Had a wonderfully relaxed weekend surrounded by nature but still close to all the main tourist spots. Accommodation was spotless and provided all the comforts whilst maintaining our privacy. Will certainly be making another visit to the cottages and won't hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

What a lovely place - stay here if you like nature and don’t mind sharing your environment with some of the local fauna. Cozy bedrooms, lovely wood burning stove inside a d BBQ outside. We loved it and would definitely come again.

Beautiful clean fully equipped cabins. The perfect place to getaway and unwind. We stayed in cottage 1 with two kids and a dog, and had a lovely time. The cabins are clean and quaint with everything you need. The fenced verandah is perfect for the furry family member. Although we couldn't use the outdoor fire pit because it rained while we were there, the indoor fire place made up for it! Thank you for a wonderful stay.. can't wait to go back!!

Quiet, comfortable cottages in the middle of a beautiful forest setting. Two bedrooms and a toilet are upstairs. There were 3 single beds and one double bed. Kitchen, dining and lounge area downstairs with bathroom and toilet. Lovely warm wood fire to snuggle up to or air conditioning. Everything was supplied. Out door enclosed patio to keep you dogs safe or you could have them inside with you. On site laundry if you were intending a long stay. If you like bush walks there are plenty. Margaret River approx. 15 km. This was our second visit.

For a couple of Uni students needing to unwind, the stone cottages were a dream. Nestled in a little clearing, the sound of birds, wind and rain added a cosy winter ambience to the lovely accomodation. It had everything we could need to hide away from the world for a week, a kitchen, fire and warm beds. We will most definitely be back!

I won't be the first, or last, to borrow that saying :). It describes Margaret River Stone Cottages well. There are five (I think) cottages with a decent amount of space between each. To the front there is a large grassed area, which due to the heat is really dried out and not pretty to look at, but that's WA weather. This space is perfect for the dogs to run around and kids Beyond that and to the back of all the cottages you are surrounded by trees, bush and fields. It's really unique. The cottages are quaint and well equipped. There's a small enclosed patio at the back, again good for the dogs. It's not that high, so I'd say many dogs could jump if inclined but we were out there when our dogs were there so it was all good. Dogs are not allowed upstairs, which I think is fine, our dogs weren't happy about it and cried a bit but it's only fair to all guests and the owners. We visited Augusta and Hamelin Bay as well as Margaret River and loved the whole area. Overall, a really peaceful getaway. We'll be back.

After seeing lovely pics of the place, I did expect more, there was no dog bed, dogs weren't allowed upstairs, on beds, on couches, fair enough but that doesn't seem like a dog friendly stay to me. The fencing around the patio- the only fenced area for dogs, the wire was not secure to the wood frame, my partner tried to make more secure & place things as barricade to keep the dog in. Also was a bit concerned about fox baits in area so you have to be careful walking the dog & keep on a lead for most of it . Over priced. Bit far out of the way from Margaret river & the places we wanted to visit. Also sooo many places on the internet say dog friendly & we found were not. Great hot water system , showers looked to need a good scrub, beds were clean /tidy. BBQ- I had to really clean up before we used, it's almost falling through at the bottom with rust. Kitchen doesn't have much in the way of utensils & pans. The fry pan was so old everything stuck to it. Creepy kids Sand pit, looked as if it could have a clean up. I wouldn't go back I'm afraid. Contact from Stacey & Felix wasn't great either. We arrived with no idea where to go or what cottage we were in. Lucky they were there to let us know they'd left a key in a cottage door for us. They had thought they'd spoken over phone with us but we'd only received very brief uninformative emails. Over all was ok, we made our fun adventuring around.

Response from Stonecottages, Manager at Margaret River Stone Cottages
Responded 4 Feb 2017
I would like to extend our sincere apologies for your disappointment during your stay with us. Your feedback is very important to us, particularly as new managers of the cottages we are continually trying to better our processes and business. The lack of communication prior to your check-in was a sincere error and 100% our fault. We apologise for this and are looking in to developing a more fool-proof system so this sort of error does not happen again. Our dog friendly status will in future be communicated more clearly to our guests. For health and hygiene purposes pets will never be allowed upstairs on the bedding. We simply provide accommodation where your pets can come and be on the premises. We expect that guests cater for their dogs with their own bedding, food and all other pet amenities. It is simply too much work and responsibility on our behalf if we were to provide bedding for all dogs and to keep them clean/flea free etc. We are putting systems in place to keep on top of maintenance of the cottages as it is difficult to check that everything is working correctly during our cleaning/prep. Thank you for raising some of the issues with the cottages; they have all been fixed now and have been stocked with more utensils and cooking equipment. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. Kind regards, Stacey & Felix

We have just had 10 nights at Margaret river stone cottages. Wow, what a great place to stay. The cottages are definately home from home. Very comfortable & well equiped. Everything has been thought of. Our 2 dogs enjoyed walking in the bush & playing on the grassed area in front of the cottages. We will definately return for a holiday here & will be recommending it to all our friends who have dogs.

Dog friendly place, perfect for small family, although the cottage we stayed in had 3 single beds and 1 queen. The cottage was well looked after, the aircond worked a treat, and so did the fire place. The main door didnt shut very well, we found we had to lock it every time to keep it shut. It was about 10mins drive into margaret river too. Definitely should have driving lights around this area. No mobile phone service here with optus
