Detailed Reviews
Beautifully renovated ski chalet. I had stayed before the renovations but now this place is next level. I would not stay anywhere else. It is perfect for a large group wanting a private chalet, the open plan living and kitchen area made sure we could easily socialise and be apart of it all. The free parking was great we had 3 cars which enabled us to discover all of the surrounding ski areas and places of interest. There is a bus stop 100 or so meters from the chalet which gives you access to Hirafu ,Annapurri and the onsens. We discovered a few restaurants in the area which had fab food. Beautiful area away from the crazy crowds of a Hirafu but yet close enough if you want to go and get amongst it all. 5 out of 5 we will be back

Simply put this is the best shared accommodation/lodge I have stayed at. The staff and other guests were amazing and our time there really made our trip special. It felt like I was staying at a friend's place. You don't feel like just another guest, the staff really go above and beyond what you would expect from them.
The only down side was the weak WiFi signal in some areas of the lodge, it made calling home in my room difficult. But that is the only negative I have of the place, and it was only minor inconvenience.

This proved to be a great place to stay for skiing at Niseko. It's hostel style so you need to be okay with interacting with other skiers and travelers in the common areas. I met some great people along the way so that was a plus. The folks running the day to day were excellent. Picked us up at the Hilton from our bus ride upon arrival. Drove us to the mountain each morning. Cooked breakfast in the morning very promptly. Only potential draw back is the rooms are close to the common area so folks up late may be noisy. I popped in earplugs each night and was sound asleep. Place was clean and cozy.

This is a great hostel to stay at when riding Niskeo. The staff and other lodgers were super friendly. They provided breakfast and rides to the mountain in the morning. The beds were clean and comfortable. The living area can be lively at times, so best to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Hostel hospitality at its finest. Friendly and accommodating staff. The hooting owl is the best bet for you and your time at niseko. Friendly atmosphere of skiers and riders all on a mission for Hokkaido powder. Rides to the hill, day trips, and apres activities all happily taken care of by staff. Their unique knowledge of the area, steered by the interests of these rad individuals, makes this the only place to stay in niseko!

My partner and I booked in to hooting owl lodge for a total of 17 nights... a bit of a scary thing as you never know what accommodation will be like in Japan as hostels are quite varied. BUT, very awesome place! We were mainly focused on the snowboarding aspects of Japan but hooting owl lodge also provided a warm social atmosphere with plenty of good times IF we felt like joining in. Few silly late nights, plenty of quiet beers, relaxed evenings, very comfortable... fell asleep in the living room many times! The location of hooting owl was perfect for us as we really were focused on the riding. 5-10 minutes walk to closest lift but the nice staff at hooting owl would drop us at the main Hilton gondola of Niseko village in the mornings. This lift is also between the two other fields so could access any side of the mountain from here. A bit further away from the nightlife of Hirafu and buses weren't too regular so if you only there for the nightlife it may not be as suitable but a couple of night missions were OK and there are places in Niseko village to have a drink/ karaoke/ play pool (and fun at the lodge too-wii and games etc). Has a kitchen which was awesome, eating in Japan is expensive! Full cooked breakfast as well as a continental breakfast, again awesome! Full for the day. Miranda the owner/ manager was very relaxed, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Facilities were clean, rooms warm (underfloor heating), good snowboard gear storage, onsen close- by.

I have stayed at the Hooting Owl Lodge twice and both times have been epic! The snowfall in Niseko is the best I have ever seen (4 metres in 4 days last Jan) and the staff that work in the lodge are great. The lodge itself is very comfortable and has a great vibe where you instantly feel at home. I especially like the big, comfy lounge area where you can catch up with everyone after a day of riding and share stories. Breakfast is included and is the BEST!! There are also facilities to cook your own lunch or dinner if required. Miranda or her staff will drop you off each morning at the lifts (although it is only a 5-10 minute walk) and also take you into Hirafu when you first arrive to sort out your gear. From the closest chairlift at Niseko Village you can access Annupuri, Hirafu and Hanazono. There are also onsens close by to relax your sore muscles after a day of riding. If you want to hit the town, there are regular buses out the front of the lodge that will take you into Hirafu. There is also all you can drink at the Hilton Hotel (just down the road from the lodge) for 1500 yen which would normally lead to a night of karaoke! Overall the lodge is very clean and comfy with a friendly atmosphere. It is great value for money and Miranda and her staff are fantastic. I can highly recommend the Hooting Owl Lodge!

A buddy and I went skiing at Niseko for a week and loved this place. The owner, Miranda, is energetic, fun, and a good cook. We enjoyed hanging out with her and a group of Swiss guys that came in. Breakfast was included and there was a guest kitchen if you want to cook lunch or dinner for yourself. The place was very clean and the community area was great for meeting other people, watching a movie, and hanging out after a long day of skiing or snowboarding. The snow was great three of the six days we were on the mountain. When I go back to Niseko I will be staying with Miranda at the Hooting Owl.

The Hooting Owl Lodge was just the right fit for me. Don't confuse this lodge with a youth hostel. Even though I am in my 40's, I blended in fine with this younger but still mature crowd. The price was right for what you get, the beds are comfortable, the service was spot on and the staff were enthusiastic and eager to help at every turn. They answer each question as though it was the first time they had been asked it. The lodge is kept very clean and everything is in fine working order. Hot showers, proper kitchen, plenty of storage space, morning breakfast and free high speed Wifi rounded the place out nicely. Lastly, the lodge has a great vibe with predominantly quality guests staying there. I'll be back.

We had a great stay at the Hooting Owl Lodge for our Niseko ski trip in February. Katie & Jordan were absolutely wonderful; providing us with warm breakfasts, transpo to/from the Hilton Niseko, and information on any and everything we needed during our stay! The lodge itself was perfect; convenient location to bus stops (and also a ski-out/short walk from Niseko Village slopes), clean bathrooms and rooms, a nice common area and kitchen, ski gear storage, reliable WiFi, and most importantly (especially after freezing our tails off on the slopes) HOT water! Would love to stay here again next time we are back in Niseko.

Hi Ash
yes this is possible, you would have to book early to secure this as we already have bookings for next year. to secure this type of booking we would require 15% non refundable deposit and then require another 55% 50 days prior to arrival as this is peak time. If you can please email me . it works out approx 7500 Yen per person per night with breakfast we would charging you for the whole lodge it sleeps 19 people. Cheers Miranda
HI there unfortunately we are not really geared to the family market and have an over 14 years policy when staying at the lodge. Let me know if you need any other info. You can also go to the website to see what rooms and dates we have.
cheers
