After looking at prices for other lodging options inside and/or very near Yosemite National Park, this seemed to be by far the least expensive option. It is still not cheap, but for the location, it is the best you will likely do. It is really not that far from the Valley entrance to the park, and the drive is pretty...

Clean, comfortable, and close to Yosemite National Park, but be prepared... the hotel (much like the park itself) is in the middle of nowhere, which means its facilities are almost the only game in town. Their high prices and unimpressive meals reflect the relative lack of competition. For a nice change of pace food-wise, try the al fresco pizza place...

This is our 2nd time to stay at Cedar Lodge. Nothing fancy really but given how close it is to the Yosemite's west entrance it's probably one of the better options particularly if you're a big group. Rooms all include a small kitchenette while is always nice and the YARTS bus stops right in front of the lodge. They have...

I stayed here for four nights. The rooms were clean, well taken care of, staff was friendly and helpful. I only have two complaints, no "do not disturb" sign in my room and when I asked for one I never got it, but they did tell the person not to clean my room until I was done in the afternoon,...

There are two hotels just outside the park, and this is the less expensive one, so I took it. The room was average, the water was hot, parking was right outside my door, so that's good. No wi-fi in the room, even for a fee, so that's not great, especially when you want to look things up, get maps online,...

The motel is about 15 minutes drive to Yosemite NP, but the drive is through beautiful countryside. The views from the rooms, of the river and hills, are wonderful. The hotel also has a garden area across the road that gives direct access to the river. There are also a number of barbecues here and elsewhere in the grounds for...

Not really worth the money we spent, $144 a night. Clean room, nice housekeeping staff. Too far a drive to Yosemite. Horrible on site restaurant! Do not eat there. Save $100 and go to the market to get food to BBQ. Nice BBQ area across the street from hotel right next to river. Make your own food.

$180 Deluxe room reflected gorgeous river canyon location and proximity to Yosemite. Otherwise, this is an ordinary hotel that showed its age. No bedbugs (we checked) but lots of ants in the bathroom. We usually stay at much nicer places but this was a last minute trip. We like the other lodge up the road better and would not stay...

Pros: Clean room, hot water and AC/Heater are all most Yosemite visitors might need. TV shows some local channels+ HBO. Indoor swimming pool is a nice surprise. Cons: I'm not sure whether they can use the name El Portal. It's 5 miles south of a tiny place named El Portal with population of 500. At least they should be honest...

Depending on what side you enter Yosemite National Park depends on if you can say the Cedar Lodge's location is good. If you're coming from southern CA, then no, but if you're in "the valley" the Cedar Lodge is in a great spot, only miles from the entrance to Yosemite. The rooms were very nice, clean, and even smelled new...
