Ferndale is a beautiful town full of historic homes and the Victorian Inn is one of these. Our room had charming period details but also all modern conveniences. It was spotless and fresh smelling - not so easy to achieve in an older building. We had a very good dinner at the restaurant and the prices were good. Breakfast the...

3 of us stayed at the Victorian Inn on our motorcycle journey from Red Bluff on beautiful but challenging route 36. We got a friendly greeting and had a very good meal at the restaurant. Our room with its 13 ft plus ceilings was wonderfully appointed and was a great change from the modern hotels we stay at. The town...

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Victorian Inn as a base to explore Northern California, and in particular the Redwood Forests of the area. Our stay was fine, but I would have to say that I would not go back or particularly recommend the inn to friends. The website makes it look and sound much more elegant and...

My fiance and I stayed at this beautiful historic inn on our trip through northern California. We chose this place because it is centrally located near all of the best Redwood National & State Parks. Everyone at the hotel were super friendly and accomodating! The food was spectacular! The breakfast you get fills you up for the entire day, which...

It's cute, an old, old inn. The food is good. Be aware that if you have knee problems, which I do, that the rooms are on the top of the steep steps. Overall, it was wonderful. We went with friends, and we all had our rooms, and we could meet in a room for gathering that had coffee, computer...games...all upstairs...

We come here at least every few years in August to enjoy the last day of horse racing at the Humboldt County Fair (a treasure in itself, particularly the 1 5/8 mile Humboldt Marathon). Lowell and Jenny are born innkeepers; Jenny is so warm and welcoming you feel like family, and Lowell tells hilarious stories. They have flawlessly restored this...

My husband and I booked the Barnaby Room for a weekend stay. We were participating in a Civil War event at Fern Cottage just outside town. A large group or reenactors booked rooms here and we spent the entire weekend in period dress. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They provided a meeting room...

We took a trip to northern California in July to celebrate our anniversary and found the Victorian Inn in Ferndale, CA --a hotel that's been turned into a B&B with a resturant and bar. More like a hotel, rather than the traditional B&B of a converted large home, it had huge rooms with high ceilings and was right down the...

I debated on whether to grade the Victorian Inn average or poor and finally decided that a poor rating would be a more realistic grade. Their website claims that the Victorian Inn is elegant with modern updates, which is not the case. Rooms are located on the second floor and their is no elevator which mandates that you have to...

By golly, this review really caught us off guard. As you can see, we are quite used to very positive comments. These folks seem to be viewing and comparing us as from an urban point of view and in the same light as newly built and much larger hotels. We are a very small "Inn" built in 1890, in a...
