My wife and I have always enjoyed the fun, touristy town of Cambria, and especially staying at a motel on Moonstone Beach Dr. This was our first time at the Castle Inn, located right across the street from the ocean and being one of more than a dozen other motels/inns along the road. There is a boardwalk path directly across...

Thank you for your review of Castle Inn. We are happy to hear your first visit was a good one, it does sound like that was an ADA room. As Castle Inn was one of the first motels built here, it has some vintage qualities to it that are not easily updated. We have refreshed and updated and continue to...

This was the starting place for our trip up highway 1 and the California coast. Our 2nd floor corner room had a good view of the ocean from the balcony. Walked the boardwalk along the beach just steps from the motel. Could easily have spent a couple of days here if we had time. Restaurants in town close early. Room...

Cambria, middle of a roadtrip via highway 1, first stop. Loving town with loving people. Went with 2 friends and we loved it. Big rooms and bathroom, also very clean. The water from the shower was weak, I suspect it was because of the draught. Free breakfast and amazing view. Go across the road to see the sea otters. We...

You cannot beat this place for location right across from the moonstone beach . I had read great things so booked a ocean view room . Being along the end of the block you need to stand outside the door to get a ocean view . Luckily we were on the 2nd floor or you would not see the ocean...

Thank you for your review of Castle Inn. This is one of the original motels built on Moonstone Beach and has an awesome location across from the tide pools. Our pool and hot tub make it a great family spot and our affordable rates are competitive with others on Moonstone Beach. You were traveling in our top peak season, so...

Our room was large and clean. The location was excellent. The walls were thin as we could hear someone snoring in another room. The bathroom was a bit small. If you have ear plugs to reduce the noise this is a nice place to say for the price.

Really enjoyed our stay here. This area is so laid back and a perfect place to relax. The views are just beautiful. We had a very nice room on the second floor (lugging heavy suitcases up the steps is a negative) with a very comfortable king bed. Small bathroom with shower only, but it's just a small inn so can't...

Our room at Castle Inn was comfortable for the three of us and met all our needs. Even though it didn't have a microwave, it did have a small refrigerator and coffee maker. Since there wasn't an elevator, we requested a room on the ground floor. Luckily, we didn't have anyone noisy above us. We weren't sure what to expect...

We LOVED our stay in Cambria!! In fact, once there, we booked an extra 2 days at the Castle Inn. Incredible ocean views, quaint town with friendly residents, fun shops with helpful artists and shopkeepers....just a fabulous place to get lost in the CA culture!! Highly recommend the Castle Inn....beach walks and sunsets on Moonstone Beach....PERFECT!!

A fabulous place to stay. Such a shame we were only here overnight. Right on the coast; we could see the seals from our window. Great restaurant next door that did take-out. Interesting town with great sandwich shop and coffee house. Would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you so much.

Stayed just one night while travelling highway 1. Not sure what to expect having read some of the reviews but what the place may lack in refinements it makes up for in location and value for money. It's clean, comfortable and honest. Despite what others may have said, it isn't old fashioned and the decor is modern and fresh. It...

Thank you for your review of Castle Inn. It sounds like you really understand us! We wanted to provide an option for families and have redecorated and renovated almost every inch since we bought it from the original owners, and it was in a state of disrepair. But it is the first motel built here and the style of the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It was one of the very first motels built along the Cambria coast when cattle still roamed on Moonstone Beach Drive. The property boasts one of the best geographical locations on the beach. Right in front of the lodge are amazing tide pools to discover sealife, gorgeous lookouts, Leffingwell Landing Park and a wide-open beach upon which to stroll. The grounds at the Inn are broad and situated with comfortable sitting areas for enjoyable ocean viewing and people-watching. All of the guestrooms offer views of the ocean, but the upstairs rooms provide an excellent vantage point to watch the daily sunsets. The rooms at Castle Inn are simple but more than adequate to provide a wonderful stay at the beach. It is our intention to make the property one of the best values along Moonstone Beach and a great option for families. ... more   less
