Our stay at Grapetree was quite enjoyable. The room was large, efficiency kitchen and nice size balcony that overlooked the ocean, all rooms provide an amazing view. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. The location is off the beaten path and if you intend to go out for meals, shopping or touring the Island, you should rent a car. There is no access to a beach from this hotel even though you overlook the ocean. However, Cramer’s Park which is free and has direct access to a pristine beach is about a five minute drive from Grapetree. Also, Point Udell which provides an unparalleled view is on the same route. The hotel provided daily complimentary breakfast which we enjoyed, they had evening entertainment and two places where you could purchase food and drinks. Room service was provided on the third day of our stay and the room was throughly cleaned. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and informative. The property is a work in progress, the main hotel is completely renovated, they are almost complete with two blocks of villas and will begin work on the next set. I highly recommend GRAPETREE Bay Hotel and Villas if you want a relaxing vacation in an exceptional hotel.

This hotel is a must stay. We stayed five nights and four days and it was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the third floor which is the floor where check in is located and the room was so beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Our beautiful balcony was right on the water. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. The pool is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, the customer service is amazing , the food is good and the two restaurants on the grounds is wonderful. We ate breakfast by the water just about every day and our waitress Dana was a wealth of knowledge and was so very friendly and the owners are very pleasant to talk to. This was my favorite vacation and will definitely come back to stay at the Grapetree. I’m very picky about my accommodation and after coming to St. Croix and visiting other hotels, I was so very glad that I Chose the Grapetree.

My new husband and I chose Grapetree Bay for our honeymoon and we were not disappointed! We absolutely loved the ocean view from our room (which there is one for every single room!) and sometimes we literally walked to the beach off of our patio. All of the staff was very helpful, welcoming and friendly! Brett, Morgan, and Tiffany are all wonderful servers and were there all week making our experience more personal. Grapetree Hotel is very well kept, it's an incredible restoration of the original resort and is bright, clean, unpretentious, and perfectly situated. The only thing to know is that Grapetree is on the east end of the island - for midwesterners like us, we didn't think much about it before we arrived, but for locals it is definitely on the side of the island with less happening and way less taxi availability. This doesn't mean you shouldn't go, quite the opposite - the east end has a very natural, local feel and felt very safe and uncrowded. As long as you make sure to rent a car (we didn't and we totally should have), the east end is very desirable! I know some folks commented on the rockiness of the beaches but in our experience, we headed west for a 3 minute walk every day to a sandy beach - perfect for swimming and sunning. We would go back in a heartbeat - thank you Grapetree Bay!

We chose this hotel for our honeymoon. Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was not as expected. The beautiful scenery and beach couldn’t fully compensate for the lack of hot water. The inability to take a hot shower after long walks around the city and relaxing on the beach left a negative impression. Our stay was from Friday until Tuesday. When we contacted the reception on Friday, we were told that the issue with hot water would be resolved within on Monday, which was not unacceptable to us. We had to check out of the hotel earlier than planned the next morning. Unfortunately, the hotel did not refund us, and they claimed that the water was already hot when agent contacted the hotel. However, when we returned to the room with a hotel staff member, they informed us that the water (cold) was indeed their “hot” water, as they lacked the energy to heat it. Hotel refused to compensate us for days that we did not stay. Very unprofessional management.

This was a mixed stay. Please understand that I did like my stay and I see the potential of this resort however it is going through some growing pains and is trying to find its way. The property is located on the East End of St Croix and is very remote from other parts of the island and even the airport. The room I had was very spacious with a king sized bed, large bathroom and shower. I also had a a beachfront balcony. Now for the not so positive, there is no working elevator and for those with mobility issues it’s a lot of stairs. Also the rooms have digital locks on the doors and didn’t seem so secure also food options are limited and they tend to run out of food items. Also the main dining area is dated the tables and chairs and it’s outdoors and sometimes I was afraid the food would fly off the plate but the he food was good. Also I have to say that the staff are friendly and helpful. Now another issue I had was that housekeeping comes every 3rd day to change towels but they will do some light cleaning if you request it. So if you’re looking for your bed made and fresh towels daily that’s not gonna happen. Also they do use nice bath products Beekman 1803. In all fairness to this property they are a work in progress. So if these are not obstacles then I would say give Grapetree Bay a chance.

A beautiful location and we have lunch here every January since they opened but we won’t return. Yesterday I had a $20 salad barely enough salad never mind any fixings that should have been on it. The other sandwiches look okay, but too many other great restaurants here that I won’t feel ripped off at. Also check to see if a tip is added to your bill anywhere you go before you add your tip.

We stayed at Grapetree for a wonderful month. The Resort was well laid out. The room was airy and bright and decorated with all a guest would need - an extremely comfortable king-sized bed, a dining table, large bureau, a large desk/computer table, a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and wine fridge which was large enough to store groceries as well. There also was plenty of kitchen cabinets for storage. The bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower. Right off the bedroom area was a large balcony looking out over the Caribbean Sea. A guest could sit and watch the waves and the light changing on the sea. Cruise ships, container ships, etc., could be watched passing by on the horizon. The balcony was so close to the water that when it was very rough, a light salt spray would occasionally make its way to the balcony. The balcony had a covered roof so that depending on the time of day, a guest could sun or enjoy the cool shade. If one looked to the left, one could see the sunrise. If one looked to the right, one could watch a sunset.

The pool was large and the water sparkling clean and comfortably warm. One could also sit by the pool, listen to live music in the evenings, and watch the sun set.

One of the most exceptional parts of the experience was the staff. Everyone from the owners, to the people at the front desk, to the restaurant chefs, to the waitstaff and bartenders, to housekeeping, to maintenance, pool and ground staff, and security were incredibly friendly and helpful. We should just say that that includes everyone as we don't mean to leave anyone out. We have stayed on all the Virgin Islands for over 43 years and the people working at Grapetree were some of the nicest, most attentive, and efficient people whom we have encountered.

We have recommended this resort to our family and friends.

Grapetree Bay is a great, relaxing, peaceful beach front hotel. The employees were all friendly and helpful. I loved my room which was spacious, nicely decorated, equipped with typical conveniences, very comfortable bed, and relaxing balcony with breathtaking view of the ocean and the island. The location is a little distance away from everything (something I enjoyed) and the beach is not for swimming. I rented a car to go beach hopping, exploring and shopping during the day and returned to the tranquility of the hotel in the evenings. I completely enjoyed my stay @Grapetree Bay and will return there on my next visit to St. Croix.

Another great wine tasting and amazing food paired with each new wine. John did a great job leading the tasting and the GRBH staff serving was top notch. Brought some first timers as well as repeat wine tasters - everyone enjoyed it! Music was great - atmosphere was lovely.

Definitely a diamond in the rough! The hotel is being renovated after the 2017 hurricanes.
Our room was completely renovated and right on the beach. The AC unit worked well, and the room was clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.
The elevator wasn't working. The pool was uncrowded most of the time, and a nice place to relax.
We were given breakfast vouchers for each day, and we used most of them. The three restaurants served great food, and the staff was able to effectively accommodate hotel customers and outside diners as well.
The staff was friendly and welcoming. Stories about how they came to live on St. Croix were interesting and inspiring.
The beach is made up of coral, in various stages of decomposition, and we could watch sea turtles in the waves beyond the shore.
The fact is, the place is a work in progress, as is much of the island itself. Overall, I would recommend the hotel if you want to be away from crowds and need some quiet time.
