The good things-shuttle bus runs every half hour to both stations and into town. Stops at 5.45pm. This means you vitually have to eat in the hotel. buffet price currently 5500yen/person or about £45 /head nice but not at that price. Our room had great views but was a little tired needed a coat of paint and an updated bathroom.... More

Our room was very nice and comfortable and their services including the shuttle driver, the front desk personnel and the restaurants servers were all excellent. Two things I did not like were that their restaurants had skimpy paper OSHIBORI and paper napkins which meant not a good establishment and no wifi in our room.

We arrived by train and were picked up shortly after we arrived by a complimentary shuttle service provided by the hotel. We had an nice Ocean-view room and the view was amazing, especially at sunset. The room itself was lovely. The nicest we stayed in during our holiday in Japan. Both the dinner and breakfast were also first class. If... More

When we first pulled into Taikanso our confidence level was not high. Nobody assisted us with our heavy bags from the JR shuttle bus, there was a LOOOONG line at reception, and the place seemed very disorganized. To make matters worse, my 20 word Japanese vocabulary was useless. Nobody who was present in the entire place spoke a lick of... More

The hotel is great. Very beautiful, clean and comfortable room. Our room has the view of the ocean and Matsushima islands. The hotel itself is located at the top of the hill overlook the ocean. Beautiful lobby and lounge. Best breakfast and dinner buffet with lots of choices of food and drinks and desserts. Good services and friendly staff. Free... More

We stayed in a half Japanese and half western style room (two beds and tatami with low table), which was spacious with magnificent view overlooking Matsushima Bay. Both breakfast and dinner buffets offered great food with a wide range of choices, there was a tuna cutting performance during dinner. Sea view room is a must. Highly recommend.

Matsushima is a stunning area to visit, and this hotel is a top hotel offering some great views. The hotel is set back from the sea on a hill, with the most stunning views *only* available from the sea-facing rooms on the upper floors. If your room is on the other side, you get a pleasant forest view (perhaps with... More

The buffet (breakfast, dinner) is excellent: western, japanese (+ a bit of chinese). The bath is amazing: you will relax after a day of work. There is even a karaoke! a shop, kids' corner, etc.... The hotel offered breath-taking ocean view, incredible buffet (both dinner and breakfast), and relaxing Japanese bath. We stayed only one night, in a Japanese-Western room (two beds and a tatami mat room). The room had a sweeping view of the Pacific and we watched the full moon rising and shining over the ocean. The dinner was just a huge surprise.... More

I booked one sea-side room (Western/Japanese style) at Zuishokaku, the main building where the front desk is located. We, a family of 5, stayed for 2 nights from July 19, one of the buiest weekends in summer. Room -- Enough space for 5 adults. The view was great. The equipment was adequate. The decor was out-dated, but clean. My major... More
