We will not stay here again. Although we turned the thermostat completely off, the room was stifling hot (yes, in February...in Eureka!?!) And since our room was on the 1st floor at street level we were not comfortable at all opening the window since the property is surrounded by a significant transient problem, so much that they keep the outer doors to the hotel locked and have a security guard patrol at night. Cleanliness? Not! The ceiling fan had layers of grime on the fan blades that had to be months of build up - totally disgusting. When we went out for the day I asked to have the room cleaned. We got back and they had made the bed and that was it...no clean sheets, no fresh towels - these are basic services that are reasonable to expect be included when paying about $200/night! Also, the complimentary continental breakfast that was supposed to be delivered by 9:00...never got it. It’s too bad, this place has the potential to be a really cute place to stay in Eureka but for all these reasons, it was very disappointing and we’ll find a different place next time. …
We stayed here one night - our 30th anniversary - during a three-week driving trip down the Pacific Coast Highway, We stayed in the cottage, which is across the street from the main lodge. It's basically a one-bedroom "home," complete with kitchen, dining area, living room, bath and a half, and a large deck off the back. During COVID, we appreciated being able to be away from other guests. We also appreciated the gift of wine to help us celebrate. Light breakfast was included. Sorry that the restaurant is now closed; we had hoped to dine there.
First the main picture they have is not the actual Inn? Very confusing? The parking and entrance is very unclear with no markings. When checking in the lady behind the desk informs us we weren’t placed in a dog friendly room, even though we asked for it. Then let us know we wouldn’t be charged for it? How odd with it being their mistake. Then when entering the room it was so hot, also did not look like any of the rooms pictured. When going downstairs to ask very nicely I might add, because we just thought we weren’t working the thermostat right. She rudely finishes chewing a mouth full of food, to informs us they have no air in the building. But provide a fan which was so tiny to put in your window, and leave your window open all night. They did not mention a word of this on their website or checking in or when I called to book a room. And mind you we paid 230$ a night to stay here. She tells us very condescendingly if we can’t figure it out, she can show us how to to put a fan in front of a window. The room was just so bad as you can tell from the pictures below. And we did not sleep well because of the noise, and light coming in from the open window. …
What a fun and quirky hotel. Virgil checked us in and he was so fun, I just loved his dry sense of humor. The hotel was fun and quirky and different. Our room was big and spacious and bed was comfortable. The a/c didn’t work well so that was an issue due to us hiking all day and needing it cool in the room so we could rest. Michael the other concierge was super helpful to suggest places to eat, make reservations for us and just a wonderful source of help and information. Very good service here, we enjoyed our stay.
What a charming small hotel or guest house this place is. Check in was very nice & personal with Michael who explained in detail everything you would need to know about your stay. The entire place is very comfortable & decorated in old world charm. My king size bedroom was very large & the bathroom was huge with a wonderful soaking tub. A small breakfast is delivered to your room in the morning, you let Michael know what time. A very nice tray is left outside your door with juice, muffin & yogurt with mixed berries, a nice way to start the day. Parking is right around the back of the hotel. Just a charming well run place, what more can you ask for ?
