We love Lassen National Park - great hiking, wonderful views, waterfalls, thermal features (geysers, etc.), and it's never crowded. However, lodging is almost non-existent, which makes Drakesbad a really special place in the park. We spent 4 days there recently and really enjoyed it, but...More

My husband and I were here in September and we loved our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent - best I've ever had in a national park. Drakesbad is the only lodging except for campsites within the park, but it is...More

This place offers comfortable albeit rudimentary accommodations. The meals are excellent, and the staff is friendly and always helpful with assistance and advice. Drakesbad is not that close to the well known parts of Lassen (Bumpass Hell, Lassen Peak, Cinder Cone, etc) but well within...More

Does anyone know how far drakesbad is from manzanita lake campground in Lassen? What I'm seeing online today shows 2.5 hours, I'm hoping this is showing some re routes due to snow? When we looked at this drive time once before I don't remember it being that long!
