The pros: The room is large. The bathroom is huge for a motel. The owner is friendly. They give a slight discount if you book by phone instead of an online booking site, probably passing on to you that they don't have to pay a commission to the booking site. They give discount coupons in varying percentages to several restaurants... More

This hotel should not be awarded a trip advisor seal of approval. Owner(?) person in office was very rude and dismissive. Room decor/ furniture is outdated and damaged. Fairly clean but stains on floor/carpet. Bad odor. The price is reasonable but I will NOT stay here again. I have traveled a lot and stayed in many small motels. This is... More

Rooms were a good size, clean, and tasteful. The cleaning staff was very nice and helpful. The price was very economical. For my money, the best part of the hotel is the "outside". There is a view from the balcony where you see accross the highway to a plain of joshua trees spreading to the mountains and the area around... More

This was our second visit in as many years. Rooms are inexpensive and nicely appointed and include a microwave and a fridge larger than typical motel. Manager is very accommodating. We'll stay again next trip.

The motel is like the standard you can find everywhere. The room was clean and provided all needs. The reception is an other story. It is small and rather looks like a counter of a pharmacy or a bank. receptionist is behind a glass window with a hole you can talk through. Keys are handed out through a slip in... More

I fell in love with the National Park at first sight and try my best to visit at least twice a month. Staying at various accommodations I always seem to come back to the High Desert Motel, a block west of Park Ave (the road into the park) centrally located to eateries, Walmart etc and the price of a room... Simple accommodations: clean room, mini fridge, microwave. Just wish it didn't sit right on highway. Only affects those of us that are light sleepers. Air conditioners work well - just noisy. Best value around: below $60 a night for 2 adults.

Clean, friendly, helpful and very convenient while visiting Joshua Tree National Park. Very close to the park and walking distance to restaurants and other facilities. The hotel just sent me things I had forgotten in my room at the hotel by mail in Canada. What a service! It is what you call caring about clients! Thank you many times. It... More

The high desert motel was an oasis for us .....clean room, helpful staff - thanks VJ for responding quickly to our requests. The location was handy to the grocery store and the Indian Restaurant we enjoyed so much called Sams. Would stay again for sure.

WiFi, cleanliness, staff friendliness and location to Joshua Tree National Park all get top marks from me. The pool looked nice, too, though I didn't use it. It's close to some decent food places, as well as to nearby supermarkets and the Big Morongo Nature Reserve. A great budget option, and a great non-budget option.
