Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called in to this old place for a bite to eat and a drink on a Sunday drive out. Noticed local people eating in a dining area behind the front bar. Checked out the menu which looked quite varied . I just had a fish burger that was made with RedSpot Emperor. It was excellent. Came with beer batter fries and a mixed salad tomato and fresh avocado. Great traditional pub food and Craft beers on tap as well as the usual variety of nice cold beers. This is another hidden gem of a place and an easy drive from nearby Toodyay.

Wow. We planned ahead for a choice of three cooked meals for 20 adults and seven kids, and what a great event, food was all perfect, served up on time with everyone enjoying it. Service was great and friendly and the beer was cold. A really great country pub atmosphere Highly recommend.

Craig, Wendy and their team are a winning combination. Rooms are comfortable and clean, new aircons and comfortable beds...although they do have Male and female bathrooms being a heritage hotel they are newly renovated and are large with separate cubicles. Very quite upstairs and couldn't hear any noise from the bar below. Food...well yummy. A well chosen menu with lots to chose from. Big beautiful meals and value for money.
Overall our stay was great. We were looked after, comfortable and well fed.
Would definitely recommend a stay at the Bolgart.

Went for Mother’s Day lunch, only to find a set menu that was heavily seafood oriented. I ,along with most of the group, got the surf and turf at $65. I was in total shock at what was presented, the steak that was meant to be a sirloin looked questionable it was topped with the smallest half a cray tail I have ever seen. It was served with a small spoonful of coleslaw and a 1/4 of a boiled potato, some of us got sour cream on the potato some didn’t. I’ve been to the Bolgart pub many times, each time it was a little lacking, but today’s effort was nothing more that a Mother’s Day menu shake down. The chef of the day was a rank amateur at best, I will never darken the doors of this establishment again. The owners should be ashamed of themselves, I left there in total disgust and over $300 out of pocket for what was essentially a rip off.

Due to renovation there is no accomadatiom but we booked in for lunch expecting normal pub food
No this was exceptional the pork sirloin and prawns were probably the best I have tasted. Other dishes were the three starters and they were all fantastic. Great selection of wine and craft beer from the Swan Valley. Once renovations are complete around Xmas look forward to returning and staying the night.

Our large club had booked ahead for this group meal. The decor was newly renovated & modernised. The meals consisted of roast/veges & sweets. The sizes were very large & extremely tasty. Staff were friendly & attentive which reflects well on this community owned pub.

We've lunched here twice recently. The quality of the meals the same on both occasions. Fresh honest food cooked to perfection. Portion size...well generous! Presentation too, was really nice - not always something you expect from 'pub' type food, this was anything BUT pub grub :)

You know your onto a good thing...aka the chef...when the octopus / calamarri is both sweet and very tender, with a delicate flavour.

My husband usually leaves the salad because, well they can be pretty boring...and usually coated in premix, off the shelf sweet dressing...but wonders never cease, he ate and enjoyed his fresh salad !!!
My pork belly, juicy, tender and generous. I've tried both the garlic and mushroom sauce which were very nice, clean taste, full flavour but not overpowering.
Veggies spot on, not over cooked. Mash smooth and creamy.

Prawn and avacado cocktail and marinated buffalo wings, also recommend - The prawns were large, fresh, flavoursome, generous. Dressings I think were made fresh...certainly didn't taste like they came out of a bottle. Delicious

Highly recommend

Congrats to the owners and the chef...kitchen and front of house staff. A credit to small community and hopefully your business will continue to thrive

We're booking in for Xmas lunch :)

Old fashioned pub, a bit run down, with shared bathrooms and toilets. Clean and comfortable.

Great food and fabulous hosts.

It may not be five star accommodation, but it's good to see how things used to be.

Hi Ralph. I can only vouch for the food as we have not actually stayed there. We have eaten at the Bolgart and the food is good pub food, nicely presented etc. I know they do have rooms which are nice and clean from what I hear and are reasonably priced. You would be better off ringing the hotel direct for availability of evening meals. Toodyay is the nearest alternative for food in the evening and is a pleasant half hour drive. If you are staying in Bolgart the Trees Cafe may do evening meals, but again you would have to ring them and check. The service is good at both places.
