I am so grateful I could spend my Christmas holiday week at the Yoga Farm ashram. This is THE place to connect with the true spirit of yoga- not just the fitness aspect that most Americans mistake for yoga. (The 'fitness' aspect is addressed here as well- the asana classes ae very good) The early morning meditation and the chanting...

This is a review for the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm. This is not your typical resort or retreat. This is an ashram, where people live in a spiritual community. The schedule appears undoable at first, but you easily adapt to it. You get up at 5:30 a.m. to a beautiful chant voiced by a staff member running around the ashram...

A few weeks ago, my friend and I attended a “ayurvedic massage retreat” at the yoga farm. We had called about four times ahead of time to see if the extra 70 dollars for the retreat was worth it, and what the retreat would entail, and not one person we talked to could answer us. We decided to pay the...

Interested in classical yoga and TRULY experiencing what it feels like to unplug for a month? This is your place. This is not for the faint of heart though. This particular program is very traditional and follows a daily set schedule that begins with satsang at 6am in uniform (white pants, gold t-shirt, both provided) and ends around 10pm at...

In the midst of a fast-moving world it is so wonderful to come across an island of courtesy and gentleness. Ancient Indian traditions of the philosophic understanding of life are continued here, with the gentleness and warmth which go with them. The natural beauty of this location is amazing. Wild life, including timid deer, come within surprisingly close distance of...

I returned to the yoga farm after 3 years and it was better then before. The vegetarian meals have expanded to include some Mexican items as well as Asian cuisine. The weather was warm so I spent most afternoons reading and swimming in the pond. The llamas and goats kept me company. I shared a dorm cabin with some lovely...

I arrived with previous experience in other similar spiritual communities (one Hindu, one Buddhist) and have a casual eclectic Buddhist-y practice. I attended a 5-day beginner's class and a 2-day stress and relaxation workshop. This is NOT a vacation. This is hard WORK and so worth it. You are expected to follow their schedule. Wake up at 5:30am for 6:00am...

Well, we are still here, but we've been here a number of days now, so I feel qualified to leave a review. So I'll leave a pros and cons style review: Cons: some of the staff have been downright rude. When I say some, I mean only a few, but the things they've done have made me and several others...

We attended the yoga farm on a Groupon weekend for stress relief. The facility is lovely, tranquil and very clean. The staff is friendly, accessible and helpful. Sine it was a Groupon deal, we were in a cabin for 4, which is a bit risky since it's tight quarters. Toilets and shower are a walk away. If you choose to...
