We love historic places, but the Holbrooke Hotel was very disappointing. The building is in dire need of rennovation. At the very least, it deserves a thorough cleaning. better upkeep and more friendly, accommodating employees. Carpeting was wet in corner of the room, moldy smell and one small bath towel for 2 guests. Room was very warm and not too...

Let me start out by saying that I love the Holbrooke! I am a local who recently stayed the night at the hotel for the first time. I have had nothing but positive experiences at the restaurant and bar. The building is historic and the decor reflects that. If you're looking for modern, mark this one off the list. The...

A nice, modest hotel with the true feel of the gold rush era. Our room was just $109. Lobby area is a bit tired, could use serious cleaning. Our room was small but adequate, comfortable, clean, decorated true to the era. Our view was of a wall across the alley, but the room was quiet. Staff very friendly. Excellent wifi....

so, I was nervous when the front desk told me that the owner was holding his open mic night this evening and things sometimes got a little raucous, but it wasn't an issue. Rooms are not above the bar, and this in not Gordon Ramsey's Hotel Nightmares. A comfortable room with reasonable wi-fi [you have to search out the best...

This hotel was a nice break from the usual big-name chains. It was very old, but filled with historic charm. The room had a bear-claw tub, old style furniture, historic pictures on the walls, and a comfortable bed. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially the lady bartender. There is someone at the front desk 24-hours a day in...

The rooms are furnished and decorated like the latter 1800's when this place was built. The bar is funky and full of life. The old dining room where they now hold special functions is a beautiful example of Gold Rush buildings. The food is good and so is the service. Outdoor dining when available is terrific

I was there last night. The Suite above the Saloon is fantastic, Sizeable & spotless, with all you'd expect of a Hotel with this much recorded history! Outside the Suite a large semi-private balcony looks over the Main Street where you could just picture the likes of Mark Twain or the President sitting next to you enjoying whatever Parade or...

We planned this trip to stay at a nostalgic hotel. It was horrible? Dripping toilet and shower. Lumpy duvet. Bad pillows. Barely passable bed. But the worst is the NOISE! There seems to be no escaping the horrific live music downstairs. And in the street. If you are coming to relax, don't bother.

I have stayed here several times in 2014. It's one of those places where nothing is exceptional but the sum of the parts make it exceptional. The combination of the old fashioned hotel and rooms, the great "magical" bar with live entertainment almost every night, the tradional but solid restaurant, and the overall friendliness and knowledge of the staff makes...

We stayed here January 3rd for one night. I made a reservation 4 days prior. When we checked in we were told we got the last room and it was located above the kitchen and that the kitchen fan would not be turned off until 11:00 PM. Need I say more? It was just what you would expect given the...
