Our first two nights in Bhutan were spent here. We had a lovely welcome, beautiful rooms and magnificent views of the valley and the distant mountains. The staff are delightful and the service was charming. It was cold in the mornings with a thick December frost one day, but it was warm and welcoming inside. Each room has an electric heater and the beds are comfortable and warm. The hot water took a time to arrive but that was never an issue.
This was the perfect introduction to Bhutan!

We stayed 2 nights at the Village Lodge on a recent trip to Bhutan, while in Paro. The hotel is a great combination of quaint Bhutanese home and modern amenities in the room. We felt safe and our room was clean, the staff helpful. Highly recommend this - great value for money!

Spacious rooms and bathrooms- really clean, comfortable with good views. All of the staff are so friendly and can’t do enough to help. Breakfast and evening meals have been really good- this is the third hotel I’ve stayed in Bhutan now and this one has been the best food. The chefs did a really fun demonstration on how to make Mo Mo’s!

The hotel itself is ok. The night shift staff lady was very nice. The beds are comfortable enough for couple night. The floor is dusty. Over all, it was a quiet and ok place to stay BUT the only thing I don't like was the way they transfer our luggages from the front gate to our room. To be able to get to the hotel you have to walk thru a dirty path with animals poop. So our luggages were smelly, the poop smell allover our luggages wheels. Luckily, I had my disaffection spray with me. I sprayed my luggages before we transfer to another hotel.

Although this hotel is out of town and not close to anyplace, this place is worth staying. Nice large, comfortable rooms with sitting room. Large bathroom and shower. Nice restaurant with excellent local food. Free Wi-Fi. Friendly and helpful staff. Going out at night, you will need a flashlight as the rooms are in separate buildings.

Do you want to stay in a small, comfortable, no frills lodge with a friendly ,helpful staff? How about if it were close to the airport that services not only Paro, but essentially all of Eastern Bhutan? Finally, add the BEST food I ate during my two week trip to Bhutan!! I most highly recommend the momos ( sort of like ravioli ). Folks, this is the VILLAGE LODGE!! You truly get a feel that this is what Bhutan is all about. There are few tourists, a home-like atmosphere, and the Paro Dzong is close! Do NOT miss the Paro Dzong. Go twice, once during the day and then again at night. The way it is lit up in the evening is so photogenic, that your camera will be kept busy! One important note: if you plan to be there during the Paro festival, book this lodge far in advance!!! A great place to stay!

The food was excellent - bowls of it delivered fresh to your table, not the luke-warm buffets we'd become used to in the rest of our hotels. The only trouble was that on one night we were the only guests, and on the other night there was just one other couple, so it was very quiet in the dining room.
The bed was really comfy and an electric radiator kept the place warm. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was lovely. The hot water supply to the shower seemed to be erratic though - it literally ran hot and cold and didn't respond to any twiddling of control knobs. You just had to stand there and wait for the temperature to regulate.
The hotel is a beautifully restored old farmhouse - really nicely done.
We were surprised to find our bed hadn't been made on our first day, and that night we were asked if we wanted our room cleaned the next day, so it seems that your room is serviced only on request.

This is a decision well made. A beautiful hotel located on the outskirts of Paro. We had a pleasant stay here 😀
Rooms - The rooms were huge and spacious, and equipped with all facilities ( wifi, heater, bathtub, etc.) The view from the rooms was pretty good.
Service - The service was excellent. The staff were attentive and cordial.
Food - Breakfast was quite decent. They served bread toast, fruits, juice, tea, Eggs, Sandwiches, and an Indian dish ( Paratha, Poori Aloo). For lunch and dinner, we ordered Indian food, which were decent in taste.

This family owned, 9 room establishment, go out of their way to please. Service is truly remarkable. Count on wash cloths to rinse with when you enter the front door, smiling faces, and great views of the river flowing nearby. What keeps Village Lodge from a perfect score is 1) flies - there are a lot of them! Screen doors and windows help, but net-net, you're on a farm, and 2) the gravel road takes 20 minutes to traverse, which can get old when using it as a home base.
