We live in Chile from the US and like most Chilean hotels and institutions the service at Isla Seca was absolutely horrible. We did not have one isolated event but nearly everything we needed at the hotel was difficult. I will say in all of Latin America it is Chile is not known for warm hospitality or service. The check in was very unfriendly and receiving attention in the restaurant was impossible. Many of the things on the menu were not even available in what is considered semi-high season. Unfriendliness is common and expected in Santiago, however we had hoped in an upscale tourist hotel things would be different. I will say this hotel is beautiful and has immense potential. A good management team could turn this around in no time.

Marvellous potential with great ocean views with lovely public rooms. However.....No apparent management or staff guidance. Breakfast starts at 8AM but many items only arrive by 8.30. Constant crash bang wallop in dining room as chairs & tables with no noise softeners moved around. Some bedrooms in distant annexe and some bathrooms with tiny showers - careful not to drop the soap. Lovely poolside garden has lack of sunbeds. Somebody needs to take control. Evening menu limited but food excellent. Reception often manned by non English speaking staff.

I came to this Hotel in late 2018 and had a wonderful experience. So I decided to go back in February 2020. I had a bad experience this second time. The biggest issue that I had was an annoying noise coming from the bathroom, associated with a water pressure problem. First, the staff did not believe us (!!!). The second time we complained, they checked the bathroom but did nothing. The third time we complained, they sent someone to hear the noise and did nothing. They never offered to change the room. As a result, we spent two nights almost without sleeping. When we checked out, we complained again, and they offered a 10% discount to compensate for the problem. Still, those two nights I could not sleep well ruined my weekend. I never expected a hotel at the level of the Isla Seca Hotel to provide such a bad experience. The second problem that I had connected with the impossibility of fully enjoying the swimming pool area. That area has a nice view and a relaxed atmosphere, but it almost impossible to get one of the "reposeras" (the beach chairs that are used to lay down). They just have too many people trying to use them and customers compete to get them. After a couple of hours waiting for a reposera (I wated in the restaurant while having a drink), only one reposera became available, but we needed two (I was with my wife). I wonder what the purpose of having such a beatiful area is, if customers cannot fully enjoy them. To be fair, it is important to say that the building is cute, the views are good, and the hotel located in one of the most exclusive areas of the Chilean coastal areas. It takes around 15 minutes to walk to the beach through a forest trail and the staff is friendly. The breakfast is ok, but not at the level you might expect from the price you pay.

Dear Guest: First of all I want to thank your comments and at the same time offer our apologies for not having fulfilled your expectations, I find it very unfortunate not to have been able to provide a much more pleasant stay, it does not represent our spirit of service and attention, we really feel very ashamed for What you tell us. I will investigate and follow up on each situation, so that the teams involved can improve and give much more importance to the details and problems that our guests may have. Again we are very sorry, but I can assure you that we will make all our efforts to ensure that we provide a much better experience in an upcoming stay, where I would personally like to receive it. Regards

We are a U.S. couple in our late 60s who have done a lot of high-end travel throughout the world. We spent three nights at the Hotel Isla Seca in January. The hotel and its surroundings are beautiful. Our premium matrimonial room was very comfortable with a magnificent ocean view. The pool area is great. The town of Zapallar and the beach walk are delightful. The nearby casual fish restaurant, Chiringuito, has the freshest seafood at reasonable prices. All these positive aspects of our stay were offset by unfriendly service, perhaps because we don’t speak much Spanish, but it seemed to be the case that the staff were instructed not to smile or greet guests, whether Chilean or not. We had the impression that management feels that the hotel would be more efficient without guests. No wonder that there were few people dining in the hotel restaurant.

This is a very well located boutique hotel. It is a nice house, very close to the ocean and to the trails near Zapallar. The rooms are reasonably well decorated and comfortable. Service is very poor: Slow check in, people complaining at the front desk about inconsistencies in their reservation. We asked for a half an hour late check out which was denied, like all the rooms are going to be serviced exactly at 12 noon. The hotel bar service was closed by 11PM on a Saturday summer evening. Buffet breakfast was of very poor quality. Not a keeper.
