Reviews summary

Powered by AI
The Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites, All Inclusive Resort & Spa is celebrated for its prime beachfront location and convenience to the airport. Guests have praised the resort for its extensive amenities, including a beautiful beach and multiple dining options. However, opinions are divided when it comes to room quality, with several travelers reporting outdated and poorly maintained accommodations.
The service at the resort receives mixed reviews, with some staff members being commended for their friendliness while others are noted for lackluster responsiveness. The value proposition is a point of contention, as some guests feel the experience does not justify the cost, particularly due to issues with food quality and overpriced services. Despite the inconsistencies, many visitors enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and entertainment offerings, although a few find the music excessively loud and the decor in need of an update.

Detailed Reviews
Honestly I was worried about going after reading some other reviews but we could not be more impressed with our stay here! We were given an upgrade to our room and it was stunning, the room was spotless and apart from one day with low water pressure we had no issues, our mini bar was stocked every day and we were in the perfect location right beside the beach, the place is huge but is easy enough to get around with the on-site train and buggies, the longest we ever had to wait was 5 minutes. The a la carte restaurants were great especially the Tepenyaki, I would say it is probably best to book through guest services as the availability for reservations on the app was limited at times. The beach was spotless and all the seaweed was cleared early every morning, getting up to watch the sunrise on the beach is a must! The pool was clean and the swim up bar very rarely had a wait even when it was busy, the staff were all excellent and really friendly! We honestly could not fault anything and will hopefully be back next year.

This is a really nice resort, but huge. It took us awhile to get a 'feel' of the place and at first we used the carts, there are many, that continually drove around the grounds to get around. Once we became well acquainted with the hotel grounds we walked everywhere. We had a patio suite with a view of the ocean and a small pool off the patio. The pool was well maintained. Our room was fantastic but be aware, the bathroom, has an open feel. Although there was a door on the toilet, it had a frosted glass on it and you could easily see through the glass.
The outside grounds are well maintained. The ocean was great with large waves and a wonderful shade of blue. The maintenance in the public washrooms (near the pools) needs to be reviewed by the management. The washrooms were not cleaned enough and we never saw a clean public washroom during our entire trip. We were there a week. We just walked back to our suite whenever we needed to use one.
The buffet food was excellent. There was an issue with some of the food not being cold enough. The yogurt was nearly always warm. There are many restaurants on the ground but you need to book ahead for them.
Overall, an excellent stay. The staff were amazing and if you needed something you only needed to ask anyone working there and they would make sure you found what you needed.
The resort appears to be going through a renovation. We saw quite a bit of construction while there.
We hope to return.

Dear clf51, We sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your experience at Grand Palladium Bávaro Suites Resort & Spa and are pleased to hear that your stay was, overall, excellent. It is gratifying to know that you enjoyed your ocean view suite as well as our facilities and gardens. The description of your experience reflects the type of connection we seek to generate with our guests, allowing them to explore and feel comfortable in every corner of the resort. We take note of your observations regarding the design of the bathroom in your suite. We also appreciate your comments about the public bathrooms near the pools and regret that their maintenance has not met your expectations. We will review these aspects with our management team to ensure that these areas are always in optimal condition for use. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed our gastronomic offer, both at the buffet and at the specialty restaurants. It is very encouraging to know that you felt well attended to by our staff and that any request you had was resolved with care. Our team works hard to offer a friendly and attentive service, and we are proud that this has been reflected during your stay. It will be an honor to welcome you again in the future and offer you a stay equal to or better than the last. Sincerely, D. Cruz Hospitality Advisor

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
This was an amazing holiday. We spent two weeks at the hotel and had three suites for our group. The communication prior to arrival was very good and the hotel accommodated our request to have our rooms together, advance booking of a la carte restaurants etc.
The site is large, covered by three separate hotels, although it is pretty seamless and we used most facilities. It can be a bit of a walk to get to places and hit and miss with trains, but they do now have boards in the lobbies which show in real time when the next train is due and also there are golf carts which you can flag down. It isn't actually that far to get anywhere, with many covered walkways, the biggest issue is the heat if you are not used to it, rather than the distance. There are so many pools with bars and the beach that it's never too far to cool off.
There are a lot of bars and restaurants however they are open at different times so it is not too overwhelming. The level of service differed depending on who served you and at which venue however overall we found the food and drink to be of a good standard and plentiful. We were really spoiled for choice and, even after 2 weeks, were not bored. Unlike other hotels, there was never an issue securing a table, or booking a la carte restaurants etc. We managed to try all the main restaurants.
The suites are a little dated but spacious and comfortable, with two out of three of our suites had very good air con, with the third being okay. Maid service and mini fridge refill was daily and very reliable.
The beach was fantastic, picturesque with warm and clean water and never any issues finding sunbeds etc. There are four beach front bars and a couple of snack places and a restaurant so everything is well catered for. There was plenty to do with kayaking etc and staff were very accommodating. There are a few comments on here about seaweed - we went every day for two weeks at different times of the day and there was never an issue. There were small patches of seaweed like on any beach and if there had been a storm then the water might be a little churned up but definitely no where near the issue some people have made it out to be.

Our stay was not good and I would never return to this hotel. The only saving grace for this resort was the al la carte dinners and the nice beach, otherwise it would get 1 or 2 stars.
Room
Room 1848 rooftop terrace suite was awful with broken lights the entire week, despite numerous calls. While some mentioned a motion detector that caused the lights to turn off after a few hours, ours turned off after 1 minute of no movement. This means if you’re not waving your arms a few feet in front of the sensors, everything shuts off. Our lights went off while on the toilet, while showering, trying to to get ready, watching tv. It’s worst when you’re in the room alone and trying to use the bathroom. We had to make sure to have our phone for flashlight access at all times. At night the ac/fans went out so we were sweating all night. On day 5 they did at least fix it so that the ac didn’t shut off, but the lights continued to shut off all day.
Food
The buffet food at dinner the first night was awful to the point I was considering trying to checkout the following day to find a different resort. You do need to make reservations for the restaurants, but the app says nothing is available. I visited guest services the next morning and was able to get reservations for our group of 7 people for every night. Best $40 spent to tip the worker and make sure we had good dinners the rest of our stay.
Trolleys
The 3 resorts are walkable, maybe 10 minutes from one end to the other once you know which paths to take. However, if you have older people in your group requiring you to wait for the trolleys, expect to be waiting a while, especially if the trolleys are already full when they come around, which was most of the time. Tip the concierge a few bucks to order you a private cart. Worth the money to not have to wait, and our trip improved once we figured this out.
Beach/pool
The beach is great, they do a good job keeping it clean and we could always find chairs even late morning/afternoon. No beach service, you must walk to the bars.
The pools do get busier, but did appear to have at least some open chairs throughout the day. While some people were saving chairs, I didn’t see it as bad as other resorts where chairs are gone before 7am. The pool water was pretty dirty the days we went on a Friday/Saturday, even early in the morning before people really started getting in for the day. Water was cloudy with a lot of bird poop floating around.
Staff
Most staff are good but some just don’t appear to care. We are used to visiting Cancun annually where the workers really appreciate your tips and bend over backwards to take care of you once they know you’re a tipper. Here the attitude is much different. Service is slow at the bars, but since most people are not tipping, you can’t blame the workers. That wouldn’t make me work any harder either. Dinners were very slow, but it looked like it was due to being short staffed more than anything. Our group left $15-20 tip every dinner, so perhaps tipping up front would have helped speed up service.

Dear Boozybelle, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations and that there were several issues that affected your overall experience. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lighting system and air conditioning in your room. This is certainly not the level of comfort we strive to provide, and we are reviewing this situation to ensure better maintenance and functionality in our accommodations going forward. We're also sorry to hear that the food quality at the buffet did not meet your standards on the first night. We're glad to hear, however, that the à la carte dinners and the beach helped improve your stay. We appreciate your suggestion regarding the reservation system and will work on improving the app's functionality to make it easier for guests to make restaurant bookings. Regarding the trolley service, we understand how frustrating waiting for transport can be, especially when traveling with a group. We're pleased to hear that you found a solution by working with the concierge for a private cart, and we'll ensure that this information is made more accessible for future guests. We're also disappointed to hear that the pool area wasn't up to standard during your visit and that the water cleanliness was an issue. We take this feedback seriously and will review the maintenance and cleaning schedules for our pools. In terms of service, we sincerely apologize for the slow response times you encountered, particularly at the bars and during dinner. We will address this with our staff and management to ensure that guests receive timely and attentive service throughout their stay. We appreciate your understanding and continued tipping efforts and will work to improve the overall guest experience for everyone. Once again, we are truly sorry that your stay fell short of your expectations. We greatly value your feedback, as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future to offer you a much better experience. Warm regards, Y. Jiménez Hospitality Sr. Advisor

The hotel has many good things, great location near Punta Cana airport, be able to use the facilities of the other hotels of the resort, the pools, the beach, the gardens, transportation within the hotel, the bars, live music, activities,...
But it also has great buts. The main one is the attitude of the staff. You can find wonderful and efficient people (and my standards are low), but most, especially in the dining rooms, seem to even annoy. Slow, inefficient and even angry-looking. Either tip ahead or forget about getting a glass of water in the dining room or coffee at breakfast. Not all of us are equal in attention, even our compatriots come out worse. And it’s not because they’re busy, as there are plenty of staff, but it’s inefficient and the desire to work shines through their absence.
Another big problem is membership. They're trying to sell you some kind of club vip for their hotels, even if you don't get on the Listing that would make a profit. The bad thing is not that they sell it, but that you waste a lot of hours while they try, when you want to go sunbathing or bathing in the pool. Very scarce and unworthy in the proceeding of a 5 star hotel.
The Dinner Reservation service in the app is insufferable. My advice, go to reception and be asked by them. Because if not, you will end up with reservations in restaurants that do not open, despite the fact that on the web it keeps saying that if it is open or that you do not find availability, when the restaurant is empty.
The rooms are old, need a face wash, although I already knew this from other comments.
In short, yes but no, don’t expect an idyllic hotel, or even correct attention, but the beach and resort facilities will make your stay pleasant.

First, recognize Anyery in the Mini Club, she was amazing with our son, fully recommend her, she even babysits and you can trust her. Rest of the stay horrible, Room 1817 full of mold, we ended up all sick with respiratory issues due to the humidity and mold in the room, even kid in hospital overnight. AC leaking from ceiling noone fixed, fridge not working, noone fixed. Personnel attention, customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. If you want a table set for breakfast or lunch, you need to tip someone to get it done, otherwise if you ask for silverware they bring you just that, no napkin, no glasses, and then you need to start asking for the rest, there's no proactiveness in the people working there, no efficiency, customer is a nuissance and not someone to attend to. They clearly lack good management or they are way underpay and overworked. This is not my first time in Punta Cana, experience before (other resort ) was one of the best. The beach is really good and the pool is nice. Food is not bad.

This place is a mixed bag. We loved the old-school expansive layout of the place where the rooms are located in spaced out villas (and not in a singular high rise). Lush landscaping makes for a delightful walk. The walkways are covered and it makes it easier to walk back and forth to lobby during rain. Lobbies (Palace and Punta Cana included) are decent. Night shows are above average. The beach is exceptional. This is where the good stuff ends….
Room are disgusting (at least in the Bavaro part)- electrical sockets are falling apart, uncomfortable beds, dodgy a/c, rickety furniture and dull lighting. Lots of humidity in rooms will make ur clothes smell. Shower stall was literally buckling. We lost power within 30 min of getting in the room followed by a/c issues. You will need to tap ur room card 4-5 times before the door unlocks. This is a huge property with only 3 medium sized pools (not counting TRS). Pools themselves are shabby, debris in water and there and there are big chunks of tiles missing. Palace/Punta Cana pools were marginally better then Bavaro. Food is below par- Buffet needs some serious rescue. La carte were better (La Lola was our fav). Beware that the resort will be slammed on weekends with locals checking in.
We are hoping that Bavaro property will be more upscale and better managed after the 2025 renos. For those who have already booked, keep your expectations low.

Dear Shentyc, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the expansive layout of the property, the lush landscaping, and the beach. It’s great to know that you found the night shows above average and appreciated the covered walkways for easy access, especially during rainy weather. However, we sincerely regret that your experience in the Bavaro section did not meet expectations. Your comments regarding the condition of the room and facilities are concerning, and we apologize for the discomfort you experienced. We will certainly address the issues you've raised with our maintenance team to ensure that we offer a higher level of comfort for all our guests. Your comments on the food quality and pool maintenance will also be shared with the relevant teams. We appreciate your input and are committed to improving the overall experience for future guests. We hope you give us another opportunity after our renovations are complete in 2025, and we will strive to provide a more enjoyable stay. Thank you once again for sharing your experience. Sincerely, Y. Jiménez Hospitality Advisor Palladium Hotel Group

Absolutely everything they do they do wrong. I requested a room on the first floor, I got one on the second. I ordered a crib, they left me a broken crib, only at 10 o'clock at night they deigned to leave me one in good condition. Showers are lousy. On the web they indicate that they have sterilizers for babies, when you arrive or even know what it is. The room indicates that it has a bathrobe and slippers, just right there are towels. In restaurants they never offer you drinks, they only serve you water. The staff who serve you the food seems to be in a bad mood why they won't answer you. Ice machines aren't working. Internal transport drivers look like they want to run over guests. Everyone asks you for money for anything to help you. The front desk has a phone, they never answer and if you go you find them with their cell phone in hand laughing with know who. In total it is the worst experience and it is only my first night.

Pros
Beautiful place, well meticulously landscaped, entertainment staff was wonderful and pool side waiters and bar tenders were on point. Resort is huge but the availability of carts and personal to take you places are plentiful. Plenty of food options if you can’t get a reservation which is difficult.
Cons
Told us we could upgrade to a swim out room at a discounted rate and when we tried to pay said someone else already booked it. Then tried to tell us there was another option for 3 days at full price. Took us to our room which was not ready as housekeeping was still cleaning and told us to go upstairs in the rooftop jacuzzi area in the heat to wait while they finished. After 40 minutes they came and got use to say room had an issue and needed to switch us. Housekeeping accidentally took my daughters blanket while cleaning (accidents happen I get that) for 2 days we made multiple attempts to get it back even at checkout to no avail but as soon as I landed in the USA I had an email saying they found it and would ship it back for $88USD. Ridiculous. Also no staff servicing the swim out pools. Used the app to order room service 4 times and only once did the food arrive after we called on landline to find out where it was.

The shower was broken, we warned since we arrived and they did not solve the whole stay (5 star hotel, never seen). We didn't have 2 beds, the same, we warned and ignored. The frigo bar replenished it with what was left in stock at the time of going to the room, so if you were among the first, they left you drinks, chips and chocolates, if they left you xa the end, hopefully they left you drinks. When they went to replenish the soap, they left the spare part on a table so that we could change it in the artifacts of the shower. The truth is a mess. We came from a 10 point experience in Playa del Carmen and were very disappointed here. In general there is not very good willingness to give a good service
