We used the hotel concierge to do cars/tours/boats of the Gilli Islands and waterfalls in the national park. We were told by other guests that we could have found these things for much less cost, but we felt the cost was fine for what we got, which was high service, nice drivers/guides, and not much to figure out on our own. The boat pickup was right on the beach in front of resort. Our 2 days of tours ran over the allotted time by an hour or two , but we were charged only at the booked rate. We loved the monkeys in monkey forest/highway. 100’s of monkeys.
Rainy season, and limited son but not much rain. That was all fine. Lower rates too.
Huge rooms and a great and large bathroom that you could live in. Don’t miss the charger plug-ins in the drawer in bed stand next to the bed, and note that the table/desk can be pulled away from the mirror to get better access to 3 plug-ins, at least in our room. The workers coil your charger cables each day. Nice touch. At first, we wasn’t sure what was going on. As the trip went on, we found out that most of the 5-star hotels do that.
My wife said the spa was incredibly nice. I biked with the free bikes. I wish some bikes had had higher handlebars (for older leisure riders), and bigger softer seats.
We enjoyed talking to the many workers and young people who worked there and were very friendly. They were very helpful too, and became almost friends.

We had booked a superb Luxury Garden view Villa with Pool, always so well maintained. Timeless and warm furniture, noble materials, they really don't look their age and there is always a lot of essential maintenance in the tropics and also improvements over the years. So the alang alang roof of our villa and the gazebo in the garden had just been redone and the sink and bath faucet were new and much more contemporary in style than the previous ones.
Always in the villa the bath products are of very good quality and smell so good. It’s also a huge plus that they are developed and manufactured on the neighboring island of Bali. We feel that the Oberoi is seriously concerned about its environmental responsibilities and devotes a lot of effort to it.
We received a lot of special attention during this stay, including a bottle of champagne and a fruit tart on our arrival. The shortcrust pastry was incredible, I didn't feel like I was in a little paradise island in Indonesia but rather in a very good Parisian pastry shop.
The bedding in the Villas and Pavillions is truly exceptional, whether it is the mattress, the bed sheets or the pillows that you can choose from a menu according to your preferences. Everyone is sure to find what they are looking for. It's been a long time since I slept so well.
The Oberoi Lombok gardens are huge (10 hectares) and beautifully maintained by many gardeners. Frangipani and bougainvillea offer very pretty touches of color in the middle of all this greenery.
During our stay we had fabulous massages at the spa, the setting is exceptional in a small private garden and the therapists are excellent.
The food is always very good, from breakfast to dessert at dinner. I loved the Royal Eggs Benedict and the Textures of Chocolate is hard to resist. We enjoy a very diverse menu (western, Indonesia and India). The club sandwich enjoyed by the pool was fantastic, beautiful pieces of chicken and so crispy bacon which makes the difference with almost all the other club sandwiches on the planet.
But what makes the difference with other luxury hotels is obviously the quality of the employees at The Oberoi Lombok. They make us feel really special during our stay, from the moment we are welcomed to the moment we leave. They are incredibly friendly, efficient and cheerful. They are always very responsive and do their best to respond to your requests as best they can. In the different teams there is this harmonious mix of more experienced employees who have become irreplaceable and whom regular guests of the Oberoi Lombok like me are delighted to find stay after stay and the younger ones who already have a solid background and who benefit demanding but caring supervision.
So what a joy to find Ibu Andini who served afternoon tea over 20 years ago, and who has now taken on responsibilities as restaurant supervisor, what a career and it is not the only one in this case. As for afternoon tea, it is always served in the same place and the pastries are always delicious. It is also a time for friendly exchanges with other hotel guests.
Now that our stay in this little corner of paradise is over, we can only hope that there will be another in the future, which I hope is not too distant.
The resort is located in a lush, immaculately groomed garden setting overlooking the Gili Islands. The buildings are designed with a Balinese influence with packed stone walls and thatched roofs. The facility has a very relaxing ambience.
We recently stayed for 10 nights in a Luxury Ocean View Villa with Pool. This choice was great as we had a huge outdoor area and cabana as well as the convenience of our own full-sized pool.
The service by the staff is very wam and friendly. In particular, I'd like to point out the friendly service of the outdoor attendant Harry, as well as the Food and Beverage Manager who anticipated our every requirement. On occasion, there were a few bits of confusion with the service caused with language difficulties, but these were invariably speedily and cheerfully resolved.
The only service wrinkle seems to be at the Front Desk when there was considerable confusion in making tour bookings or car transfers. There were instances of bookings apparently not being recorded, as well as some type of miscommunication between Reception and the Front Desk. My advice is not to rely on the spoken reassurance of the staff, make certain you confirm bookings by email or text.
The restaurant has an extensive menu consisting mainly of Indian, Indonesian and European cuisines. There is also a comprehensive wine and cocktail selection. The food quality is excellent and the serving staff are attentive. Similarly, the breakfast also has an extensive menu selection to suit all tastes and cultures.
Our package included breakfast and private car transfers to the airport. The latter is especially important as it's a 2 hour drive to and from the airport. We also joined the free Oberoi One program with the main benefit being a 10% reduction on food and beverage costs.
If you're looking for luxurious accommodation in somewhere other than Bali, the Oberoi Beach Resort Lombok is a great choice.
From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, we felt very comfortable. The entire staff was just perfect, whether it was reception, waiters, room service or gardeners (and everyone else), everyone made us feel at home with family and friends. When employees come to work early to say goodbye to us with tears in their eyes, you can see how much they love their job.
We're happy to come back.
There's only one word for the service: Excellent!
We were absolutely delighted with the service, no matter what area. What the whole team does here is fantastic. Thank you very much for that!
The food was a dream, there were just a few suggestions for improvements to the cooking times for fish and meat, but that's really complaining at a very high level. The Australian beef could have been a little bigger, especially since you have to pay extra for half board here.
We liked the wood carving with Ri Hamka best here, we learned a lot and are looking forward to implementing it at home.
A major point of criticism, however, was the beach club and the diving equipment offered there and the location. We had a conversation with the GM of the resort on the second to last day and they promised us that improvements would be made. Some of them have already been implemented, but unfortunately there is a lot to do there. There is a lot to do, from the diving suits to new regulators, fins, dive computers and the installation of a toilet. The team at the beach club was very helpful and had to do the best job possible with the things they had. Nevertheless, we are convinced that it would be a great advantage if the beach club were also run by the Oberoi itself, because then you have everything from a single source and quality control.

Absolutely best place in Lombok to stay , can’t wait to be back
A warm traditional welcome follows complete with a garland of flowers and a welcome drink and chocolate delicacy. Throughout our stay all the team were enormously friendly and helpful.
Rooms have spacious courtyards and balconies from which we had a wonderful view of the sea. The sunsets were spectacular and we were close enough to the local mosque to hear the call to prayer both early in the morning and throughout the day. Superbly chanted in a very reverent manner, this added much to the authenticity of the location.
Breakfast and lunch were served in the lower restaurant on the edge of the gardens close to the beach. Bar snacks are also available and a complimentary afternoon tea is served each day featuring snack-size local specialities. Dinner each evening had a different theme and an amazing effort was made by the team to make each evening special. We enjoyed an Indian buffet, a barbecue on the beach and an Indonesian buffet as well as more mainstream a la carte dining. Evenings in the main restaurant were also accompanied by live music ranging from the traditional, including dancing,
to an eclectic mix of well known songs ably presented by a good-humoured band that was deluged with requests from the guests.
Unfortunately we had a problem with the air conditioning in the room and had to move late one night. After we got the duty manager involved, the problem was resolved by arranging for us to enjoy a different room with private pool for our last two days. The traditional buildings and furnishings are part of the atmosphere but please don’t let the maintenance slip as high standards in all areas are a must for the seasoned traveller who expects polished service in all areas.
All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay and reaped the benefits of a super relaxed escape from the real world thanks to the beautiful location and dedicated staff team.
This fourth trip set aside Rinjani and focused instead on luxury and care on land and the exotic and beautiful beneath the waves. The Spa Treatments were exquisite, the food inventive and appropriate
in equal measure. I particularly enjoyed the Lamb cooked in the manner of a dish from Rajasthan.
The room was the perfect retreat.
This year Dimas led the team, charming fastidious and always responsive and he dealt with my more demanding requests very diplomatically. I asked for help beyond the Oberoi orbit in a very precise manner and I am very grateful for his acting as a conduit on my behalf.
In the evenings the Trio and Solo artist were as good as ever and I thoroughly enjoyed the beach bar be que. That the grill food was cooked real time made it much more than the usual bar be que fair.
Lee, my scuba buddy, was his usual phlegmatic self, few words but all the right ones. He had obviously text ahead to make sure the Turtles were there to greet us, such magic!
A special thank you to Joel, who drove me to the airport, through rain and a thousand and one motorcycles. I arrived in plenty of time to negotiate the various Scoot protocols, which ultimately were fine, but it was my first time returning to Singapore with them and I was a little anxious after their performance in Singapore, which was complicated and made little sense.
Thank you and Inshallah I look forward to next year.
The location was breathtaking and can only describe our stay there as sheer bliss . We were made feel very special by all staff . We will most certainly return to an oberoi hotel … a favourite from now on . Thank you .
All staff members are super friendly and helpful, it is really a pleasure being guest here. Talking about the staff, it is also great for me to listen to the employees and to learn that some of them are already here and working for more than a decade. E.g. Saha, one of the guys responsible for the housekeeping and arranging the rooms, was not only doing a great job, also supporting with additional info about the island, etc. but he told me that he is with the Oberoi for more than 15 years. This is fantastic to hear and shows both the devotion of the staff but also the appreciation from the management towards them.
