Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

10 of us where shuttled here from our resort in Tamarindo. The girl at the tour desk told us 40 min to reach the lodge (1 hr 45 min but thats another story). The horses were adequate. We own our own horses so I was already to back out if the horses appeared abused but a little underfed but they were fine. My husband had the only lively one in the bunch. The 5 person only suspension bridge to the corrals was total unsafe due to the rusted parts. The non English speaking horse wranglers motioned for us to get off by the river and left us. Half the group went the wrong way. Next was the river tubing. By far the highlight of our vacation. We laughed so much. With that said, the 2 employees who led us spoke no English and basic instruction on how to tuck legs in etc would have been welcomed. Next was zip line. The whole tour we felt rushed but zip line was the worst. The photographer kept saying "hurry up " or "get going" the whole time. He was completely rude. Thankfully we were a group who had seen it all. The zip line leaders were sending people thru before the previous person was clear. Nerve-wracking. A few of the platforms and stairs were almost rusted through. Accident waiting to happen. The mud baths were fine. We weren't allowed to do the rock climbing/rappelling. God forbid we spend more time. No comments on why, just rushed us through. Overall not a bad day but lacking many safety standards. We did not stay overnight but the cabins looked cute

We were here as part of an excursion with a tour company. I can only comment on the tubing adventure. We were paired with 2 guides who were really fun and helpful! The river was gorgeous and relaxing. There were quite a few rapids. We did get stuck a few times amongst the rocks but nobody fell out! Lost of beautiful scenery along the way. You can also see a couple of ziplines over the top of the river at one point! So much fun!

Stayed here for two nights as part of a tour of Costa Rica. The experience was a bit of a mixed bag but overall I think the hotel feels a bit unloved and would benefit from some investment. The good Lovely pool area Tasty food and good cocktail Beautiful gardens and grounds Great zip line experience Peaceful and relaxing Areas for improvement Room (#44) was extremely tired we had a broken window, very shabby bathroom & problems with insects (mosquitoes, ants and cockroach) Staff seemed disinterested - a couple of times the bar/restaurant was completely deserted when it was supposed to be open No drinking water dispensers available to refill water bottles - coupled with the bar/restaurant being unexpectedly closed at lunchtime and no restaurants nearby this left us without drinking water which is not ideal in the heat

This lodge reminds us of a US Forestry Lodge. The rooms are large, clean and adequate. They have a/c. The boulevards of the lodges are filled with palm trees. There are two covered outdoor eating areas. The food is just okay at the restaurant and the Nimbu Restaurant for breakfast. The highlight of this place is the spring fed river that attracted many varieties of birds. We swam in this refreshing waterhole next to the spa! We stayed one night. This was our last night in Costa Rica and we needed a place close to the airport. We opted against the hotels on the streets of Liberia for one out near a national forest. The staff here is so friendly and helpful. However be aware that the taxi fare was $60 each way to the airport.

This place has the best zip lines (8 all toll), horseback riding, mud baths and hot springs but the best of all was the white water river tubing. It was full of small water falls and small rapids and large boulders you bounced off. Can be a little sketchy in the dry season as large rocks are close to the surface and can hurt when you hit them but Omar and Richard (our guides) took very good care of us. Well worth the price as you get a whole day of adventures. We did not stay at the hotel but did look at the rooms. Looked great and you would be close to all the action. Nice pool and bar / restaurant area.

Basic accommodation but plenty of room in the bedrooms. Hanging area for clothes and drawers. Seating area outside each place which is good, spa, zip wire and grounds to walk around. Given 3 star as evening meal is not great and ate in an area which was like a canteen, chairs well below table area. Breakfast area is better located. Not a large area to sit and have a drink

Our travel agency gave us the wrong instructions so we ended up at this hotel very late at night. The reception was closed and wasn't expecting us as we were meant to go to a different hotel, but we were able to talk to the manager on the phone who allowed us to stay in an emergency room. The room was quite big with two double beds, air conditioning and a small wardrobe. The shower and the bathroom were clean and spacious. The only thing I would say is that there were no towels, but that could be due to it being an emergency room. The breakfast was very nice and the views overlooked the canyon and river and were lucky to see some monkeys in a tree. In the morning the manager was very kind and attentive and said she would sort out the misunderstanding with the travel agency. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The value for money is quite good, so if I come to Costa Rica again I will ensure I book this hotel to be able to get the full experience.

We stayed our first night in Costa Rica. It was the perfect introduction to this incredible country. The grounds are mature and well maintained without being overdone. The food was wonderful and, fresh. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and delicious. The setting is peaceful. I see complaints about darkness at night. Yes it is true and the reason is explained in the information folder. It is because the lodge respects nature and the night is for night creatures. Pack a small flash light if you need to go out at night. This is not a place to party all night. The rooms are simple, very clean and comfy.

Good place to spend the night before returning our rental car and flying out of Liberia. About 20 minutes from the airport burst you would never know it. Basic clean and comfortable cabinas with good air conditioning and wifi. We completed our preflight Binex tests here. ( Negative) Swam in the river, and soaked in the hot springs. Saw beautiful motmots on the grounds. They offer a variety of adventures but we did not participate. Spoke with one group who had an exciting day, and highly recommended their tours.

We LOVED this place! The rooms are basic, but they are clean and comfortable. The air-conditioning works well, and we didn't see so much as an ant inside of our room. The staff are amazing! We felt so cared for while we were here. We loved the thermal pools at the spa, and the hotel offers great activities at very good prices. We did horseback riding and zip lining. The pool and restaurant are also very nice, and the grounds are beautiful. We saw monkeys on a couple of mornings, which was amazing. I can't give a stronger endorsement than this: we originally booked for 3 nights, and then planned to spend 2 nights in a different hotel by the beach. After spending 1 night at the other hotel, we all missed Canon de la Vieja and decide to come back. It really is someplace very special.
