Nestled close to a beach, the Barcelo Bavaro Palace All Inclusive Resort offers a lively atmosphere and an array of entertainment options that guests find appealing. However, some visitors have called attention to the less than warm service and a pervasive sense of unwelcomeness. Despite the spaciousness of rooms, critiques often focus on their dated decor and cleanliness shortcomings.
The resort's location garners praise, but the value is frequently questioned due to perceived overpriced services and subpar food quality. While the grounds receive commendations for their upkeep, service and amenity inconsistencies mar the overall experience.

Detailed Reviews
Very with our 3 generation holiday. Grand kids ages 1,3,5,7 enjoyed the safe beach, and the kids pool (appropriate for kids up to about 8 or 9) Pools were clean, beach is protected by barrier reef about 300 yards off shore. On really calm days we found interesting snorkelling with multiple green turtles feeding in clumps of grass inside the bouyed swimming area. Access to hobie cats, sup board, kayaks and peddleboards was easy and safe.
Family rooms worked well with location adjacent to the kids slide pool, king size bedroom separated from second bedroom that had 2 large single beds ( at the expense of no additional living space} Wrist band opens your door!
we had no bad meals, no problems making reservations with specialty restaurants ( we were NOT booked at premium level service)

Response from Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Barcelo Bavaro Palace All Inclusive Resort
Responded 26 Nov 2024
Dear Sir, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted that your family, spanning three generations, thoroughly enjoyed the safe beach, our clean pools, and the engaging activities such as snorkeling where the green turtles became a highlight, as well as the use of hobie cats, sup boards, kayaks, and peddleboards. It's fantastic that the family rooms provided a comfortable and convenient experience, and the wristband door access added to the ease of your stay. It is great that the dining experiences met your expectations across our specialty restaurants without the need for Premium Level booking. Our aim is to create memorable experiences through our diverse culinary offerings and personalized service. Your commendation is greatly appreciated and will be shared with our dedicated team. We hope we will have the opportunity to see you again in the future. Best regards, César GüÃlamo Montilla Director Barceló Bávaro Palace

Barceló is located on Bávaro beach, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Punta Cana. It's really beautiful, full of coconut trees that end up serving as parasols.
The hotel itself has a very good structure. It has everything, many restaurants, several bars, free towels to use on the beach and pool (several pools, including one for adults only), many attractions for children, bowling, casino, nightclub, shops, golf course, theater, gym , tennis courts, spa, etc. There's even a pharmacy.
The rooms in general are spacious and the wi-fi works very well.
Service needs to be improved: in general, it is normal (very rarely friendly) but it is also quite common to be unfriendly and grumpy. Spanish is almost incomprehensible even to those from Spain, Argentina, etc., and English is terrible. Communication is often by mimicry.
About the restaurants: in general, the food is not good. I understand that feeding around 5000 people at once is not easy, but they could do a little more. The Miramar and Bohio Dominicano restaurants are practically one, and close to the beach. They are the ones that practically everyone goes to. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, which are always good (even the pizza and ice cream are bad). The others generally open for dinner and require a reservation. It's really worth it, as the quality is much better. They are themed – Mexican, Spanish (great), Japanese, etc. French is paid separately. To book, go to the Concierge next to the check-in desk on the first or second day and reserve the 4 possible nights (it fills up quickly). If one is full, book another – just don't make the mistake of eating at Miramar for dinner too (one bad meal is enough, which will be lunch). A restaurant a little less worse than the bandejão is Hoyo 19, next to the golf course. A positive point is that the menus are also in Portuguese.
The hotel offers a paid transfer to/from Punta Cana international airport (I don't know if it does the same for Santo Domingo airport). Anyway, the price is a little more expensive than other places that offer the same service. It's worth researching.
Don't forget to bring change in dollars (1 or 2 dollars, coins or notes) for tips. For the transfer driver, the employee who takes or holds the bags, on the trip to Saona Island (or any other trip), there is a tip everywhere.
A good surprise is at check-out. My flight was at 23:00; I had to leave my room at noon, but you can stay at the hotel and do everything they offer. All you need to do is put your bags away and then you can go to the gym, the spa, the casino, the beach/pool (just grab a towel and then shower in the locker room) and, best of all, eat at the restaurants, to your heart's content. , as if you were staying. There is also the possibility of late check-out, until 5pm, for 60 dollars.

We stayed at this hotel from October 6 to 8. We chose the Premium Level and were sooooo happy with our choice! As soon as we arrived
On the territory of this hotel we plunged into a fairy tale where our magical vacation began.... Everything is very beautiful and well-maintained. A very, very landscaped area where everything works like clockwork. We were given a room on the first line, on the third floor with an incredibly beautiful view of the gorgeous snow-white beach with coconut palms.
There are places to take a walk in the evening, breathe the ocean air, and many bars where you can have a snack during the day and evening. Large and very clean swimming pools. The beach is clean sand, cleaned several times a day, there are many sun loungers and very comfortable.
Fun entertainment programs during the day and evening, many sports grounds, sauna, SPA treatments.
The animators are just sweethearts, always smiling and eternally positive.
The food is excellent: a wide choice of food: a variety of fruits, many meat and fish delicacies, a large selection of dishes for children.
There are a lot of a la carte restaurants: I really liked the Italian and Japanese restaurants (tasty, elegant, beautifully served).
There are many questions about what and where to buy. Definitely go to the factory!!!
They take you to factories for free. There are consultants and tastings.
We went on excursions, visited Saona and Santo Domingo. We took excellent excursions from Julia Olonen; in the search you can immediately find her on the first page.
They pick you up from the hotel in the morning, deliver you in the afternoon or evening, you don’t need to get anywhere yourself. By the way, Julia also provided us with a transfer to the store. At the factory, I advise you to look for alcohol and cigars as a gift to take home, if you do not buy at the hotel, it is inexpensive, take into account the restrictions on the transport of alcohol, ladies will like Dominican cosmetics.
The hotel is just super! We'll come back again and again. It’s an immense territory, whether you want to walk or take the train, you can’t get around the golf course, there are flamingos there. The food is super, a lot of a la carte restaurants!

If you value your money, time and sanity, do not stay in this hotel under any circumstances. I wouldn't stay again even if it was free. The food was tasteless and horrible almost everywhere. The Miramar and Bohio restaurants which are buffets were so dirty. The silverware was dirty, the drinking glasses were dirty and the floor was very slippery all the time (I saw two people falling to the floor because of that). The waiters took too long to serve any beverage to the table. There was always a problem with the ice or the soda machine. More times than acceptable I had to sit down at tables that had no silverware, drinking glasses or napkins and 90% of the times the silverware was dirty. The steak restaurant was also very dirty and the food and service wasn't good. The sports bar was the worst sports bar I've been in my life. It had a horrible smell, was dirty, the food trays were not refilled in a timely manner. I had to wait more than 15 minutes to get anything from the buffet because at one time more than 50% of the meat trays weren't refilled. I only ate there once and after that I preferred to starve before going to the sports bar again. The only good restaurant in all the resort was the Spanish one (La Fuente). The food was amazing and the service was incredible. That's the only good place in all Bavaro Palace. The disco played the same music play list every single night so it's not worth going there more than once. The bar staff at the casino were amazing. My room was so so dirty. Everything had fingerprints which meant the room wasn't cleaned. My bathroom was dirty with blood from a previous guest and when I called room service the first time they didn't clean that, they just changed the towels and made the bed. I had to personally go to the front desk to report the issue and demand to have it cleaned. If they don't clean the bathroom with basic sanitization measures, what assures me they'll give me clean towels or that they even change the sheets. The pillows in the room sofa had MOLD. Almost every towel was stained and even the pillow cases were stained. This hotel has ZERO hygiene protocols for anything.

It was an incredible experience... my husband and I were there, 8 days and 7 nights... the treatment was very good although there are several things that need to be improved to make everything better.
Good things;
La Fuente Restaurant, which is Spanish food, was delicious to the point that we visited it twice... the paella is exquisite, there I want to highlight the excellent treatment of Mr. Manuel Valenzuela and Ms. Loren Castillo... a thousand grs for his service... that hotel needs more people like you!!
Another of the restaurants that we loved was Hoyo 19, there you have to try the delicious breaded brisket... the food in general was very good and varied, the Bohio buffet restaurant was very delicious...
We also want to highlight at the Cielo pool (adults only) the boy who made our days... we laughed a lot with him... Young Christopher De Jesus... and at night in the theater area... thank you boy for being so humble.. in the pool area the sky was also a super friendly and helpful girl Julia Diaz, the two of them treated us super well.. when you go visit them you won't regret it.. the guys at the Carey bar were also very friendly. The gardens are super well maintained.
The nightclub and the casino are very good.. overall excellent..
Now... what needs to improve;
1. The main pool needs maintenance, it was full of beach sand and the edge where the water level reaches had a lot of dirt accumulated and that leaves a lot to be desired.
2. In the buffet area they should better organize the staff into sections so that they can provide better service, because they passed you by and did not serve you, you had to get up to get the drinks yourself.
3. I stayed in room 6109, the first day the air was not working, we called and they fixed it but it made an uncomfortable noise to rest in, we told the waitress to use the broom before using the map because there was sand on the floor. We tried to use the jacuzzi and when we turned it on and added the bubble liquid, foam began to come out with the dirty meaning that it had not been cleaned, so we gave up and for the next 4 days we saw the foam pot empty and the chairs in the same place. . meaning that they never cleaned the jacuzzi or the balcony... we never complained because going on vacation means not being angry... let it be noted that every day we leave a tip to the person who cleaned our room...
If they improve those things... it would be the PERFECT place!!

Overall I liked it. It's like a mini-city, there's everything. Positive things: the beach is irreplaceable, there are no waves, clean water and small fish on the shore. Rich and varied food. I recommend ribs and snack bar chicken. There is gym, football court, I was able to play sports although it was hot. Huge pool, there's fun.
Negative things: the rooms, hot tub had a leak as in the put there was always a pool of water that percent of the staff never cleaned. The hot tub water was yellow, I dared not use it. There are no doors in the room: no shower. The bathroom had a matte sliding glass door that served no purpose. Those long pillows are uncomfortable. And the worst and most irritating thing was that the light automatically came on in the hallway when I went to the bathroom. And the switch was by the bed. In the night the whole family woke up. And there's no option to pay for it in full if you don't want it to catch on. I don't know who the genius was, but lousy idea. In our experience in several hotels, restaurants are always disappointing and here was no exception. The Japanese restaurant does not have air conditioning, they make you sit around a hot grill with several people and all die of heat. They do a food preparation show, but nothing otherworldly, it's rice and vegetables. When you already have that little bandage you don't want it anymore, because of the heat. Every restaurant keeps you waiting a lot of time to enter and again the same thing: you die of heat waiting. Anyway: the buffet and snack bar is the best option. I would return alone by the beautiful beach. The rest is bearable, but no better.

I've never really had such a bad time in a hotel.
I made the relevant complaints at reception and at Guest Service without any solution.
I will list the problems:
We arrived and the room was very dirty, with a lot of smell of urine in the bathroom q to this day does not go the smell. In turn above the shower there is moisture.
A few days ago we arrived from the beach and the room door is fully open. To which the lady told us to clean up q excuse me q would not happen.
On the third day I found the replenisher who replenishes the drinks lying on our double bed.
Several times we were enabled and we are not left with towels, we bathed 4 people with a single towel, when we complained and brought the towel, the person who brought them treated us very badly and told us that it was not their fault.
Coffee machines never work at breakfast or collapse and you can never have a coffee in time.
The ramp you pass through the sports bar has a tremendous sewer smell.
We found a dead cockroach in the Dominican BohÃo at lunchtime and no employee wanted to pick it up.
And the employees very but my bad gestations, home time you ask something very bad.
The only good thing I have to say is Orlando the Manager of the buffets that once everything was so crowded that we had no place for dinner and we are with my parents who are older adults, he was able to give us a solution and located us in a restaurant. He's the only one who cares about guests.
Unfortunate I do not think we will return to the chain barceló and that we are to frequent it but this experience surpasses everything.

Unfortunate I do not think we will return to the chain barceló and that we are to frequent it but this experience surpasses everything.

The hotel has good facilities, exceptional rooms, comfortable, spacious, with an incredible view. A wide variety of restaurants for all tastes, the buffet for breakfast and lunch, very varied, very tasteful food. The location of the insurmountable hotel, the beach always maintained, clean it daily from the sargassum, therefore you can enjoy the beach and the sea without problems. Just a detail to improve, the check in process, the very dissident and evasive staff. But despite this detail, the hotel is 100% recommended.

This is my fourth time visiting this majestic hotel. As a facility it is very beautiful and the types of rooms they have are very convenient for large families like mine since they have 2 separate rooms with a door in the same room. In addition to those for couples and all with a jacuzzi outside on the terrace. I stayed at the hotel for 13 days from 02/19/24 to 03/03/24. Due to my multiple visits to the different Barcelo complexes I have the Unique benefits. This category provides some extra discounts, including the Premium service. This is achieved by making reservations directly on the Barcelo website. In 2022 we decided to become a member of the Barcelo Club, which seemed like an excellent idea to plan our family vacations. I want to thank Lusmary and Wilson from Club Barcelo for their attention and dedication from check-in to the end of our stay. He always looked for a way to make us feel special guests. I want to mention other excellent workers at this hotel who deserve a 5-star rating and do not deserve to have their hard work overshadowed by others who do not do the same, especially at the Buffet. Thanks to the waiter Rene from the Spanish restaurant for his professionalism, to Carlos Consepción from the Frances restaurant, to Sandra, Junior and Rosmery from the Coral restaurant at lunch time they made our afternoons special. The girls who work at the Barcy Club are very affectionate and attentive to the children, my child enjoyed it very much. I want to highlight the treatment received and the best drinks and cocktails prepared by the bartender Yineysi in the smoking area of the casino, thank you for making my vacation special. The aspects to improve are the cleaning of the rooms must be more thorough when the rooms are going to be handed over to new guests, especially in the bathrooms, the sofa cushions, the verification of the perfect functioning of the electrical and battery equipment such as The TV, fans, weight and safe are a point. In addition, the service at the buffet is from bad to worse with very slow and inexperienced guys with the exception of a lady who really does try to have good service, what happens is that it is only one and it doesn't give much I really don't remember its name, another important point is the air conditioning in almost the entire hotel is poor, the temperature only felt pleasant in the French restaurant. I really hope that these problems are solved for our next visit because this Hotel is truly a very nice facility with spectacular vegetation. We spent valuable time on this constructive criticism because we really like this hotel and we would like these problems to not persist.

The property is huge and some areas in dire need of improvement and maintenance. Room A/C barely cooled the room at its lowest setting, the ceiling fan helped. Mini fridge did not work, toilet flushing issues. Walls and ceilings needed a deep cleaning to remove spills and cobwebs. Buffet food average with main issue being temperature and lack of flavor. You won’t go hungry just feel there was a lot of waste due to the fact people disliked the food. Specially restaurants same issue as buffet. Only exception was the Japanese teppayanki where your main course was served hot, the apps were served lukewarm and not hot as they should have. Service is average. Issue is staff overall attitude, lots are borderline rude. Sometimes you’ll come across one that will return a smile. We tipped them regardless and always treated them well. Location is great, beach and pools are very nice, powder soft sand, calm water with little to no waves due to a reef nearby which protects the area, water was not clear as I remember years back but it may have been due to weather and currents. There’s lots to do for all ages. Entertainment team was good.
Overall facility needs some TLC.
Would not return unless I found a screaming deal I could not pass.

Responded 21 Nov 2024
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay, including the room A/C, mini fridge, and toilet. We understand how these aspects can impact the comfort of your stay, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Moreover, we regret that the cleanliness of the room did not meet our usual high standards, and we acknowledge your feedback regarding the food temperature and quality at our buffet. Finally, we apologize if the service provided by our team did not live up to your expectations, as we strive to deliver an exceptional experience to all our guests. We are pleased that you enjoyed the Japanese teppanyaki at our specialty restaurant and were able to appreciate the prime location of our resort. It is great to know that our beach and pools, complete with powder-soft sand and calm waters, contributed positively to your stay. We are also delighted that the wide range of activities and the efforts of our entertainment team enhanced your experience at Barceló Bávaro Palace. We are hoping to welcome you back in the future. All the best. César GüÃlamo Montilla Director Barceló Bávaro Palace

Some do some don’t
Hi. there are four or five restaurants included. The steak house is the best. There is a french, japanese place that we heard was really good but we didnt go to because it was extta $$. we made our reservations right after we checked in for the week. It was pretty easy.
I believe that you can, because they have signs publicizing the premium category. We did not take this option, because we could not justify the cost for what you get. We found the option too expensive for what is included.
