It's a mix of culture, wealth, and struggle. Wouldn't dare to go there without a local guide. If you do get one as perfect as we had, it's a great experience. The water was beautiful and warm with soft, leveled, shallow bottom. Some friendly locals, some only behave because law enforcement in civilian clothes are very much present. Music doesn't stop, and aroma of freshly fried fish fill the air. The vibe was everything here. However, narrow streets with few local road blocks is the only way to get here. Finding a parking spot is a challenge and not a cheap one (by local standards). There are many vacation rentals within walking distance, but I'm not confident in the safety of such a walk. Point of the story, have a local guide - many transportation companies offer this service. Do your research, be safe and enjoy!

The view and location are really fantastic. You are right next to all the big hotels but with much less guests. The rooms were very large, almost entire bungalows.
What's bad?
The room is cleaned every other day. While that's okay and written in the rules it's not okay to have to go after housekeeping every other day to make sure they do their job.
Also the boat guys are a real pain. There's a large group of boat trip sellers that seats right in front of the hotel, in front of the sea, destroying the beautiful view. They are constantly going after people trying to sell their trips. Yelling is constant. The hotel even allows them to come to your beach chair, which should be totally forbidden.
Also the boats that pass nearby with the loud music absolutely destroy the peaceful vibe. They could go enjoy themselves to some place far from the shore!
Another point that was sad for me, they charge you a deposit of $40 on the first day. Which seems to be against booking.com rules.
Finally, on the last day, we asked for late check-out but they still charged us $40 even though I switched from a room that was more expensive (Beachfront Villa Junior Suit) to one in the back which should by itself be enough to cover at least another night at the hotel.

The hotel is close to the beach, Alberto at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating with everything. They upgraded us to a junior suite which was very nice!!! However, you don't get any water like it says online, you also don't get any more toilet paper or shampoo except what is in the room when you check in, there was no cleaning of the rooms the whole time there and we never got new towels until the night before leaving. The restaurant/bar at the hotel was never open either so don't expect to be able have a cocktail or meals there.

Response from Grupo Dos, General Manager at Los Corales Beach Village

Sorry for the inconvenience. We make quick cleaning every 3 days and deep cleaning with change towels and linen each week. Now we have a beach bar and a pool bar running. At walking distance there is a pizzeria and another small restaurant. You can also have delivery on the beach. Best.

We were now the 8th. Mal in Los Corales Beach Village at Moonstar 1, and we travel very often. This complex is very nice with small beautiful villas. The garden is very well maintained and all staff are very concerned about the guests. It's not a hotel, it's Vacation rentals. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. If something does not work or is missing, then a short message is enough and immediately everything is fixed or brought over. - In all our stays we have always spent a wonderful time in this facility. We are mostly 4 - 8 weeks a year in the complex, and always enjoyed it. Massages at the spa/beach are also very good. - Staff are always helpful. The villas on the beach have a sensational view. Of course, if you think you are going to the Caribbean and then complain about insects, or rust somewhere or moisture, you may prefer to go to dry areas like the Sahel! We will be back soon, even if the Moonstar is demolished! Then we just go to another Villa! Greetings to all our dear people and friends at Los Corales Beach Village. Michaela

Though in a lovely setting right on the beach, the theme of our stay here was No.
Whether it's another tiny bottle of hand soap for the bathroom (no) or a room clean sooner than every three full days (which means the day you arrive does not count) the answer is No (though they're friendly about it.) No hot water in the shower of our 2BR, no microwave in the very minimal kitchenette, no door on the mini freezer (size of a box of crackers) inside the mini-fridge (so the ice you wanted for your drink--that's a no.) No working lights in the main room (tho they did fix this after we asked three times.) No phone to call 'reception,' you have to go wait on a line of people complaining in a variety of languages to get your personal No. No late checkout (we were happy to pay for an extra hour but they were banging at the door precisely at 11am)
Also no refund for the first night that we missed due to a flight cancellation. I wasn't thinking that would happen...but it would have been nice.
That said, if you choose to go despite the No, read on:
The pool was very pretty and clean. The beach is beautiful and clean. The people who work here are pleasant (although not helpful.) Bring your own dish soap and a sponge, paper towels and paper plates/cups. If you use the stove know you have to ask them for matches in order for it to work. Bring ear plugs (or Ambien) because there is very loud music starting at 9pm next door.
Go to Toc and Soles for lunch on the beach (takes forever but most places do and they are both lovely.) Don't go to Zoho Beach Club to eat (it's really pretty. Don't be fooled, the food and service are terrible.) Go to Citrus for dinner, Pranama for not bad Indian, Unagui for great service and sushi.
Though I will skip these 'villas' for future trips, a return to Punta Cana and the DR is a Yes

There weren’t basic things like paper towels, coffee hand soap or bath or floor mats.the second bathroom faucet had no water but a trickle. The room flooded on our third night and the reception offered nothing in compensation. There was no washing machine or laundry mat to wash clothes. . There was no way to wash your clothes. No iron no anything. Terrible place. The only saving grace is that it was literally in the beach. That was it. This place it was a dump.

The location of the place is good because it’s just a min walk from the beach and theres a pool & a lot of restaurants nearby . But the place needs some renovation they dont have microwave or stove and especially there ceiling fans has rust and also the ceiling fan in the bedroom is not safe they put it on top of the bed but the bedroom has a low ceiling. I had an emergency because i hurt myself in the ceiling fan me and my partner went to the reception but its closed they have security but he doesn’t speak English he was just looking at us the whole time so its 0% help. They don’t even have first aid kit to help us. I wouldn’t recommend this place especially to those travelling with their families.

We (family of 4, two adults and 2 teen kids) booked a two night stay at this place, and it definitely was a very big mistake!
The room was in dire need of repairs. There were nails sticking out the side of the living room sofa beds (my daughter cut herself with one), stains on curtains and inside the drawers, handles missing from the closet doors with just the screws left over. The bottom of the fridge door was completely rusty. The toilet paper in the bathroom was hanging from a rope, and as cherry on the top, there was even a cockroach near the sink.
Moreover, the sofa beds were with no bedding for the kids.
There were only two shower towels in the room, and only one mini bottle of shower gel and shampoo. For 4 people.
We asked for more towels, and were never delivered.
The place is in a nice position, absolutely, but all the rest is a total disgrace

Dear guest, all our units are provided with wall soap dispensers. Therefore you weren't hosted by us but by another property manager who unfortunately is offering a very bad service. We are very sorry for your experience and we invite you next time to book with us directly.

Los Corales Beach Village is set in a picturesque location, bored by an absolutely amazing beach. The accomodation is modest. It would be great if the rooms can be given a face lift in the near future. The staff at the reception was accomodating and responsive to my requests for information and assistance.
Overall good stay. Enjoyed the mostly quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

This place is too nice on the outside and it doesn’t match the inside. The staff is rude, the wifi doesn’t work, in a week my room was cleaned once and my shower head disconnected. It’s walking distance to expensive restaurants and souvenir shops. Don’t expect any attention from anyone or the TV to work. Spend the extra $50 for a place worthy of your vacation.

Bicycle rental I haven’t seen around at all and it was pretty empty lots of things still closed up but some restaurants and supermarkets were good to go! Try “Foodies Truck” it’s great!! And close
Great questions. So my apartment was clean when I checked in and they stated they cleaned every other day so make sure to square that away before you come and during check in. The pool area is at the front and is an ice open area and I watched them clean the pool a few times during my week stay. There was no restaurant and bar when I was there, perhaps I missed it? So must be closed. I had 1 time I couldn’t get hot water but that’s common even had that happen at resorts I stayed at too.! I think there is a slight smell but nothing overwhelming and you should not drink it anyway!! But I have heard of really bad smells the place I stayed Moonstar #2 was amazing and not much smell I could detect. Hope this helps you can message me directly for any further questions!! Have fun and be safe!!
Hi Deborah,
did you already book the place? I don't know exactly what are your expectations and what are the reviews that makes you nervous, but I suggest you not worry too much, just enjoy the place, the beach, excursions etc.

We stayed at a condo owned by Pat Fahey. it was absolutely wonderful. we usually go all inclusive this was our first trip, there was 6 of us and we split everything. the beach was close the stores and restaurants are close and it was very homey and comfortable. Pat was very accommodating to any questions or concerns we had. we had a huge deck with fans, table and chairs and wicker furniture, it was so nice to visit among ourselves. hope this helps you.
