Detailed Reviews
Great little pub from late 1800s. Interesting interior with great collection of items. Very welcoming and hospitable owners and really good food at very affordable prices. Quite interesting stories from a great host and warm fire on a cold afternoon and evening.

Very friendly staff and welcoming when coming into town from jamestown, comfortable relaxing and great history. Recently renovated, so clean and relaxing if staying for the night with home made food. Stop for a drink or a night.

We stayed here overnight in mid-March 2021 while cycling the Mawson Trail. It's known locally as "the Wild Dog Hotel", and has a second entry on Tripadvisor with more reviews as the "Wildongoleechie Hotel Restaurant". We stayed in a cosy Queen Bed room. The hotel is old (dates from the 1860s) which is part of its attraction but that means it has limited room availability and the amenities are shared. Food was good, chips were great. I had the fabulously filling & different Wild Dog Schnitzel for dinner. Wish I'd had room to try the homemade cheesecake, or the homemade muffins with ice cream for dessert! Cooked breakfast was also good to get us on our way cycling to Burra, and the homegrown tomatoes were really tasty! Graham & Charmaine are friendly, helpful & flexible hosts, and their years of experience previously running a successful cafe shows through in the food quality here. Graham found us a good spot to leave our bikes, & we were also able to buy sandwiches to take for our next day's lunch, which was a lifesaver. If you want to camp outside, it's free if you buy a meal. Recommend you ring to check opening dats/times before you plan to visit.

Yeh what can I say, very old pub, very busy, the with and myself went on a Saturday night and we were the only ones there. No beer on tap only bottles in fridge. 2 choices for dinner , pizza and pizza. The publican Chris does everything, loves a chat, finally sold pub , new owners from Omeo take over in 4 weeks , a lot needs to change. This is sheep country and there are only 70 locals / cockyies that live in area. Yep definitely a one dog town.
