The room was large and had a separate sitting room. The bathroom was good sized though the shower stall is rather small. Very very clean. Location is great. If you are traveling alone and nervous about staying in a place by yourself, probably not for you. There is no staff at the hotel. I'm pretty sure I was the only occupant in the building. Also, if you are a light sleeper you won't enjoy your stay. There is a train crossing very close. (I grew up around trains so didn't even phase me, just reminded me of home) There is parking that is off the street. There are some places to eat within walking distance. I really enjoyed the room and have let other family members know about it for visits in the future.
Very eccentric, love the atmosphere. Roomy and comfortable, very large bathroom! Downsides were lots of stairs to climb and very few extras (no flatware in kitchenette, no paper towels and very little toilet paper). So if you are aware and plan ahead it’s a very good place to stay, in walking distance of restaurants, etc.
The hotel is located in a historical building in the downtown area. We stayed in the Hughes suite. The suite was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the old world feel of the hotel with all the modern amenities. Walnut is a great getaway Beatles park, Guitar walk, lots of murals and art work. We went to Lake Charles, Wings of Honor Museum, Powhatan state park. We plan to go back again.
The hotel provides procedures for the guests to securely let themselves and check themselves in. Situated in a beautiful historic building, but with ample modern amenities including great air conducting Wifi and cable. Immaculately clean. Great place, steps away from the Amtrak station.
The rooms were nice and clean, well stocked with whatever you may need (coffee, towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, creamer, water, etc) The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, will answer your calls and texts promptly. Highly recommend!
