Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a magic spot! Surrounded by a long White Sandy dog friendly beach, great pool you can use as a day guest. Stunning sunset over the water, delicious Dining under the palm trees. And so dog welcoming. And did I mention one of the best mango daiquiris in Aus??

Best laid back, casual retreat ever! You can wear your togs and take your dog. Menu is varied and choices include bar favourites and more upmarket fare. Outdoor area has beach volleyball, firepit area and direct access to the beach.

Great stop on a road trip from Airlie, good drinks with a stunning view. Good range of snack bites to eat, lovely vibe suitable for groups and families. Don't be put off by the patches of dirt road they don't last for long and are worth the drive! Onsite accommodation available

We had lunch at the Oar Bar and Restaurant at the Resort. It is Beach front, fabulous views, food was fab and the atmosphere very casual friendly, laid back. Loved it! Food servings were generous. I had Grilled Fish with Veggies GF and hubby had the Fish Burger and chips. It is kid friendly and you can swim in the beach or the pool. Would highly recommend a visit. NOTE: there is a couple of dirt road sections to get there, nothing too rough, well worth it.

Whilst holidaying in Airlie Beach three of us took the opportunity to have lunch at the resort and we are so glad we did. We shared barramundi spring rolls and salt and pepper calamari. The food was amazing, super fresh and presented nicely. All the staff were very friendly. You also get the opportunity to use the pool in the resort. We have no hesitation in recommending Cape Gloucester Resort restaurant. Well done, keep up the great work.

Location is superb, have been a few times before, be aware you get charged 10% surcharge on Sundays? Plus ur eftpos fees, would t mind if the service was good, maybe table service if you’re going to charge this? Bar staff were rude and ignorant on Sunday (5th March) Cleary miserable and didn’t want to be there, particularly the young girls behind the bar that day, I feel you might lose Locals if this carry’s on, will reconsider before bringing family and friends from outer town/overseas, much better options around.

I've always loved the fact that the resort allowed dogs at the eating areas outside but after a recent visit I was surprised that a number of dogs weren't on leads or even supervised. The dogs seemed to be owned by staff members who were busy working and were just left to roam. At one point we had two dogs at our table while we were eating, with children present. This could of ended badly as it is common knowledge dogs can get aggressive around food. We complained to staff who just yelled at them, removing them temporarily. 5 minutes later another one was over begging for food. There were a couple of other patrons there also who had dogs with them on leads who were also having difficultlies with these dogs harassing their dogs but very little was done to fix the issue. If this is allowed to continue it seems that it will be only a matter of time before the restaurant owners have a lawsuit on their hands due to a dog accidentally biting someone. As a long time local and supporter of this business for many years I hope the new owners will address the issue. Unfortunately I won't be returning as find it highly unprofessional.

Lost one star for the way we were spoken to when wanting to split payment. We are not idiots. Don’t speak to us like so. Explain your system doesn’t allow why we wanted to do nicely. Takes the same amount of time as saying it rudely. Lost another star when we were accused of ordering a drink that we didn’t order as we ordered two different ones. Appeared the waitress had made an error. Maybe you should look into the problem before accusing a customer. You kept your 3 stars as the food was amazing. The view was what we needed and the cocktails were lovely.

Room Tip: Enjoy the food. It’s amazing. Turn a blind eye to the rude staff as a majority are great.

Relaxing lunch by the water. Fabulous food, friendly staff and great location. We went in early January so it was nice and hot. We had the salt and pepper calamari and oysters - sooo good! Cocktails are yummy too with a great selection. I recommend the dragonfruit mojito!
