocks walk, and were very excellent. Cactuses were many and varied in the pool patio area. Many security cameras ensure your safety. We will come back to Safari and Joshua Tree National Park.

Beds are uncomfortable and room looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in who knows how long. Furniture was old and dirty too. A/C & heater unto in window was loud. There were hairs in the bathroom and dirt in windows, window sills and corners of rooms. Shower entrance is narrow so if you’re person of size you may need to enter shower sideways. Also closing the shower curtain restricts light from bathroom so makes it kind of dark. My daughter who stayed in separate room said theirs was the same condition and commented that toilet paper is probably not even one-ply. Definitely not staying here again and would not recommend. They should spend some money in renovating the rooms even if one at a time and replace driveway, too. Has potential but, again, will stay elsewhere next visit to Joshua Tree.

I have been staying at the Safari Motor Inn for one or two nights a week when teaching a class at the local community college. My room has always been ready, perfectly clean, quiet, comfortable and allows me to quietly grade, prepare for class, and have work space that is suitable for my needs. I, when weather allows, enjoy the inner garden with the many light show arrangements that have been set up in the garden. It is also a good place in the morning to read the paper and enjoy a cup of coffee. Clean, comfortable, close to several interesting places to eat and near the national park. Seems to be a perfect place for a good night's rest.

So very close to Joshua Tree National Park. Couldn't have been better! The owner was so helpful - he provided us with scales to check our luggage, a map giving directions to the airport and a visitors' guide to JT. Room was basic but everything worked and there were coffee making facilities.

I stayed at this property for 2 nights alone while visiting Joshua Tree. First of all the location was fantastic. % minutes from the entrance to the park and on the main strip so I was able to walk to dinner. The owner Ravi is wonderful and very nice. The room was a bit dated but boy did my feet love the plush carpet after a day of hiking. It was also nice to not deal with any stairs and have my car parked in front of the room. Basic toiletries- bar soap & shampoo in the room. The room had a decent size fridge and a microwave. The shower was nothing exciting but it did the job. The courtyard was very nice but it was too cold in January to enjoy for too long. Great location and affordable. All in all I recommend this hotel.

I travel to Joshua Tree once a week and needed a clean comfortable place to stay. The Safari Motor Inn, situated right on Highway 62, was convenient. Speaking with owner Ravi, I made arrangements to stay each week and have been doing so for over a year. I get a simple clean room with all the amenities and enjoy the evening LED show that Ravi has built in the courtyard. I have also watched as he carefully works to get the entire space back to pristine condition during a time of difficulty for any business. He is thoughtful and caring for each person staying and tries to meet all our needs. I look forward to many evenings of peace, quiet, and a clean at-home sense of being in his motor inn.

Our evening here was truly memorable. The room itself is nothing special. A very odd layout, clean, comfortable, but felt outdated. However, the back courtyard was so amazing. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and evening in the park, it was nice being so close. When we came back to the motel I opened our back door and gasped. The light display was magical. So much time and care put in by the owner. We spent a lovely evening enjoying the stars and the lights.

This is an older building, but don't judge the book by the cover. The room was clean and comfortable and the AC worked great. There is a large patio/garden area behind the rooms that you are welcome to use. My wife and I got a pizza and sat outside in the evening air with a glass of wine....magical with the light display the owner has set up. The owner is a kind, sweet man. Could not recommend this place more highly. Recommend you hike the Nature Trail in Joshua Tree National Park.

I booked this place ahead of time for one night, April 24 through 25. They have 7 days cancellation policy. They canceled on me 4 days (!!) before the trip, when there were no more hotels available in the area. Apparently, because they found customers that will pay more for the room. Do not EVER book anything with this place!!

Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at Safari Motel! Must call to get a rare room with two beds. The location is excellent. Since it’s on the main road in town, we brought a small white noise machine to ensure a quiet night. The room was clean, the beds comfortable. Walkable to shops, restaurants, and the in-town Joshua Tree NP visitors center.
