To be honest I had an issue with my reservation at this hotel. It happens. But I have to say that Nathan at the front desk fixed the issue and did what needed to be done. I was frustrated and he was kind, calm and ready to resolve it. I would definitely stay here again. Also, this hotel is clean and beautifully appointed. This is absolutely the best place in town and my room was so luxurious and soundproof, I slept like a baby and after a long hot bath was back on the road feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!
This hotel was one of the worst I have ever stayed in. Upon arriving the front door was locked because the area is obviously not the best, the front desk person unlocked the door quickly but did not have a mask on, the lobby and outdoor area seemed dirty and not well taken care of. The front desk was nice and checked us in quickly, so we were giving the benefit of the doubt.. we get to our room the door doesn't work, lamps are unplugged, staff then entered out room without masks. We then precede to sanitize the room with our own cleaner (we do this anywhere) but while doing this we noticed the room was filthy and looked like it hadn't had a deep clean in a long time. We were on a road trip and had spent several nights in other hotels and they were all super clean especially during a pandemic. We booked 2 nights and left first thing int he morning and canceled our reservation, we felt so unsafe and dirty there. AVOID this place if you are being cautious with covid and like clean rooms. We stayed at the Red Lion hotel for our 2nd night and was very pleased!…
I spent seven nights here during the last week of August 2020. I relied on information from Booking.com, AAA and the hotel website itself to make my plans. While the hotel maids and maintenance staff that I met were friendly and helpful, the staff at the reception desk both upon my arrival and departure were strangely surly, unsmiling and unwelcoming. Both checking in and checking out were very sour and disturbing experiences. I expect hotel staff who are paid to be friendly to do their best to put on a friendly face and make you feel welcome. When they behave that way, it makes you wonder what they know about the hotel that you don't. It was kind of spooky. First to understand is that this hotel is in a bad neighborhood (see pictures). If being around the homeless makes you squeamish, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand, Eureka itself has a huge problem with homelessness and with people wandering through town on every block with all sorts of sad pathologies. I saw one desperate-looking man prowling around the hotel premises looking for anything he could get his hands on. There is a Target store conveniently just a block away. There is also a marsh trail that is only a few blocks away. The path is paved and has nature trail markers distributed throughout. I found lots of peaceful homeless people all along the trail. One bedraggled man was playing a guitar on a bench. The room was better than the location and exterior of the hotel might have predicted. It checked off all the AAA boxes with things like fridge, microwave, iron, coffee pot, etc. The sink faucet was loose and needed to be repaired, which a nice maintenance woman accomplished. The room had a good cooling system. My king size bed was comfortable, with a good mattress and pillows of different thicknesses. The sheets were luxuriously soft. Regarding cleanliness, there was a lot of hair left in the bathroom that I had to collect and discard, but the rest of the room was in good shape. While I wouldn't choose to stay here again, it wasn't hell either.…
I wanted to share my experience as it’s the first time I stayed at a Clarion Hotel. We arrived late at night after an exhausting 11 hour drive from south of LA. I happened to book the room on the wrong night and the hotel was sold out. I also had an 8 month old puppy with us, so finding a pet friendly hotel at the hour wasn’t easy. Michael was working at the front desk and was so kind to juggle things around and get us a room for the night. I can’t thank him enough. We had a great night and a wonderful experience. The hotel is exceptionally clean which is so important with Covid. They take all necessary precautions. We had a lovely room that was super quiet and the comfiest bed. I highly recommend it.
