Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I spent a night here over the weekend - wish I'd had longer. I loved it the second I walked through the gate - it just looked so relaxing. The ducks and chickens were roaming, the birds were singing. The property is beautiful, surrounded by trees, and overlooking a lake, which you have access too. The owners are lovely. And then I was s shown to my room ( or 'Wing' ). So spacious, and with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Even some raisin bread which I had the next morning for breakfast. Yum! Huge windows to overlook the gardens and lake. I had a balcony with table and chairs, and the most beautiful birds dropping by. I can highly recommend a stay here.

I found this place last year and just had to come back again. It is so peaceful, with beautiful views of the grounds and lake. The rooms are very spacious and clean, and the owners are lovely. The home made fruit bread is pretty amazing too. It's close to Noble Falls - which are beautiful in winter and spring, and Berry Reserve with more waterfalls and wildflowers. It's just a great spot to stay and explore.

Stayed at this amazing lodge for 4 nights. Perfect relaxing and secluded area. Short drive to many attractions around. Very welcoming retired couple who run it. Away from the hustle and bustle of Perth. Peace and quiet,a place to let kids run around and enjoy nature at its best. Wildlife all around, visiting birds every morning and evening. You wanna get away from stress and want to relax and be at peace, this is the perfect place to do so!

Looking very tired, owner abrupt and unfriendly, could do with some customer service training - partner ignored at greeting, very little lakeside views as advertised. Booked on star rating and photos for a birthday, extremely disappointed. After reviewing the accommodation and lack of views, decided to leave and spoke with owner explaining reasons why. Two days later owner deduct full rate from my son's credit card who booked online in good faith as a birthday present.

As there was a conference (AOG) in Perth the prices of hotels were riduculous so booked outside. Peter from the B&B was very welcoming. Excellent breakfast with wonderful view from bedroom window. You will need a car to travel around. Would definitely recommend this place which I stayed for 3 nights.

We stayed at Lakeview Lodge for our 3rd anniversary. On the day of our booking my husband and daughter were sick and I rang to see if we could change which they did, very accommodating at no charge.

Peter - our host was very pleasant, the rooms were clean and charming - beautiful view but the name Lake is deceiving, no Lake to speak of, just a large pond. Grounds aren't huge but pleasant to walk around. There are restaurants and cafes within 10min to Mundaring (driving).

It was a very pleasant, comfortable stay, but there are little touches that could've been done to make it even more pleasant (such as: breakfast hot meals being brought out together rather than 5 minute interval, menu design is plain font - I know it's little but presentation is everything - design a nice looking menu!)

We weren't long out of our rooms during the day but pretty sure our room wasn't checked - at least our bin wasn't emptied...

Would definitely return but if you are looking for something that extra bit special than perhaps leave this for a time when you just want a weekend away.

We stayed the night at Lakeview Lodge to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The only reason we chose Lakeview Lodge (which is actually a B&B, which I hadn't realised until arriving there) was because it was recommended by the Loose Box restaurant, because the owner offers complimentary transport to the restaurant (15 mins drive). Despite being a B&B it still cost us $265 a night. The Lodge is situated in a fairly remote location so there are no cafe or restaurants close by. The location is quite pretty, although the name Lakeview Lodge is a little misleading as where I come from the pool of water the rooms overlook, even if full, would be called a pond, but without the lillies.
Unfortunately, our stay was marred by the poor greeting (or lack of) by the owner. No welcome, but instead immediately asked to sign a document to say we would not smoke on the premises (we don't smoke anyway) and that we would agree to pay for any damage caused. I was then asked for my credit card to pay the rest of the bill, having already paid $100 deposit on booking the reservation.
We were then shown to our room which had been described by email as 'The West Wing accommodation'. It was however, one of two purpose built rooms which was very spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean with a large ensuite bathroom and separate toilet. My pet hate, however, is a bed made up, not with a duvet but a sheet and a brown blanket. My heart sinks when I see the bed is made up in this way, and I have yet to stay in any accommodation in which there hasn't been a stale smell of sweat where brown blankets are used.
The choice of food offered at breakfast was superb.
On the whole it was a pleasant stay, but wouldn't rush back.

We selected this property for a quiet "away from it all" relaxing weekend. We should have paid more attention to the reviews here on TripAdvisor. The approach to the property, and it's gardens, have a decidedly uncared for appearance (see photos) and the faded condition of the Welcome Sign should have warned us what to expect. When we did enter we were greeted by 2 or 3 minutes of listening to the owner yelling at her dogs to stop barking - this was not "welcome" at all.

The room (West Wing) was comfortable but not that flash - a bit dusty - just OK overall. But - for about $160 per night room only it certainly did not represent value for money in any respect. As others have mentioned in reviews, the Lake as in Lakeview is more of a pond.

The Gardens are unkempt and not cared for - the only excuse could be that it is autumn and maybe the change of seasons has not been managed with green fingers - but regardless for the money we expected more pleasant surroundings. Photo attached.

We can't in all honesty recommend this property to anyone. The owner commented that it had been particularly quiet recently - I wonder why!

If you are looking for a place to stay to experience the Perth Hills, with good proximity to the Swan Valley (and also the Avon Valley), Lakeview Lodge is well worth considering. Swan Valley is about 20 minutes away.

It is also about 45 minutes from the airport, although the Lakeview website could probably be somewhat enhanced to give better directions/maps, as you are literally well off the main roads here.

Peter and Robyn make the guests feel very welcome; they built the place 15 years ago and have been running the accommodation business for 8 years, so make for good hosts.

My room was spacious and whilst not a contemporary look, it was very clean and nicely presented with the usual motel amenities. You also have your own outside space, which you can use for accessing the room from the car park if you wish. A desk with more electric sockets, plus some counter-top space in the bathroom, would have been useful, but this is probably just nit-picking.

Be aware that you are in the flight path, when I was there the departing flights would go overhead quite regularly through the night; there isn’t much of view (despite the name); and the lake is extremely small at the tail end of a dry summer. But there are some horses in the distance instead….

Wi-fi didn’t work, despite spending quite a bit of time trying to sort this (Peter said that his guests who used Apple all had the same problem, although this didn’t make it better!), and I didn’t enjoy my enforced digital detox. There is a slightly scary collection of dolls in the main lobby area. The motel was surprisingly expensive for the offer (maybe due to its proximity to Swan Valley) and so my star rating reflects value for money; if I was considering quality of stay, or had been paying eg A$30 less per night, I would have gone with four stars.
