I am an elderly woman who travels extensively, frequently alone.I arrived Sunday afternoon for a two day stay. L'Auberge proved to be a delightful little gem. From the old world charm of the property to the wonderfully warm and helpful staff. In fact, my stay was so enjoyable I elected to stay an additional two days. I would like to...

From the moment we arrived to when we departed a day later, we were treated like royalty. This hotel and it's staff goes above and beyond your expectations to ensure you have an exceptional stay. It's the only way to describe the experience. Nice small touches- like a handwritten card to wish me a happy birthday, fresh baked cookies and...

Overall a very poor experience with multiple service failures from the arrival experience and throughout the stay - from arrival and check-in, to having us in the wrong room, to leaving my car unlocked by the valet, to not having a thick duvet available during the day while ours was washed to no one to help with bags at check-in...

Love this quaint hotel. It is incredibly charming and staff treats you like royalty. It is right downtown Carmel near all the art galleries, shopping, Restaraunt, and wine tasting rooms. The beach is just a block or two down the road and it is a dog friendly beach. The hotel is dog friendly and this is the first time we...

While out in California, we wanted a quick stay in Carmel, as it's been a few years. There are plenty of places to stay & after looking online, decided to go with the Relais & Chateaux name, L'auberge Carmel. It's near the water at 7th & Monteverde, great location! We walked all over (up!) & when we went out in...

In my first review in 2012, I said that I would go back there anytime. Well my husband and I went back in July 2016. We stayed longer and loved the place as much as we did the first time. Will keep you posted on our next visit a L'Auberge Carmel.

Charming. Every staff member we came across during our stay was helpful and polite. Our room was very clean (and I am very particular) and we had a hand written note on our bed from the manager, thanking us for choosing L'Auberge. We went out to dinner and returned with fresh oatmeal cookies in our room. (I am a baker...

Stayed at the L'Auberge for two nights and was very happy with the hotel, the facilities and the service of the staff. The hotel is nicely located - not difficult though in a small village - and the entire hotel is run by a nice group of associates who are welcoming and full of friendliness. Food served at the hotel...

A very nice hotel and friendly personnel that make the stay at L'Auberge Carmel worthwhile. Location is very good, right next to the shops of Ocean Avenue and a few blocks from the ocean. The room we stayed in was facing the street and with the prices the hotel charges, one would hope that they would have enough funds to...

Really liked this hotel. I like small cozy places. The staff is wonderful and helpful making sure that your stay in Carmel and their hotel is enjoyable. Because of the topography of Carmel, a pretty hilly little town, this hotel is built against a hill. It was built in the 1920's I believe. There are no elevators and plenty of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1929, the European-style luxury hotel is located just four blocks from famous Carmel Beach and an easy stroll to the village's numerous art galleries, shops and restaurants. Major renovations have transformed the hotel's 20 guest rooms, entrance and landscaped courtyard into a romantic Carmel setting. Luxuriously romantic, the Carmel hotel was created for adults to relax, rejuvenate and nurture relationships—the perfect Carmel escape getaway. The interior decor of guest rooms is rich and pleasing, warm jewel tones accent the quaint charm of the architecture. Individually designed guest rooms feature the finest fabrics and linens, enlarged bath areas with radiant floor heating, some with soaking tubs. It is one of Carmel’s few full service luxury hotels offering valet parking, room service and highly personalized guest services. The highlight of L'Auberge Carmel is its intimate 12-table restaurant, Aubergine, featuring a 4500-bottle wine cellar. It is the passion of Executive Chef Justin Cogley.
