We liked this place! Mainly because of its surroundings, Anza-Borrego is a wonderful park! After an evening walk in Palm Canyon, we arrived at Stanlunds after dark. The lady at the reception was VERY friendly and we had a nice chat. I did not have high expectations about this place (what else can you expect for 110 eur per night...

We have stayed at this motel a number of times in the past, back when it was $55 a night. It is not worth $125 - $155 per night. It is nice but old and by no means a resort. It has no ammenties worthy of being called a resort (i.e. no spa, not even a jacuzzi). The pool is...

I stayed at Stanlunds one night and Al stayed up to make sure we got into the room alright even though we got there late. The room was very clean and the A/C worked well! Standing outside at night you can see millions of stars. I think this place was lovely and great for the price.

Though I've been visiting Borrego for 24 years, I usually camp or stay at a resort. But I wanted to do a quick and cheap 2 night stay in the summer and the rates were right. I've known about the place for years, and clearly it is like an old fashioned motor court motel. But considering the reasonable rates, the...

Stanlunds was very clean, quiet, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The desk clerk was more than happy to answer all our questions about the desert, Borrego Springs, plants, etc. I plan on visiting again this year. The solitude was wonderful.

This motel is so misrepresented by the photos on the website. This place is a smelly, filthy dump, with mold growing in the showers, bugs in the sink and unvacuumed floor, and a stovetop that looks like it hasn't seen a sponge in decades. It was difficult to find a blade of green grass anywhere. After getting shocked from the...

I paid $77 total but felt the value is more like $50. While the room was large and appeared clean, it smelled like Sour Cream&Onion potato chips. I guess if you're a big fan of those chips, you might like the smell, but I thought it was too odd. Speaking of strange, the man at the front desk looked like...

Spent five days. Had a great time. Is it the Ritz-Carelton, heck no (they won't take my dog). Is it quiet, Yep! Is it old, oh yeh!! Does it have rooms with full kitchens, Yep! Does it have a bunch of partying drunks falling in the pool at 3 am, Nope. Are the grounds nicely kept, Yep. Petunias in full...

Our room included a kitchenette, but we only used the fridge and microwave during our stay. Due to the brick and mortar construction and one-level design, the rooms were insulated from sound very well. The price for this hotel and others in Borrego Springs was very high for what you get, but that's probably because it's a captive market. The...

We were two couples wanting to visit the Anza Borrego area. We cose Stanlunds because of the price and location. We were not disapiointed. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was adequate for all of us. About two miles from the state park was a perfect location. Restaurants and shopping were near by. The staff was courteous...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Stanlunds is situated in the heart of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It was built in the 50s and was remodeled in 2005. A very quiet and peaceful place. Good for people looking for peace and tranquility- but you can still be connected to the world with our wireless DSL available in all rooms. All of our rooms are equipped with a microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker. Some rooms have private patios & kitchens -some with ovens- and BBQs. This gives you all that is required for sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the warm weather with beautiful views of the mountains. Free Continental breakfast on weekends during season. On special occasions we reserve the right to implement a two night minimum stay. ... more   less
