We had a great weekend at The Bergson. Arrived late on a Friday night and the staff was very accommodating giving us instructions for a key in a lock box to our room. The breakfast was a very nice spread each morning and had everything we wanted (coffee, oatmeal, eggs, quiche, muffins, cereal, fresh fruit)! The room was very clean and loved the cozy fireplace. The location is great, easy walking distance into town we walked to and from local restaurants each night. Also, I noticed a few reviews about the noise from the road, we were on the first floor and honestly did not hear a thing!
This is a wonderful place and is within walking distance to the downtown restaurants and bars. The pictures do not do it justice. It is much nicer than the pictures. We stayed in the King Suite #20 & 21over the main lobby. Even though these room are close to the main room, we did not hear the traffic and we even slept with the door to the balcony open. The bed is comfortable, the Jacuzzi was spacious and it has plenty of room for both of us. It has a glass wall that allows you to see the warm fireplace while soaking in the jacuzzi. Each room has a balcony where you can sit in the evening drinking wine. The centennial breakfast was very good and the staff was very helpful. They even provide a transit pass at no charge so you can tour the local wineries. My wife has never been to Napa or Calistoga and she absolutely loved it and the Bergson.
My daughter and I stayed here for my eldest daughters wedding. We reserved s room with a private patio which was so nice to have. The buildings are quaint and rather small but the upsides were the patio and fireplace. An extra mirror would have been helpful as the room was a bit dark and with only one mirror in the bathroom getting ready wasn’t a ton of fun. The service was friendly, low key and welcoming. The complimentary breakfast was more than plenty with different offerings like quiche, fruits, yogurts, etc. Well located , just a skip and a jump to Lincoln, the Main Street in Calistoga so nice for a morning walk and shopppmg food etc.
We occupied a first floor room at the front of the property and can honestly say we didn't find the road to the front a problem. The room is large with a fire, with room to sit and enjoy the accommodation. The bathroom has quality toiletries and the bed was comfortable providing a good night's sleep. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming and was ready with tips on what to do and see locally. The breakfast in the reception area was as much as you could want short of a cooked breakfast (there were some boiled eggs available) in addition, there were som freshly made cookies availabl at other times. We really enjoyed our all too brief stay here and would love to return.
I stayed at The Bergson this past weekend on a visit to Wine Country with two other couples. The property, located just short of the intersection of Hwy. 29 and Washington Street (the historic business district for the town on Calistoga), is well-maintained and set amongst tall trees and pretty foliage. It is almost directly across the street from Calistoga Pottery, a locally owned studio that is a don't miss if you are out shopping. We were just in time for warm chocolate chip cookies as we checked in on Friday afternoon, however we expected the same treat on Saturday after returning from some local wineries and were sadly disappointed. The breakfast room and lobby are nicely appointed and face a lovely outdoor fountain and patio with tables and chairs if you wish to enjoy your breakfast outside.
Despite many of the rooms being set back from the road this hotel suffers from fairly substantial traffic noise that could be intrusive to a good night's sleep. We were in room 105 which faced the interior parking area and lobby and could hear trucks and cars with the windows closed. When the trucks hit their jake brake to slow down at the signal it is REALLY loud. That being said, the noise in our room was not at a level that prevented us from getting to sleep, but for people looking for real tranquility it could be an issue. Other sound issues include poor insulation in the walls. We woke up to the couple in the adjoining room coughing and clearing their throats.
Room 105 is very petite with only enough room to walk in the door and around the bed, but it does have a pretty fireplace, (although the old plastic log set lit by a single bulb looks like something from a cheap Christmas display and cheapens the effect.) a small table and chairs, built-in shelf for the coffee maker and a corner mounted t.v. The bathroom is similarly space impaired. More than one person could not enter at the same time unless one party stepped into the corner shower. It has no tub, just a shower, toilet and one sink.
Breakfast was adequate. In addition to the usual continental style breakfast offerings there was one hot entree each morning. Be forewarned that if you want decaf coffee it needs to be made in your room as they do not offer it as part of the spread.
This hotel has many good qualities but due to traffic issues I can't say it would warrant a repeat visit for me.
Thank you for staying with us. We are so glad you enjoyed our hotel and convenient location. We apologize for the noise you experienced. Unfortunately during harvest season there are more trucks then normal on the highway during the early hours of the mornings. We do have many different room types and layouts. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again. Warm regards, John Kennedy

Hi .. sorry its taken so long to answer .. i didnt realize i was being asked a question through this site. I dont think the hotel offers anyrhing but I'm sure maybe other companies do. Its not real close to SF... defiantly something you could do for a day trip but it would be a long one. When we went we flew into SF landing early then spent the day then drive to Calistoga but you might want to stay in SF the night after a long day then the next morning leave and go up to Napa. Have fun!!

The door to the patio is secured with a dead bolt style lock, operable from the inside only. The patio is open-air, but fully enclosed with 7-8ft walls. The windows are secured with latch style locks, very similar to those in residential homes. We look forward to your visit! Please let us know if we can do anything to make your stay more comfortable.
