Travellers' Choice
Founded in 1946, Cardinal Village is nestled in the Eastern side of the Sierra National Forest. Our cabins are surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The historic cabins were built at the turn of the century to serve the gold mine nearby (you can take a short hike to the remains!). Our resort is bordered to the west by Bishop Creek with a picturesque pond teeming with trophy trout at the east end of the property. Each one of our 14 housekeeping cabins offers views of Cardinal Peak, a picnic area, fire pit, and suitable amenities to make your stay comfortable. Each cabin has a full kitchen equipped with kitchen utensils as well as fresh linens, towel sets, and unique bars of glycerin soap. You’ll find easy access to stream and lake fishing! The Cardinal Cafe is open 8am-3pm, seven days a week. Our resort is family-friendly, with beautiful lawn areas for kids to run, a “kid’s creek” running through the property, and access to the Cardinal Pond — a public, stocked pond, perfect for a beginner fisherman! We hope you’ll stop by and say hello and experience the beauty and wonder of our rustic resort.

This place from start to finish was amazing. The staff was fun and entertaining us with that scary yes scary North Lake ride. Fun times playing in the snow patch in a bikini in front of the boat. Beautiful grounds and area. Thanks for the best night ever. Lovey and Craig

We've camped in the Eastern Sierra for forty years. This year we chose to GLAMP at Cardinal Village in Aspendell. We stayed almost two weeks in a comfortable cabin within walking distance or a short drive to fishing the lakes and streams and hiking trails surrounding Lake Sabrina and North Lake, most that we accessed from our cabin. From our back patio we marveled at the incredible rock face and watched a California Quail family and red-headed woodpecker pair fledge their young. We enjoyed a daily breakfast at the Cardinal Cafe and often enjoyed a late lunch in lieu of fixing dinner. The staff at Cardinal Village is friendly, knowledgeable of the area, remembers guests by their names and gives suggestions and guidance on hiking, fishing, and sightseeing.

Our family has been coming here since the 70’s, and each year it improves! The vibe is cozy, family oriented with fabulous, loving staff, and the mountains, trees, streams, ponds, deer 🦌 and nature in general is priceless. Fishing has decreased every year, but it is a great place to get away and make family memories.

I love the Bishop Creek area and have driven by Cardinal Village many times. This time I decided to check in for a few days. First of all the staff greets you by name as soon as you walk in, the cabins are cozy and comfortable, stocked with what you need, their coffee at the cafe is excellent, the breakfast is exception with home potatoes to die for. It is centrally located to all the lakes, creeks and trail the Bishop Creek area has to offer. The grounds are meticulously care for and the Bishop Creek runs right thru the village. They have a very good fish cleaning area and even have their own pond. The hiking trails are fun and visual....see photos. If you want to relax around the fire after a good day of fishing, make this your next vacation spot.

My family and I love this place... everyone that works there are very nice and friendly. The colors of autumn were so beautiful ❤ and the hikes were very easy to the waterfall cascade and to the mine. Thank you!
