Eat here frequently and the food is always great! The mountain views are amazing. The restaurant is beautifully designed with aspen trees brought in from Alaska and Colorado. Also the floor to ceiling windows provide panoramic views of the mountain landscape as you dine. The food is made fresh as you order and the servings are very generous. We ended...

Somehow never made it to Petit Jean until my niece got married last week. Absolutely loved what little bit I could see. Coffee in lodge is great :) Gorgeous pool. Beautiful hiking trail from lodge to Cedar Falls. Fair warning: when they say the trail is "strenuous and rocky" they mean it. This trial makes Bright Angel at the Grand...

Mather Lodge offers scenic views, a swimming pool and is close to several trailheads. It is reminiscent of many of the lodges in the National Park System.Once there I learned that the founders of Petit Jean wanted the area to become part of the NPS, but is wasn't large enough in acreage. However, Stephen Mather (the first NPS director and...

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us. Petit Jean State Park does have a very interesting history and we work hard to preserve that past. There are many park interpretive programs here where pictures and stories are shared of how Petit Jean became Arkansas’s first State Park. There are also photos, historical sites and information...

Every once in a while, you stay in a place that's like a great dream. The Mather Lodge was that place for us on our recent trip. The room was relatively small, yes, but clean and incredibly comfortable. The air conditioner handled the 98 degree weather without a problem. The large grounds are incredible, with a sweeping mountain view of...

We wanted to visit this lodge once again as we were curious about the remodeling that was done. We were happy to see that the historic and rustic charm was retained. … We stayed on two weeknights in the off season, so our visit was definitely quiet. Our room, with two double beds, was spacious, clean, and included a coffee...

My wife and I stayed in one of the lodge rooms for our one year anniversary. The room was fairly small but we didnt spend much time in the room. The mattress was hard and pillows kinda small but that wasnt a big ordeal. Trails are absolutely beautiful! We went to cedar falls and will definitely be coming back...maybe try...

Thank you for your review of Mather Lodge. Mather Lodge at Petit Jean State Park is a historic site that was built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, also known as Roosevelt’s “Tree Army”. The rooms are smaller than most modern rooms, because of the era the lodge was constructed in. We hope that our guests take into consideration...

I fell in love with this historic piece of America. We stayed at the lodge for 5 nights. We never left the mountain. The first two nights we had a room with one bed at the lodge. I had been warned it was small, with a shower no tub. The room was comfortable with a pretty view. The next three...

We booked the very last room they had available, it was a queen bed. We weren't picky and we were happy to book a room at all two days before Easter weekend. It was clean, the staff was very friendly and we had a great time! The view from the lodge was gorgeous and perfect for watching the sunset. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
One of Arkansas's historic treasures, Mather Lodge at Petit Jean State Park, reopened on May 8 following a beautiful, and fitting, $4.3 million renovation. The renovation work replaced the lodge's 1960s-era dining room with a more rustic-style design, expanded the kitchen, added a 50-person room for meetings and small banquets, relocated the guest registration desk, enhanced the 24 guest rooms, and constructed a new lodge swimming pool. Public restrooms were added underneath the pool due to its proximity to Cedar Falls Trail, one of the park's most popular hiking trails. The renovation did not affect any of the lodge's original Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration work from the 1930s. Now the renovated portion mirrors the Adirondack-style park architecture of the 1930s' portions of this Arkansas treasure. ... more   less
